by don't give up until you drink from
the silver cup and ride that high
all right welcome back to the program 7
minutes after 1:00 now on a tuesday
afternoon
5089960500 so the phone call between
trump and putin is now officially over
and um the call has ended we've gotten
no information yet about what was said
and what was accomplished and um we'll
watch for i guess trump is going to be
on tonight with laura ingram at 700 p.m
on uh on fox so maybe we'll learn more
then
um uh hopefully there'll be some
statements between now and then um again
i would not i wouldn't look for anything
too huge to be announced today you never
know though i mean things can happen
that you don't anticipate you know
generally the it's kind
of meetings or phone calls or you know
like the first
uh opportunity for them to feel each
other out on this this issue i they've
spoken about ukraine and and um other
issues back during the first
administration but um uh this is the
first time that they've actually spoken
uh to my knowledge since the um since
the war began so i i wouldn't expect any
major announcements i wouldn't expect
them to come out and say "well war is
over." u you might get a couple of uh
positive things but we we'll see we'll
as soon as we i get some information
i'll pass it on to you um i don't know
if you heard but trump has now
officially
ended the taxpayer funded secret service
details for um hunter biden and his
sister ashley
biden that's it you got to pay your own
security if you want
security and
[Music]
um which is normal by the way i know
before everybody jumps up and screams
that biden's kid should get well you
know no they shouldn't because it's not
uh what normally happens uh trump um
this a story from
[Music]
um elizabeth weeble wyel hope is wyel
wii bl oh my god i am so horrible with
this stuff you know that so you do maybe
she's a weeble weebles wobble but they
don't fall down remember that but
elizabeth weeble of
wyel wrote this morning on breitbart
president trump announced that hunter
biden the son of former president joe
biden who is currently vacationing in
south africa would no longer receive
secret service protection
[Music]
um in a post on truth social trump also
announced that ashley biden the daughter
for joe biden and former first lady jill
biden would no longer receive secret
service protection trump revealed there
were as many as 18 people on hunter
biden's detail while ashley biden had 13
agents on her security
detail wow
hunter biden has had secret service
protection for an extended period of
time all paid for by the united states
taxpayer trump wrote "there are as many
as 18 people on this detail which is
ridiculous." he is currently vacationing
and of all places south africa where the
human rights of people has been
strenuously questioned because of this
south africa has been taken off our list
of countries receiving economic and
financial assistance please be advised
that effective immediately hunter biden
will no longer receive secret service
protection trump added likewise ashley
biden who has 13 agents will be taken
off the list the united states secret
service which was founded in 1865 is a
branch of the us treasury
department protects people such as the
president the vice president or other
individuals next in order of succession
to the office of the
president the president-elect and vice
presidentelect according to the secret
service website immediate families of
the above individuals along with former
presidents and their spouses and the
children of former presidents up until
the age of 16 are also among the people
who receive um protection and we learned
last summer that the protection for a
former president is considerably less
than it is for a um for a pre a current
president remember when trump was was uh
was shot
at the two assassination attempts on
trump remember that we found out that he
was still uh receiving only
[Music]
um i i hate to say minimal protection
but not the the full protection that he
should have been receiving when he was a
former president visiting heads of
foreign states of government and their
spouses traveling with them and other
distinguished foreign visitors also
receive protection trump's announcement
comes as a um as conservative activist
laura loomer has been posting updates on
acts of hunter biden in south
africa in a post on march 17 luma wrote
that the younger biden dined with trump
hater ellen degeneres in cape town south
africa adding that he was seen with a
full us taxpayer funded secret service
protection detail despite telling the
federal court in los angeles that he is
broke on
3525 tonight hunter biden and his wife
melissa cohen were spotted by loomer
unleashed investigators on the ground in
south africa having dinner at an
expensive brush done at cape town south
africa with the ellen shows ellen
degeneres yeah i mean seriously if
hunter biden's got enough money to be in
south africa on vacation eating in fancy
