Hi there, welcome to my channel! Get ready to transform your space with a spring bedroom makeover! In this video, I’m sharing cozy design ideas, bedroom updates, and easy tips to make your bedroom feel peaceful and elegant this season. I hope you enjoy decorating with me today.
Hey there and welcome to my home. Today we are going to be giving my bedroom a little bit of a
spring makeover. I really like to refresh this space at the beginning of every season. I definitely
feel like what we're doing today is more than a refresh because we are adding some really cool
pieces that are great for spring but they're also permanent pieces that will be great season after
season so really excited to get those in the space today. It is the spring and I am bringing
in that fresh color palette into that space but this is truly a makeover project that's been
very ongoing essentially since I moved in the house. I basically knew from day one that the
bedroom furniture that had moved with me was not really the furniture that I wanted to keep
in this space for the long term. I just wanted a different feel, something more traditional.
I will show you what the room looked like back when I first moved in. I've been slowly updating
the space with pieces like the bed and the nightstands and I've been curating that space
and collecting those things a little bit year after year as I live here. A little bit year after
year. It's been a slow process for me but today is a very exciting day because we're adding even
more updates to the space that I'm really looking forward to and I'm really excited to share them
here with you so let's do it. Let's get to decorating. The very first thing I knew I
wanted to update in this bedroom makeover was the rug in this space. I have been searching
for something that was the perfect tones to complement my color palette in here and let
me tell you I found it. I found it. This is a one-of-a-kind Turkish rug. It is from Revival
Rugs. They have some of the most beautiful high quality hand-woven rugs and I think this piece
has completely transformed my space. I cannot wait for you to see the finished room at the end
of this video so stick around because I think this rug just makes it. It's hand-woven, premium
materials so not only does it look stunning but I know that it is made to last for many years to
come. It is truly a collector's piece. One of the things that I love most about this rug is that it
just feels like a heritage piece. Like a little bit of history on my floor which you know that
I'm all about in my home. There's just no substitute for a handmade rug and Revival
Rugs has hundreds of unique designs to choose from, all hand-picked from Turkey and Morocco.
A huge thank you to Revival Rugs for sponsoring this video. If you're looking for a way to refresh
your space with a high quality hand-crafted rug like this one, definitely check them out. You
can go to revivalrugs.com to get 20% off of your purchase. I will be sure to link their website
in the description box below for you. I also have a QR code here on the screen
and you will get 20% off your purchase. Tell me, do you love the new rug? Do you like this rug?
You do like it? What? Because it's so beautiful? Yes, I love this rug. It's so beautiful, isn't it?
Yeah, it's new for us, for our room. Yeah, you can do zoomies on this rug. Zoom.
Oh, you need that too. Okay.
My next order of business in here is to convince these adorable little girls to get off their
favorite place to lounge, which is my bed, so that I can update the bedding for the season.
It is always a negotiation and you will see in a bit that I usually just give in. I mean,
can you blame me? Their adorable little faces are just too hard to resist. Anyway, I always like to
update my bedding with the changing of the seasons, so I'm updating it for spring today.
I found the most beautiful duvet cover and shams at Pottery Barn. I really love this for the spring,
but I also think this could be a year round duvet. The print is so beautiful. I just love the
birds. It feels really fresh, but also timeless at the same time. Just in case you're curious,
the duvet insert that I have is also from Pottery Barn. I've had this one for a few years now. Such
good quality. It is super fluffy and it has held up really well. I also have the same one in my
guest room and I feel like guests really love it. They always say they have a great night's sleep.
Now, I know putting on a duvet cover can be a very dreaded task. Trust me, I get it. I actually
use a technique that I saw years and years ago on the internet. This is how I've put my duvet
covers on ever since. So I'm going to share it here with you today. All you do, it's really
simple. You flip your duvet inside out, lay it flat on top, and then you tie off all of the
corners. Once you've done that, you will pull the duvet insert and the cover through corner by
corner from one side to the other. So the bottom left, and then the top left, and then the bottom
right, and then the top right. And once you pull that last corner through, it basically just
completely flips that duvet inside out and you have a perfectly evenly placed duvet insert. As simple
as that. I don't know how it works. It's magic. I don't know. I'm not an expert at it either, but I
just thought I would share. The two biggest contributors to a cozy night's sleep for me are
these sheets and this blanket. The sheets are from Bella Coterie and they're bamboo sheets and this
blanket is from Walmart. It is, I believe, Better Homes and Garden. I'll have it linked down below.
