If you have trouble understanding the three different types of flowers, which are used in a flower design, then take a look at today's tutorial.
Because I will explain to you lines, curves and transition material, which together result in a fantastic flower design.
So, welcome back to today's tutorial.
This is a very traditional triangle arrangement.
It has the very clear shape of a geometric triangle.
It is higher than wide and uses the proportions one third to two thirds to create the total height.
And every basic arrangement, if you look at traditional shapes, has a slightly recognizable shape.
In this case it is a triangle. It is symmetrical.
So it is the same on both sides. But that doesn't mean that it has to be a mirror image.
It doesn't have to be identical. It just has to have the same shape. It is reversed.
The flowers or leaves are at a lower position to direct the gaze in the middle and create depth.
It has a front and a back and the flowers fall into three different categories.
We learn flower design based on the elements and principles of design.
In the description below is a free guide, which can be downloaded for free and contains basic instructions for understanding the elements and principles of design.
The elements of design include shapes and shapes.
These are the shapes of the flowers, which are flat, and the shapes of the flowers, which are three-dimensional.
The finished overall design should also have a profile and a spatial depth.
Therefore depth from front to back.
An arrangement always has height, width and depth, which run from front to back.
It is not flat. It is not like a photo, which only has height and width.
It has to be three-dimensional.
In this arrangement I have three different types of shapes and designs.
Most traditional designs have these three basic shapes.
The first are line flowers, which I use in this arrangement in different forms.
I have delineum, a line flower, which creates a movement of the gaze.
In addition to the rhinoceros, I have the sage and the line flowers here in the back.
So things like rhinoceros, gladiolus, rhinoceros, leucoceros, lionfly, they all create an upward and downward movement.
They are directed flowers.
They point in one direction or create a outline.
Therefore I use these line flowers to create the height, the width, the depth and the outline of my arrangement.
In a traditional arrangement we very rarely use line flowers in this area here, which represents the gaze, to create a dominant flower or a central flower.
We use a round flower, and that could be a rose, a rhinoceros, a sunflower, a lily, a phoenix rose or a hydrangea.
But think of the shape.
Everything that is a single flower and is round is used to create the gaze and the dominant flower in the arrangement.
Lines create the outline.
Round flowers form the dominant area.
Transition flowers are the third category and that can be everything.
From wax flowers to a Chrysanthemum Spray, Spray Nelke, Schleierkraut or Status, as I have them in this arrangement here.
They are almost like the fillers.
They are like the background singers in a group.
Without them, the design looks bare and bare.
They serve to cover the foam and to connect the line flowers with the round flowers.
When you make a traditional arrangement, some other rules apply.
If it is a more modern or contemporary design.
But you are looking for something that fits into these three categories.
Lines, rounds and a transition flower that connects everything together.
And that includes the leaf.
So look for a leaf that forms lines.
Look for a leaf that has a stronger shape.
And look for a leaf that is like a filler flower or can be used in a more versatile arrangement.
Also as a border leaf.
So if you are new to flower design, these are the tips you should start with.
Look for flowers from the three categories.
It is quite difficult to create an arrangement with exclusively line flowers.
It is even more difficult to create a design with exclusively rounds.
Because the design becomes static and there is no movement in it.
And too many filler flowers and too many overloaded flowers make your arrangement look messy and chaotic.
But it is a really good start.
If you want a more comprehensive guide to the elements and principles of design.
Then I have a downloadable document on the website, which you can also find in the description.
If you are not sure about the care and conditioning of flowers.
Then I also have a downloadable PDF workbook for you.
In which you learn everything about care and conditioning.

Because without the subscribers, there would be no YouTube channel and no weekly videos.