ass restaurants he should pay for his
own protection right why should we be
paying for it but he says he's broke
sell some paintings
i guess the market for
crackhead
artists who used to live in the white
house i guess um yeah i guess the the
market for paintings from those folks
just when you don't have influence
anymore right i mean this this it's so
funny talking about ukraine but i mean
this all hearkens back to that when
you've got influence everybody wants to
give you money when you've got the right
connections when you're not connected
anymore nobody wants to buy your ugly
dirty stupid artwork
but they do when you're connected to the
vice president and you're living in the
white house right
5089960500 is our phone number back to
the phones thanks for calling in you're
next in nwbsm
hey barry happy birthday thank you my
friend appreciate that steve thanks you
bet well you know it's not whether you
have influence but in the case of the
bidens it's when you have leverage so
influence is when someone comes to you
and says "oh i want you know can you do
me a favor?" in the case of the bidens
they actually went to people and said
"hey you're going to do this or you're
going to lose your money you're going to
do this." so they they're you know i
think it's funny you just pointed out i
didn't you know i heard just heard that
uh he was complaining about a week ago
that he's going to go broke because he's
suing somebody for liel and he's running
out of money with his lawyers and uh and
so here he is in south africa he's
probably trying to shake down somebody
there and say "you owe me or or else uh
because he's looking for money now." but
um you know it's it is kind of crazy
that like this is an elitism thing too
ashley biden with 13 uh secret service
agents i'm and i'm not sure if that's to
protect her because she's been out of
the line letter to keep her father away
from her because he's kind of he kind of
perved out in the past she wrote it in
her her memoirs about dad taking showers
with him so maybe it's to keep joe away
i don't know but uh yeah i it's yeah
this is it's an abuse and uh they should
uh definitely uh you know have that
taken away i mean uh it's not necessary
at this point yeah i mean you know i
mean there's a limit i can see if the
the child um you know was was a
youngster like young baron or or young
um uh amy carter when amy carter i think
amy carter was still a kid when when
they left the white house right she was
probably under 16 at that point i know
she was giving dad nuclear advice when
when she was 13 but um you know any
small kids you know the obama kids or
whatever yeah absolutely they should but
when you reach a certain age i mean
hunter biden is like what 55 56
somewhere around there right right so
yeah so you know it's uh no he he
doesn't you know i i think that again
this is an elitism thing i mean how many
secret service agents do you really need
to move around and like you're an
individual what do you need four people
maybe to look over here look over there
and you know they're not preparing for
motorcades or crap like that so 13 is
maybe they have to rotate them and then
maybe that's the case they got 13 on but
it yeah to end that crap so awesome
truck saving us uh saving us money uh
you know one a one secret service agent
at a time there you go yeah absolutely
well no i mean your point is well taken
i mean i was thinking just in general
but what your point was 18 i mean that's
a little absurd i mean even if they had
one two three guys watching them you
know you can maybe maybe make a case for
it although it's not called for in the
secret service guidelines but i mean you
know 18 secret service people on this
guy i don't know maybe he's they're
afraid somebody's going to steal his his
paint i don't know you never know yeah
well listen you have a great birthday
today and uh and thanks for everything
thank you my friend
5089960500 is the number and you are
next on wbsm thanks for hanging on hi
how you doing good how are you pretty
good happy birthday to you thank you my
friend appreciate it you're more than
welcome uh i'm going to run for governor
what was that again i'm going to run for
governor of you're going to run for
governor okay what's your platform going
to be well i'm not going to run on the
democrats because they're too far right
okay even the even the far-left
advocates are too far right for me i'm
going to run on the future great
american people party oh okay tell me
more okay one first we're going to award
award the uh illegal immigrants with
naturally
citizenship a new car and a new house
wow
yeah well you should take those houses
though from people who already have too
much take their house from them and give
them to the illegal immigrants right
that'll kind of settle the score a
little bit good idea i'll have to put
that in the flash yeah yeah yeah all
right i had more but i forgot what it
was so i'm getting old so have a good
day all right my friend appreciate it
