We detoured again- to Lake Annecy! So pretty- until it all went wrong and we lost our drone into the lake. Oops! We also visited the incredible Gorges du Fier as part of our France with a Motorhome road trip. If you're going to southwest France on a road trip- add Lake Annecy and the Gorges du Fier to your list for sure!
You see it right down there?
Good morning! So we came down out of the Alps and we were supposed to be heading
west, but we kind of detoured and we've headed east and we're in Lake Annesey
which I've heard of but I've never been to and it's beautiful. We've wild camped for the
night. So one thing to know about Lake Annesey if you ever come here is that
they don't seem to be particularly big fans of motorhomes and all of the
parking areas have got like really low restrictions on. I don't know if you can
see them but they're like like them and this whole parking area, yeah you can't
get a motorhome in any of them. But we found this little spot and we stayed here for the night.
Now in the middle of high summer you probably wouldn't be able to, I don't
know how strict they are on enforcing it, but there were no signs saying that you
can't park, there were no signs saying that no motorhomes and those signs were
everywhere all the way down the edge of the lake as we drove down. So we were quite pleased with this little spot.
I got up really early and took some photos of the sunrise which is very
pretty but it was too dark to film. So I'm gonna go back and show you the lake
now in the sunshine because it's beautiful. Yesterday was horrible and
today's amazing and then after that we're gonna go find a gorge that's got
like a path that runs round through the middle of it or something I don't know.
It looked awesome. That's gonna be our day and then that really is it we need
to start heading back. We haven't left much time to get back in time for
the ferry but never mind, it's amazing and we're having like an adventure.
It's seriously pretty. This morning there was mist all over the place. Isn't it beautiful?
The sun don't know. It's still pretty chilly, we're still in March, but it's just gorgeous.
The ways that you'll always be right.
Light, can it wait?
If we fell apart, would you want me to stay?
Why do we always start to come back together right when we fall?
Trade out, help me leave Tangerine. Trade out, won't you come back to me?
If it breaks down, you'll still be right for me.
We've had a catastrophe. We've got the drone out and we're going to take it over the lake and shoot some
beautiful pictures and just as we were setting it all up and it was just
hovering ready to go, a big gust of wind came and it pushed it into that column
and then it fell. You see it right down there in the depth, the little red light
blinking for help. That's our drone. I can't believe the red light's still going actually.
It's been down there for like 20 seconds. It's really quite sad. I feel quite
emotional. That drone's been everywhere with us. I know. So sad.
So you're going to have to put up with me doing a little GoPro video of the lake.
There you go. And the sea down at the bottom.
So, I'm squinting. Let's go this way. I've put an end to our morning's entertainment.
We'll go find a drone now. No, no, we won't go find a drone. We'll go find a gorge.
We'll go find a gorge. Mr. Wondering Bird is sad. Let's go cheer him up.
All right, we'll see you in happier times.
It's that little one we tried to get into, but we couldn't. They were full of them.
Tell you what, they've still got the same space there though. Oh, wouldn't they?
To come back together right when we fall.
Trade out, help me leave Tangerine. Trade out, won't you come back to me.
If it breaks down, you'll still be right for me.
We are at the Gorge du Fier, which is just near Lake Annecy.
And we're parked up. It's a huge car park. If I swivel, you can see a decent-sized car park.
We've got a roaming puppy while there's nobody around.
And the Gorge du Fier, the Fier is the river that's created the gorge.
So, we're going to go and explore it. Oh, and there's a car coming. I'm going to go rescue the dogs.
Oh, wow. Crikey, that's a long way down. Are you sure about taking the dog? Holy moly.
Bye. A wandering bird wanders into the deep abyss, never to be seen again.
Maybe down onto a bit of a ledge, but still, it looks like an abyss.
Camp spot. Camp spot. Yeah, it'll be fine. No problem. I can reverse it down there. No worries.
It won't get back out, but we can reverse it down.
The wandering bird returns. Let's give you a drink. Oh, she's going to wet it. It's amazing.
Don't tell her I said that. It's okay. There's the bud again.
Here we go. The cool pose, hanging over the edge.
Find what a 150-year-old whaler would commit suicide. Don't jump, dog. Don't jump. It's not worth it.
It backs onto itself. Dearie me. I've been giving you my commentary. I hope you're going to listen to it back.
I hope she doesn't. She won't. She clicks it far too fast. Normally, in fact, that's boring.
Here we go. We have that look. Oh, my word. Dearie me.
We've got that bit there in the yellow, which is that boulder there, dropped out in 2009.
And that's what created that in 2005. Found the washing machine. Yeah. Save us five euros.
Maybe rather have something a little bit more rigid.
