RFK Jr.: #AMERICASTRONG

Just one day before the attempted assassination of President Trump, I gave a speech in Las Vegas calling for a unity government. I think most Democrats and Republicans know deep down that this toxic polarization is unsustainable. Crisis always brings people together. The moments we put aside our bickering and answer our highest calling as neighbors, as community members, as human beings, and as Americans. Today I want to share with you my vision for the healing of America. I call it America Strong. You know when there's a fire, a hurricane, or some other crisis and people come together with a hashtag like Houston Strong, Maui Strong, or Boston Strong? Well this is the same thing but for the whole country. You see there's a crisis in our country that's deeper than any of the other issues that politicians normally talk about. It's the crisis of division. And I talk about this a lot but today I'm going to tell you what we're going to do about it. So when I say hashtag America Strong, I'm calling for something deeper than my usual list of policies. Yeah, to be strong we need to stop squandering our wealth on foreign wars. Yes, we need to uproot the noxious weeds of corruption from the federal government. We need to restore the middle class. And yes, we need to rebuild our infrastructure. We need to tackle the twin epidemics of addiction and chronic disease. None of these tasks is going to be easy but all of them are possible. How are they possible? They're possible through unity. They're possible when Americans join their creativity together and cooperate in service to something larger than themselves. That spirit has to infuse our government as well. And so the core of my America Strong vision is a unity government. First that means that I'm going to appoint cabinet members who are Democrats and Republicans and Independents and people from other political parties like Greens and Libertarians. Second, I'm going to pardon any past president or members of their family if I find the charges still pending against them next year were politically motivated. The same goes for private citizens like Ross Ulbrich and Edward Snowden. Political persecution has no place in the United States of America. Third, I'm going to forbid the weaponization of the Justice Department, the IRS, or any other government agency to surveil or undermine political opponents or their supporters. Fourth, I'm going to convene a cross-partisan advisory committee to propose and select Supreme Court justices. And finally, I pledge to give the people a more direct role in guiding legislation and scrutinizing the budget through direct democracy initiatives using AI and blockchain and other technologies. We've given Democrats a chance to fix this country. We've given Republicans a chance. What has not had a chance is a unity government headed by an independent president beholden to no party, free from corporate influence, owing no favors to the Washington establishment, and ready to recruit the best ideas from both parties and from all of those who've been left out. This is the path back to a strong and prosperous America. That's the path to America strong. I know people are ready for it because everywhere I go, people tell me they're sick and tired of the division and they're sick of the hatred. They want mature leadership that isn't about us versus them. With your help, I aspire to offer that kind of leadership and head the first unity government of the United States of America since George Washington. God bless you and God bless our country.
