Actually, the box in which the magician is keeping all the picks has two compartments. One is very thin, and the other one is larger. When magician Paul puts the picks into the box, he cleverly puts all the picks, except the blue one, into the thin compartment, and he puts the blue pick into the larger compartment where he has already placed some other blue picks. The compartments are not visible to anyone because the magician keeps the face of the box towards himself. Now, when the magician asks the judge to take out a pick from the box, the judge's finger naturally goes into the larger compartment, and as we know, any pick taken from there will be blue in color.