5089960500 no that's true i mean if
you're going to give the illegal
immigrants houses you got to take the
houses from people that already have you
know i can remember you know a lot of
people that would call in and talk about
their white guilt back when all that was
in style i don't think that's in style
anymore is it i haven't heard anybody
call me with white guilt in a while i
haven't seen white guilt anywhere but
you know people would call in and oh i'm
got white guilt so i think what you do
is you go to the people with white guilt
and take their house from them and say
"okay you surrender your house give me
your keys give me your mortgage and
we're going to hand it over to uh manny
and maria that just arrived with a
jackass and a and you know a cloth bag
over their shoulder." i think that would
even things up a little bit don't you
seems to me i think the gentleman is
right he's on to something here all
right we got to get the first breaking
and then we're going to come back after
this junior listening to wbs
[Music]
all right welcome back out to the
program 122 on a now partly sunny
tuesday afternoon
5089960500 is our phone number and you
know i got to tell you i said this just
briefly before the news but it's worth
repeating i think um this is a day to be
so proud of our country and um you know
not only is our leader on the phone with
the the the leader of the soviet union
trying to negotiate a peace and a war
that has lasted for three years that has
resulted in so many deaths and so much
destruction um something that the former
administration couldn't do the the
former president and vice president uh
for three years went without speaking to
putin and um trump's been in what eight
weeks he's already been on the horn with
him um but also i'm you know i'm
watching these updates on the uh the
um the astronauts coming home the uh
spacex capsule and i i now have a time
it's going to be it's actually today
they're going to land today and
um 557 they're due to land splashdown
off the coast of florida the east coast
of florida i think it's east coast yeah
be the east coast of florida right maybe
the west coast i'm not sure off the
coast of florida anyway and um so 5:57
this afternoon and um the astronauts
sunni williams and butch
wilmore stranded on the international
space station uh for 286 days the return
is thanks in no small part to the
combined drive of and the ambition of
president's trump president trump and
elon musk uh the pair decided to
accelerate the astronaut's return and
laid the blame for their troubles on the
uh the biden administration the
replacement crew's brand new spacex
capsule still wasn't ready to fly so
spacex subbed it with a used one
hurrying things along by weeks the
[Music]
um the upi reports the pair of
astronauts along with crew nine members
nasa astronaut nick hey and russia
cosminaut alexander
golvangh were aboard the spacex capsule
as it detached from i from the
international space station at 15 105
this
morning putting them on a 17-hour flight
back to earth
space x dragon expected to splash down
off the coast of florida at 557 this
afternoon following months of delays and
trump last month asking ally and spacex
ceo musk to go get them
the 286 days williams and wilmore spent
in space is among the longest single
space missions in nasa history but well
behind the record of 371 days held by
astronaut frank
rubio the successful return of the
astronauts both retired navy captains
will mark another milestone for musk's
spacex and his close working
relationship with the president both
astronauts have thanked musk and trump
for their efforts the company has been
instrumental in providing reliable
transportation to and from the space
station ensuring the continuity of human
space flight missions now he's a nazi
made a nazi salute here we go those are
the people that i was referring to in
the last hour that can't think beyond a
certain um
ceiling can't think beyond a so
immediately name calling and all that
kind of stuff yeah nazi salute that's it
it's a nazi salute musk is a nazi
the jfk files supposed to be out today i
don't know if they've been released yet
i haven't heard uh whether they're out
but today is the day uh trump said that
the files related to the assassination
of jfk would be released today without
any redactions
jeb said his administration will be
releasing 80,000 files though it's not
clear how many of those are among the
millions of pages of records that have
already been made public we have a
tremendous amount of
paper you've got a lot of reading trump
said he also said he doesn't believe
anything will be redacted from the files
i said just don't redact you can't
redact he said "many who have studied
what's been released so far by the
government say the public shouldn't
anticipate any earthshattering
revelations from the newly released
documents but there is still intense
interest in details related to the
assassination and the events surrounding
it."
