Facebook marketplace scams are on the rise as recent cases are targeting homeowners.
According to Chicopee Police, those impacted often share their address online when it comes to selling items.
They say just last week, a resident in Chicopee tried to sell a dirt bike.
That person shared their address, but the buyer did not end up following through with the purchase.
That evening, the dirt bike was stolen from the homeowner's property.
Law enforcement is reminding people to complete any sales in public places and never give out your address.
And again, for online transactions, we do have that parking spot in front of the police station where you can come
and it's monitored by a camera right up in the corner of the building.
And it's very simple, you know, if you're bringing a truck with a trailer or a dirt bike or something,
they can stop in the station and say, hey, I'm doing a transaction out here in the corner.
If you wouldn't mind, just keep an eye on it.
This is monitored by an officer. Footage from the camera can be accessed by law enforcement.
