Love Is the Collapse of Relationship

A man says the idea of oneness, or that there is only one infinite being, fills him with a sense of anxiety. Is that not a lonely place to be?

Rupert says: ‘I would suggest that it is not. On the contrary – to be a separate self – that is a lonely place to be. The suggestion that we are all one is the remedy for loneliness, because to be lonely, there has to be an ‘other’.

‘Whenever we feel lonely, we always feel the presence of the other. Loneliness requires the other, even though we cannot reach them. But for being, there is no other. That’s why its nature is said to be love. It’s alone, but not lonely.’