um so i haven't heard i don't know if
they'll condense it into a paperback
book 80,000 pages yikes
there is um something
interesting it's a lot of interesting
i'm trying i'm just trying to uh weed
through here
um
[Music]
yeah see keep saying i want to pull this
one document up and look at it and and
then i see the next one below i say i
got to do that one too
um speaking about
the coast of florida the
[Music]
pentagon i don't know if you've heard
this yet but the pentagon has announced
that it is deploying a us navy destroyer
to the gulf of
america it's part of its mission to
secure the southern border according to
a chief pentagon spokesman shan
parnell the uss gravely departed naval
weapons station yorktown for a scheduled
deployment to the gulf of
america it's not only vital for the
united states to have control of our
border via land it's equally important
to control our territorial waters and
this deployment directly supports us
northern command's mission to protect
our sovereignty
the gravely is deploying under northern
commander air force general guilot's
authorities for maritime homeland
defense missions and lieutenant general
joint staff director for operations
lieutenant general
alex grinkowitz
uh who briefed alongside
pornell grinkowitz is known
as the grinch i like that that's easy to
say um and grinch added that she will
deploy the uh to the gulf of america and
surrounding areas and be involved in the
interd interdiction mission for any
drugs and elicit goods heading into the
united
states if you remember back during
trump's first term he um ordered the
coast guard to do some of that work and
was roundly criticized of course right
but doesn't it make sense that if you
are going to secure the border and the
vast amount of fentinel that's coming
into this country that is being uh
pedled to our kids is coming over that
border you've got to you not only seal
the border but you've also got to u make
sure that it's not safe to come
in by marine vessel either
right so i mean it just makes total
sense to me
she will be partnered very closely with
the united states coast guard we won't
share of course her actual scheme of
maneuver here but know that that's a
mission that she's going down there for
and we look forward to seeing what she
can
do parnell emphasized the importance of
the mission to secure the southern
border president trump and secretary
hegath have been very very clear that
the border security is national security
we spent decades defending foreign
nations borders while our own us
border has been invaded by criminal
illegal aliens human smugglers drug
traffickers and transnational
gangs the department of defense is proud
to defend our homeland and the
territorial sovereignty of the united
states although we've seen a 93%
decrease in illegal border crossings we
will not stop until we have 100%
operational control of our southern
border he added but also there are close
to 10,000 troops deployed on the border
we're surging a striker brigade combat
team down there to reinforce the land
border as well but there's a sea
component to this as well and that's
part of the mission of the uss gravely
to secure the water routes and defense
of our southern border brunell also
noted that making
history or the making uh history by
using the term gulf of america for the
first time at a pentagon briefing this
is the first time we've recognized the
gulf of america in the pentagon b press
briefing room which is kind of cool he
said president donald trump renamed the
gulf of mexico to the gulf of america
within his first week of his second
administration so what do you think
about that deploying
[Music]
um the navy as
well i mean it makes sense to me doesn't
it doesn't it to you i mean it should if
you were going to make a um if you're
going to make a uh an effort to defend
our border i mean it's got to be a full
court
press and um so i think yeah i think we
need to do this and i think it's great i
think it's absolutely fabulous
this would also help with
[Music]
um between drugs and guns and illeg
illegal stuff coming in it'll keep um
it'll certainly discourage
um illegal aliens from trying to come in
by water i mean if you seal the border
the land border might give rise to
um sea-based
efforts to gain access to our country
so that's a good thing
um president trump is uh
also i don't know if you've seen this
yet it's it's it just popped up last
night i saw it last night for the first
time these new videos that are coming up
um with president
trump calling on illegal immigrants in
this country to
self-deport
clips president donald trump is urging
illegal immigrants to self-deport from
the us using a newlyannounced app from
the department of homeland
security uh trump this according to
axios trump will send the message in a
video that has been released on social
media platforms this week calling on
illegal immigrants to use the cbp home
app to announce their departure from the
country and this is an interesting this
is an interesting thing uh the dhs
unveiled the app earlier this month
after removing the biden era cbp1 app
which was used to allow migrants into
the country people in our country can
self-epport the easy way or they can get
deported the hard way and that's not
pleasant trump said in the video i don't
know if you've seen this i saw this last
night for the first time
goes on to say "the biden administration
