Lassie - Season 2 - Episode 17 - The Epidemic - FULL EPISODE

They call me lessee, if you need somebody, I will never let you down. I will find the key, you can trust in me, I'm a friend to everyone. And I go, go under the rainbow, I will hear you call, you call. And I go, go never take it slow, I will help you all, you all. I think Lassie might even be more excited about this hike than we are. My new luxury garden wing is going to quadruple wedding bookings for the hotel this winter. Hey! Watch out! Those plants are worth more than you are! I build a room with these plants on the inside, Mr. Humphrey. I don't think I get it. You shouldn't be thinking at all, Nick. And you certainly don't need to get it. You just need to do what I say. Come on! Lassie's waiting for us! You see something, girl? There! An eagle! It looks like it's having trouble flying. It might be hurt! Oh no! Wow! Nice job, Lassie! I think it just fainted. Wait, maybe not. Look at all these blue spots here along its beak. What are they? I don't know, but my mom might. Let's get this poor little guy back to the clinic. This is the fourth sick animal that's been found with these symptoms today. It's okay, Lassie. They're all running fevers and seem weak from dehydration. But I'll do my best to care for them. What is it, Mrs. Parker? A disease? Some kind of poison? I don't know. But I'm going to send samples to the lab in Jefferson City and find out. Jefferson City? How long will that take? At least a day or two. But we can't wait that long! More animals could be getting sick out there right now! Zoe, we don't even know what we're dealing with here. What can we possibly do? I don't know, but we have to try to do something! Zoe, there could be a risk for Lassie, too. Until we know more, don't let Lassie eat or drink anything in the park. I promise, Mom. We'll be extra careful, won't we, girl? Did you see how kind Lassie was to all those poor sick animals? We should be doing something to help, too. Is Lassie all you ever think about? Well, yeah. Kind of. Don't you see what's going on in there? It looks like animals are getting sick all over the park! And last time I checked, we are definitely animals. If we really want to help, the best thing we can do is avoid getting sick ourselves. Pika's right! We need to put ourselves into isolation right away! Who's with me? We all are. Just one question. What does putting ourselves into isolation mean exactly? We need to be looking for clues! You're right! But if you'll just slow down for a sec, I have an idea that might help us look in the right place! Sick animals were found here, here, and here. See? There's a cluster in this area. If you follow it upstream, it leads right to the bottom of Cedar Falls. That's it! Well done, Harvey! Let's go there and check it out! See? If we isolate ourselves from everyone else, all we have to do is wait here until the whole epidemic is over. That makes sense. Sure. If none of us come or go, there's no way we can become infected. But what if... what if one of us is already infected? Then none of us would be safe! Achoo! Every animal must die! Can't be a coincidence. Don't go near that water! Zoe, it's okay. Lassie has more sense than both of us put together. I know, but if she got sick, I just couldn't bear it. We need to find out what's causing this, Harvey! We will. I promise. Do you hear that? Zoe! Hold up! Well, wait for me! Where it was, it's gone now. Check it out! Tire tracks! And look! More of that blue stuff! There are footprints over here. Look at this! It's the same blue stuff! Come on! Let's follow the tracks! No more tracks. We need to go back! Look for more clues! Those are truck tires. Instead of looking for more clues, we just need to work out where they came from. Well, there were a bunch of trucks at Humphrey's new construction site back at the hotel. Of course! That's gotta be it! Come on! Zoe! Wait! Listen to me! Come on! No time to lose! Hang in there. We're gonna have you feeling better in no time. I promise. But Zoe! We don't know for sure! I mean, there's no conclusive evidence! I know! That's why we have to find some! Lassie! You're infected! If any of us were infected, I think it's safe to say we all are now. This is terrible! I might never see Lassie again! Guys, I have a final request. Let me guess, lover boy. It probably involves Lassie? Well, yeah. So? So maybe I have a final request, too! I have a long list, actually. But I said it first! So what? That doesn't mean... Guys! This is no way for friends to be spending their final hours together. There's a perfectly fair way to resolve this. Tras-tras! It could be any one of these trucks. If we make a plaster cast of the tracks, we can compare them to the tiles. Let's check inside for more clues first. What are they using? What is it, girl? A stack of empty blue paint cans! Blue paint! Wow! It's the paint! That's what's making the animal sick! It's exactly the same color as the traces we found. But we need to get a sample and... Let me guess. More tests? It's the only way to know for sure that it's toxic. Everything is under your nose, and you still need more proof? Footprints from before! Nick's the culprit! We've got to tell my father! He's the only one who can stop the construction work! Zoe, wait! We need to get these paint samples tested first! No, we need to stop Nick and Humphrey before any more animals get sick! No, that's impossible. But Dad! I understand how upset you are, Zoe, but I can't just close down the construction at the hotel. We don't even know for certain what is making the animals sick. But Dad, you have to... Tell him, Harvey! This is serious! It is serious! But that's exactly why we need to get proof and make sure that we're right! Zoe, don't worry. I'm going to look into everything you told me and get to the bottom of it. I swear. But it could be too late by then! I just wish there was a faster way to analyze this paint. Don't worry! There is! Doc Dudley! Harvey! What? Are you