What Astronauts Revealed about Starship Explosion Humiliated NASA...
In 1969, the Apollo 11 mission marked humanity's first step on the Moon, igniting a passion for space exploration. Today, SpaceX is taking that ambition to new heights, aiming not just for the Moon but also for Mars through its groundbreaking Starship program.
However, SpaceX does not want to repeat Nasa's old mistake: why are we willing to trade the lives of a few people and tons of money to achieve a goal for the benefit of a larger group of people?
That explains why the Starship rocket explosion during the test flights was so important, as it underscores the importance of rigorous testing and development in achieving their goals without sacrificing lives and resources.
That's something one experienced astronaut has recently highlighted when the Flight 7 incident sparked considerable discussion in the aerospace community.

(Catastrophic disasters in the past)
On January 27, 1967, a tragic event, namely Apollo 1, claimed the lives of astronauts Gus Grissom, Edward White, and Roger Chaffee during a preflight test. The fire erupted in the command module due to a combination of factors, including faulty wiring and the highly flammable pure oxygen atmosphere within the cabin. Investigators later determined that a voltage anomaly likely triggered the blaze, which reached temperatures of around 1,200 degrees Fahrenheit, causing the cabin to rupture and filling it with toxic fumes that suffocated the crew within seconds.

The incident shocked NASA and the nation, leading to an extensive investigation by the Apollo 204 Review Board. The board's findings revealed numerous issues with the Apollo spacecraft's design and construction.
Fast forward to the space shuttle era, two disasters including Challenger and Columbia, occurred in 1986 and 2003 respectively killing 14 astronauts in total.
Those catastrophes share the same root cause: a growing culture of haste inside Nasa. This urgency resulted in inadequate safety measures and oversight, as well as a lack of responsiveness to astronauts' concerns regarding the spacecraft's safety.
In this century, the involvement of private rocket companies with the goal of commercializing spaceflight has raised great concerns in the old space. Nasa's former astronaut, Neil Armstrong, in a letter in 2010 sent to President Obama, declared:
"Without the skill and experience that actual spacecraft operation [Nasa] provides, the USA is far too likely to be on a long downward slide to mediocrity"