exploited the cbp1 app to allow more
than 1 million aliens to illegally enter
the united states now my administration
is launching the cbp home app to give
people in our country illegally an easy
way to leave now and self-deport
voluntarily if they do they will have
the opportunity to potentially return
legally at some point in the future but
if they do not avail themselves of this
opportunity then they will be found they
will be deported and they will never be
admitted to the united states ever ever
again trump adds
chimp goes on to say that using the cbp
home app is the safest option for both
illegal immigrants and law enforcement
in addition to allowing law enforcement
to focus resources on apprehending and
deporting illegal immigrants convicted
of violent crimes the app also allows
illegal immigrants to submit intent to
depart and submit information regarding
their intent to leave the us they can
also provide information to verify they
have left the us a function limited to
those who are parrolled into the us
using the biden era
app i mean that's an interesting message
um leave now on your own and you will be
able to apply to come back if we have to
catch you and haul you out of here
you'll never be you'll never be able to
come back again so i mean that is um
that's a very interesting approach and
it might work with some
folks it might work for some folks and
and and i i would you know i i would
encourage people to use that and do it i
mean if you want to come back here to
this to the
country look up the app cbp
home and see how it can work for you
because you know the last uh we we hear
these weepy stories about how you know
people on a christian avenue are afraid
to go out and oh my god they might get
rounded up and the the jack boots are
going to kick down score school doors
and haul kids off and well look if if
you don't want to face that here's a
chance to um to man up to woman up and
uh and do the right thing say "okay here
i am i'm here illegally what do i have
to do to come back here
legally?" and what trump is suggesting
here through this message on the app is
that if you go to this app cbp
home turn yourself in and say "i want to
i want to i want to deport myself i want
to
self-epport go back home fill out the
paperwork and then come back legally."
then you don't have to hide in shadows
anymore you don't have to uh you know
you don't have to uh worry about school
doors being kicked down and so on and so
forth i mean if you are worried about
stuff like that that's your problem you
put yourself and your family in that
position we didn't do that we didn't put
you in that position we didn't pluck you
out of the middle of a you know the mud
hole and and bring you here and say
"okay haha here you are you're in a
cushioning avenue now you got to hide
and freak out every time you see a cop
car go by." we didn't put you in that
position we didn't put you in a position
to have to worry about whether your
family gets gets separated or whatever
you put yourself in that
position so you have a chance to rectify
the situation and be able to come
back and do it
legally see how many people do i'm sure
a lot will
5089960500 is the number you're up next
to wbsm good afternoon
hi barry happy birthday thank you
appreciate that yeah listen i think this
is a pretty damn good birthday for you
today you've got the landing the people
from space are finally coming home yes
thank god yep nine months so i mean
that's huge and they're landing today on
your birthday that's huge and then that
navy ship going out to once first time
ever being called gulf of america today
on your birthday and trump is talking to
putin hopefully there's going to be
resolution this looks like a great day
for you and kennedy files are are going
to be available as of today y um yeah
and i i think it's a great day for
america to be honest with you i as i
said earlier i'm proud to be an american
i love when things like this happen you
know it's just yeah no it is a great day
for america so i was thinking um if you
remember what time you were b born if um
you don't know maybe you have your birth
certificate home i don't remember the
exact time but it was it was early in
the morning it was around 6ish in the
morning
oh i was going to say wouldn't it be
funny if you were born at the same time
frame as the um capsule landing
i was born a few hours after the irish
pubs closed on st patrick's day i know
that yeah a day after the st patties
yeah what is that what so what do is it
a spacecraft that's like what do we call
it that's bringing them actually in what
i'm sorry what do we call what
is it a capsule that they're coming home
in or is it a space a space it is a
capsule yeah it's a capsule they're
going to remember the old days when they
used to plunk down in the ocean with the
the water with the parachutes it's same
same kind of situation so um um the
navyy's going to go pick them up yeah
and bring him home one one of the
astronauts the the woman is from
massachusetts
oh i did not know that yeah she she grew
up i believe in felmouth
oh no wait oh how about that
wow well i i know um she's got a record
now by 5 days i believe they said uh for
maybe a woman there was somebody
actually in space o over 100 days more
or almost 100 days longer than this crew
um but she they've been up there held a
long time anyway i think it would be
neat if we gave them a parade right here
