Grizzly on the Green! Golfer's Worst Nightmare!

Depending where you decide to play, heading to a golf course can sometimes be exciting. In certain locations, the wildlife can be off the hook with frequent sightings of grizzlies, black bears, elk, deer, and even cougars at times. With these courses tucked in the valley bottoms near a river in the mountains, the scenery is stunning, but you should know you are in prime grizzly bear country. Think about that the next time you head into the bush for a $3.00 golf ball. I used to love responding to the golf courses for bears to chase them off to quieter, unused areas. Not only did I get to interact with the bears, but the meet and greets witht the golfers were hillarious. I'd either watch and monitor the bear as they played through or actually close off a hole for a time period. I remember one occassion of giving a player three options with a grizzly 50m away, option one was to go hit it, two was I'd pick it up their ball and they could resume play further down. My favorite option was taking their club and playing their shot for them. These moments helped create buy in and support as people got to see the bears and how we would work them through an area, it usually ended up being the highlight to their game, and thats saying alot for playing on these majestic courses that costed $200-300 per round.
