And we turn our attention now to space and NASA's latest pictures of a star being born. The James Webb Space Telescope has captured some truly stunning images of the so-called cosmic tornado. This plume of gas and dust has been nicknamed the cosmic tornado because of its appearance. It's an outflow produced by jets launched from a nearby forming star. The outflows can extend for light-years. This one is located at some 625 light-years from Earth in a part of the galaxy where new stars are being born. NASA's retired Spitzer Space Telescope captured the same shot in 2006, but it was too fuzzy to make out the background galaxy and other details. Launched in 2021 as the successor to the Hubble Space Telescope, Webb is the largest and most powerful observatory ever launched into space.