in massachusetts you know we got a a
woman from massachusetts yeah let's have
a parade
that yes i remember in the old days when
we used to we used to welcome our our
astronauts back to earth with parades
and stuff
we did a lot of parades back in the day
we really did well i mean they were nice
we were proud of those people those were
the people that were our heroes you know
we hung i remember having neil armstrong
and mike collins and buzz aldrin's
picture hanging on my bedroom wall at
home and we were proud those are our
heroes you know they weren't they
weren't stupid rap stars and actors and
stuff like that and and basketball
players no i know right no you're right
you're so right but i think we i think
um things might turn back to that way
you know
i really believe that and i also want to
say i think that's a great idea that
people can choose to use that app you
know just do that and then when you come
back you can maybe like trump said you
can come back and apply legally so i
think um that's good that you you know i
hope other um hosts keep reiterating
that that yeah i i hope folks are
listening out there that are in that
position right now and if you are cbp
home and just download it look at it and
it might be inconvenience to you but you
know what you're you're being here is an
inconvenience to the rest of us so you
know inconvenience yourself think of
your children think of you know your
future here and you want to be you want
to be here in america do it the right
way go home and apply and come back and
then you don't have to worry about it
anymore but then you got to assimilate
you don't want to get caught you've got
to assimilate when you come back and
you've got to learn english and you got
to teach your kids english and you got
to you got to be part of the system and
stop draining from the system
right right i mean because the worst
thing would be to be caught in a
crosshairs and then maybe end up um you
know with the wrong people being put in
jail or whatnot you know so i think it's
like you know this a great way cuz it's
got to be scary for the good people so
just i hope um like i said i hope they
they take advantage of it but happy
birthday barry thank you my friend i do
appreciate that very much

tunes you do that's how i started out in
the business as a top 40 dj back in the
70s yeah well you can tell i mean i
don't want to be insulting but uh some
of the stuff you pick and play um like
me you're not a spring chicken you like
a lot of the stuff that i like as well
awesome i'm glad you know i just i just
wanted to mention to you because you're
talking about this uh these people
coming back from space which is
incredible hats off to uh to trump and
elon musk for for bringing him home i
was watching a guy on the news this
morning that um i don't remember his
real title or what his field effects he
got something to do with nasa and um and
he was explaining that you know when
you're in space that long um he said the
first thing they're going to have to do
is like learn how to walk again and and
just simple things like sitting in a
chair because they've been floating
around he said he he said the average
person if you're not prepared for it um
the average person in space for that
long would suffer severe psychological
damage and uh and i can understand that
that's not hard to believe but the point
the point of the call was you're talking
about a great day for america yeah and
and i was thinking about the very first
space shuttle that that landed and um
and i'm not going to lie i was actually
sitting in a bar not too far from where
i live now and there was only about a
half a dozen of us and i believe it was
back in the 80s i want to say 87 or 88
something like that um and we watched
that thing land i believe it was in the
salt flats like somewhere in utah and my
memor is a little fuzzy about exactly
where it came down but i think because
it was going so fast and it was so big i
believe it was like out in the salt
flats the yucka flats or something like
that and uh and there was a little well
it's not little it it was there was a
fighter jet escorting it into the runway
and the fighter jet was flying above the
space shuttle and it was the very first
one they sent up and and brought back
and the fighter jet looked like a
mosquito above this thing i mean that's
that's how big the shuttle was but the
the point is is there was only maybe six
or eight of us watching this it's a back
in the 80s it's one of them old big
square tvs bolted to the wall you know
and and and it was so great i mean we
were like clapping and clanging glasses
and and and it was just so cool to watch
that thing come down and uh safely
obviously and um and that was one of
those days it was like damn we're
americans you know and and i i think
today's a day where where is that sense
of pride in in americanism where where
is that i mean we seem to have lost away
from that and even for the longest time
we stopped even caring about going to
space somebody actually when the uh when
the rescue mission the dragon lifted off
the other day uh somebody actually said
to me "why are we going into space
anyway what's the point of that?" and
you know it's such a turnaround from
when we were kids and we understood
space it was like you know um it was
like pon stillion it was like
christopher columbus it was like you
know all of the explorers that set out
