Infinite Being Has No Opposite

If infinite being is love, or happiness, how can it not have an opposite? Does our experience of good and evil, or happiness and sorrow, not contradict that?

Rupert says: ‘Imagine a sky covered in clouds. At a certain point a gap opens and you see the blue sky. To begin with, you think it’s a blue cloud. That’s how it appears superficially. Then you realise that actually the blue clouds are gaps in the cloud cover through which you see the all-pervasive sky.

‘The experience of happiness is like that: we think happiness and suffering are two equal and opposite emotions, but when we look closely, it’s not like that. Suffering is the grey clouds and happiness the blue sky, the ever-present background of being, your true nature shining through. Suffering is in our feelings, but happiness is not a feeling – it’s the shining of being. And like the sky, it is ever-present so even when we’re suffering, the blue sky of happiness is still there.’