It comes in all bedding sizes. It is a Barefoot Dreams dupe. When I go with a pattern duvet like
this, I usually like to balance the bed with a solid, whether it be a throw blanket or a quilt.
This season I decided to go with a quilt set that I found on Amazon. I think this green is such a
beautiful, rich, yet soothing color and complements this duvet really well. Pottery Barn also has some
stunning quilt options too, but since I mostly use mine as an accent layer and I do change it up
quite often, I like to save a little bit and go with the more cost-friendly version, which is on
Amazon. This one is still super soft, good quality, and I think layers beautifully.
Are you ready to get new curtains, buddy? Are you ready? Do you want me to give you a kiss?
I also felt like now is the time to update my curtains in here. I really do love the gray
velvet ones. I actually have these velvet curtains in different colors all over my house. I have them
in my office, I have them in my bathroom, I also have them in a couple of upstairs bedrooms that
you haven't seen, but for this space I wanted something with a more natural linen texture, and
I knew that I wanted blackout curtains. The gray ones are just light reducing, so this time around
I did opt for some blackouts. I came across these pinch pleated curtains on Amazon, and after reading
several of the reviews saying that they were designer dupes, I thought, why not just give them
They have rechargeable lights, so you don't have to mess with any wiring or call your electrician.
All you have to do is hang them. They came in a set of two from Amazon, and I have to say I'm
pretty impressed with them. The light is magnetic, and the base of the sconce is just a flat metal
surface, which makes it super easy to remove the light to charge it up when you need to. Honestly,
I'm super excited about these. The lights have two different settings, warm and cool, and then of
course you can set a timer, all of that good stuff. I'll have them linked below if you want to check
them out. One thing that I always think makes a space feel a little bit more elevated yet still
inviting and warm is layered lighting, especially in a space like the bedroom. If you pay attention
to the lighting in spaces that you're drawn to, whether it's in photos or online, you'll probably
start to notice, much like I have, that there are always multiple layers of light working together
to create cohesion in the space. One way to achieve this upgraded yet very cozy feel in the
bedroom is by adding small sconces around the bed frame. These look stylish but function as
practical reading light. I'll still have lamps on the nightstands as well because I love having
that extra warm ambient layer of light also, but I feel like getting the lighting just right in a
room is half the battle when it comes to creating a space that we truly enjoy. It just creates a
really soft and charming atmosphere that helps this space feel even more relaxing. I purchased
a pair of these lamps from Kirkland's this spring for my downstairs console table, and I just love
them so much that I decided to get two more for the bedroom here. I've had the mercury glass lamps
that I just removed in my bedroom for over 15 years, so I was definitely ready for some fresh
new lamps. I also grabbed a pair of linen scalloped lampshades at HomeGoods that I just happened
across so that I can switch out the rattan ones on these when I want to change them from time to
time. I'll definitely find a nice place around the house for the old ones because I still like those,
but I'm just excited to have these new ones in here for the brand new season and just kind of
bedroom today. It just feels so good to have a fresh space and new pieces that I really, really
love, so looking forward to spending some time in there. I wouldn't say my makeover is absolutely
complete. I really want to do a few more things in that space. I want to add some wainscoting,
some picture molding to the walls, and I'd love to paint it a beautiful color. You know, this house
is very white and when I moved in this home, one thing that drew me to this home is it felt like
a blank white canvas and I thought, okay, I'm gonna move in and I can just paint any room,
any color that I want to, and I haven't painted anything yet and it's been seven years. I
definitely want to paint the bedroom and then I also want to get a new light fixture. I want to
update the light fixture in that space with something really beautiful. Of course, when I do
those things, I will share it here with you hopefully in a future video. Thank you so much
for spending a little bit of time out of your day here with me on YouTube. I hope that you
enjoyed this video. I still have a lot of spring and Easter decorating to do around the house,
so I will see you again very soon in the next one, but until I do, take care and happy decorating!