on their ships to go out and find new
things and and and discover and um and
that's why we're in space and i mean not
only are we looking for a place to land
in case this place gets blown apart but
you know we up in space we do
experiments and we we've established
medicines that we weren't able to create
here on earth and other things you know
the experiments but the sense of pride
just i feel when i see that i remember
back john glenn you know i remember the
damn monkey that flew around in the in
the the world remember the first day
wasn't wasn't that like a a phrase from
some show or something to uh to go where
no man has gone before you know i
but but i don't remember the show i
don't know if that was like rod sterling
or actually i think that was yeah i
don't remember either it might have been
from wide world of sports i don't
remember
yeah yeah the guy going down to down the
the ski jump and wiping out yeah yeah
yeah
but you know what it was i mean we had a
great sense of pride in the
accomplishments of our country and you
know today people i you mentioned the
shuttle and i've only got a second or
two here i got to hit the break but um
you mentioned the shuttle i remember i
was on the air the day the um shuttle
challenger blew up there's been two
challengers that blew up and the first
one that blew up was the challenger and
i was with christine mcauliffe the
teacher from space and yeah from new
hampshire right yeah and and there was a
a teacher from new bedford that was a
runner up he almost got to go dick matia
and he got he got bumped for whatever
reason and she wound up being uh the the
teacher to go up in space but that was
the first time in a long time that
people were actually watching the
liftoff of a rocket because there was a
teacher so kids were brought into
auditoriums and schools to watch it and
there was an interest in it and the damn
thing blew up um but after that we we
just totally lost interest in the space
program and and now it's gotten to a
point where it should be we're working
it's a public private thing you know you
got elon musk's company spacex and you
got others um he's got a lot to do with
it he's got so much to do with it and um
well i don't even know if you're aware
but we just landed an american company
just landed a uh um a scientific module
on the moon uh this week last week yep
and i'm sorry about that yeah yeah so i
mean this is all stuff that we would
needs competition when more people get
interested and and and then other people
get interested and and it's u you know
it's not i don't mean to make it sound
like it's competitive i'm not saying
competitive but once you show interest
then other people start to say h you
know maybe maybe he's on to something
you know let's check this out i mean
when he built that thing that actually
catches the rocket when it comes back my
god unbelievable i mean come on that's
incredible
i mean that's beyond incredible that's
ridiculous really um but he's a smart
guy i watched that interview when when
trump said you know i tried to find
somebody smarter but i couldn't and i i
believe that i really do i i believe
that he's a smart guy and he's fearless
and he's on our side and that drives
people nuts and i don't understand why
oh he's a nazi oh he's this you know it
just i i don't get that i mean again i
talked earlier about how certain people
that their ability to reason and think
reaches a ceiling and they can't get
beyond that so they resort to the name
calling and um you know and i think
that's the case with with uh with folks
with elon musk i got to hold you my
friend i appreciate the birthday wishes
and a good conversation about space i
got to get a break in we're going to
come right back after this stay tuned
you are listening to wbsm on a tuesday
afternoon um in any event the white
house has just issued a statement on the
phone call between trump and putin today
and it uh reads as follow today
president trump and president putin
spoke about the need for peace and a
ceasefire in the ukraine war uh both
leaders agreed this conflict needs to
end with a lasting peace they also
stressed the need for improved bilateral
relations between the united states and
russia the blood and treasure that both
ukraine and russia have been spending in
this war would be better spent on the
needs of their people the conflict
should never have started and should
have been ended a long time ago with
sincere and good faith peace efforts the
leaders agreed that the movement to
peace will begin with an energy and
infrastructure ceasefire as well as
technical negotiations on implementation
of a maritime ceasefire in the black sea
full ceasefire and permanent peace these
negotiations will begin immediately in
the middle east the leader spoke broadly
about the middle east as a region of
potential cooperation to prevent future
conflicts they further discussed the
need to stop proliferation of strategic
weapons and will engage with others to
ensure the um broadest possible
application the two leaders shared the
view that the that iran should never be
in a position to destroy israel uh the
two leaders agreed that a future with an
improved bilateral relationship between
the united states and russia has huge
upside uh this includes enormous
economic deals and geopolitical
stability when peace has been achieved
so um you know you're gonna get a lot of
positive talk and a lot of positive
feedback
