ABB, a world leader in robotic press automation.
ABB's experience in automation of press lines started more than 40 years ago
when Volvo installed its first line in 1973 with Dopen Automation in Sweden.
20 years later, in 1993, we were pioneers again,
installing the first fully automated robotic press line.
Over these past 40 years, our deep experience has been integrated into all our products,
ensuring proven, reliable and cost-effective solutions to our customers.
Today, more than 1,000 press lines have been automated worldwide by ABB.
Our global team, with more than 200 press automation experts,
located in Barcelona, Seoul, Shanghai, Toronto and other locations in our global network,
spanning 53 countries and more than 4,000 employees,
enables an unmatched combination of global know-how and local relationships.
The end result is continuous innovation for fast,
flexible and user-friendly solutions in press automation.
Established in 1966, Dacia was the first Romanian car manufacturer.
Today, as part of the Renault Group,
it is currently one of Europe's largest car manufacturers by volume.
More than 90% of its 330,000 vehicle production is exported.
The XL Tandem press line at Dacia's Romanian factory was automated by ABB
and consists of seven IRB 7600FX robots for parts feeding, transferring and unloading the five presses.
The solution includes mechanical destacking, a vision system for location of blanks,
carbon fiber tooling, noise-proof safety fencing
and a friendly software user interface to facilitate the operation.
All equipment is synchronized to produce up to 12 strokes per minute for XL parts.
With the IRB 7600FX, ABB has set a new standard for XL press lines,
achieving a large installed base within all major car manufacturers.