coming? While you're with Doc Dudley, Lassie and I will go back to Cedar Falls! What for? We've got to understand how the paint got into the river! Okay then! I'll meet you there! Bye! Come on! Time to go! Delicious fresh food! Awesome! Thanks for this delicious last meal, guys! Okay! Who goes next? Was it you, Houdini? You better believe it! Okay! Somebody better write this down! Sorry, Houdini, but I think we might get back to you on that one. Who's next? Pika? My guess! But I think it might be a bit early for last requests. None of us are even sick yet! Well, if you pass, that means it's my turn, right? Sure, I guess. Lassie, right? Let's get it over with! Doc! It's Harvey! Harvey? Please, come in! Did you find something? That's why I've brought you this sample. Very interesting! Can you tell if the paint is toxic? Well, I don't know. Of course I can! I'm a genius! I'll start running the tests right away! Ha! Just kidding! I was right! It was Nick! Can you see him? He's dumping the empty paint cans there, isn't he? Oh, no, not again! Stupid paint! Lassie? You're polluting the entire valley with that paint, Nick! What are you talking about? Animals are getting sick because of you! Because of me? As soon as my father arrives, you'll have to explain yourself! Come on, there's nothing to explain. As I've already told you, I've got nothing to do with this outbreak you keep talking about. Zoe, what's going on here? Dad, don't worry, I'm fine. But you've got to stop Nick right now! I saw him tossing out empty paint cans at the top of Cedar Falls! I wasn't throwing them out! I was putting them out for recycling to pick up! Nice try, Nick, but my dad's too smart to fall for a story like that, aren't you, Dad? Dad? Sorry, Zoe, but Nick has a point. That area is zoned for picking up and recycling. That's exactly where he was supposed to put those empty paint cans. What? Wait! It has to be the paint that's making the animals sick! Doc says... Your mouth! I saw this! Zoe, it's true! Doc tested the paint. It's environmentally approved and perfectly safe. So, it's not the paint? Good. Everything is fine. I'll be on my way then. Graff, are you there? I saw him tossing out empty paint cans at the top of Cedar Falls. I just got the initial lab results from Jefferson City. Their condition is the result of some unknown natural biotoxin. I just hope we can identify the toxin and figure out the source before it's too late. I'm really sorry, Harvey. I was completely wrong about everything. No, Zoe. You were right to come out here and look for answers. It was better than just waiting around. Yeah, but you told me we needed to wait until the paint was tested. I should have listened. Just because the paint isn't causing the outbreak doesn't mean there isn't some sort of connection. The blue paint out here still traces back to the hotel. But if it isn't the paint, what else could it be? Grassy, don't drink that! She's not drinking. She found something. They look like some kind of seeds. Have you ever seen them before? Mm-mm. Hmm. This is the seed to a plant known as Indian licorice. It's very toxic. That's what's causing the animals to get sick! But this plant comes from tropical regions very, very far away. But how did exotic seeds like these end up in the park? Come on, Zoe. We have to go tell your mother right away. The seeds definitely made the animals sick. The good news is that now that we know the source of the toxin, I can begin treatment right away. But we still need to figure out how those exotic seeds got into the park in the first place. We need more clues and more information. Dad, can we go back to the hotel construction site? Absolutely. There she is! Now go fulfill your final wish. Now get off her feet, you heartbreaker, you! But she's leaving! Then so are you! Go ahead, Romeo! Hello. Looks like Nick's in a big hurry to get out of here. Hey! Get out of the way! Help! Dog attack! Huh? What am I talking about? It's Lassie! Huh? Red and black seeds? You again? What is your problem? Are you okay, Zoe? Look at this! These were in Nick's van. Are you thinking what I'm thinking? Maybe paint wasn't the only thing that Nick left out there. I don't get it. They're just seeds. These seeds poisoned the animals. This is my private property. Mind telling me what's going on here? Reporting exotic plants here is against the law. They threaten the ecosystem in this valley. But this is an indoor garden. These plants aren't in contact with the environment. That's where you're wrong. The plants may never have come into contact with the environment, but the seeds did, thanks to Nick. Every time Nick moved those empty paint cans out of the back of his van, he rinsed off his boots. He was spreading those seeds every time he rinsed off his boots. You fool! You spread those seeds in the park! They were just a few seeds. Just a few seeds are what made this park grow, Nick. And the ones he's been spreading around could destroy it. You are my little sugar duckling. Oh, princess of my dreams. You are my little sugar duckling. I mean duckling. You are my little sugar duckling. Oh, princess of my dreams. The van! The seeds! The land! Lassie! Lassie, don't! Lassie! Abracadabra! What are you doing here? I, uh... Actually, I wanted to tell you, um, my duckling dream sugar... Thank you for showing me the handbrake, Biff. You're a hero. I am? I mean, I am! I... Lassie! Just in time. Good job. Lucky you didn't damage my van. You'll be formally charged with pollution and breach of park preservation rules. You're going to need those new wedding profits just to cover the hefty fines. You were right about waiting for the right information before doing anything. But it was you refusing to wait that led us to the hotel and the construction site. Your theory may not have been right, but your instincts were. Thanks, Harvey. I guess that means we were both right, huh? I guess so. But that's what makes us such a great team. That, and having Lassie on our side. You can say that again.
