Former Harvard student and Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg stopped by his old stomping grounds to answer a few questions.
There's a lot of really smart people here, and a lot of them are making decisions on
where they're going to work when they graduate in the next couple of weeks, so this is a
great time to come.
I would say like, you know, when you're going to open a major facility here, just like Google
and Microsoft and everybody else.
Hopefully at some point soon, but no plans in the near future.
We currently have our main development is in Palo Alto, and we opened one development
office outside Palo Alto in Seattle, and the reason to get started in Seattle is because
it's the same time zone, it's a couple hour flight, so we're growing that, and we want
to really get the culture there right before we start opening up other offices, but at
some point, hopefully down the line, we will do that.
The original goals for the company are to make it so that the whole world can be more
open and connected.
We want to build this social platform so that all of these products that you use and all
of these different industries can be rethought in different ways so that your friends are
there with you, and you know, the last five years at Facebook have really just been about
helping people get signed up and stay connected with their friends, but I think the next five
or ten years are going to be about all of these different products and industries that
can be rethought now that you have this base of all these connections in place for people,
so we're already seeing some of that with social games and music and TV and some of
the stuff that we announced at F8 this year, but I think that over the next five years,
a lot of different products are going to be rethought in this way.
