FRANK LAMPARD Is A VERY Good MANAGER! In this video, I talk about the managerial career of Frank Lampard. Lampard is currently managing at Coventry City. Lampard took over as Coventry manager from Mark Robbins in November. Frank Lampard has overseen Coventry City move from 17th in the Championship table to 5th in the space of just over four months at Coventry City. Will Lampard get Coventry promoted this season? Let me know your thoughts on Frank Lampard as a manager in the comments below!
Yes guys, Frank Lampard is doing something very special at Coventry City.
In today's video, I'm going to tell you why Frank Lampard isn't another one of your Gary Neville
at Valencia, your Paul Scholes at Oldham. We all know what happened there. Wayne Rooney at Plymouth,
that didn't work out so well. Steven Gerrard, what is he doing with his managerial career now?
Frank Lampard is back at the forefront and right now he's absolutely killing it and I'm going to
tell you today why Frank Lampard is a good football manager. Let's go.
Now obviously if you watch a more GBFC or a George Benson Football Channel video,
there will be some bias towards Frank Lampard because I'm a Chelsea fan. In my opinion,
Chelsea's greatest ever player, this was the last goal that he scored for Chelsea against Stoke.
There's always passion when Frank Lampard is out there on the pitch scoring 211 goals for Chelsea
and then seeing him in the dugout in 2019 was a pretty amazing feeling as a Chelsea fan.
But let's take it back to when he started managing at Derby County. So Lampard took
over at Derby in May 2018 prior to the start of the 18-19 season, notably taking Mason Mount
on loan from Chelsea. It was a good start for Derby with a 2-1 win at the Medeski Stadium,
Lampard's first win as a manager. By the end of that season, they knocked Man United out of the
cup. They finished sixth in the championship but unfortunately for both Derby and Frank,
it was a playoff final defeat and since then Derby County have never really recovered. But
it's not a bad first season in management for super Frank Lampard. So there's no denying as
a Chelsea fan that when Frank Lampard first took over the club in July 2019, he couldn't have
really walked into any more of a difficult situation. A bloody transfer ban for starters,
Chelsea selling their best player of the past five years at the time, Eden Hazard,
how we still miss him to this very day. But somehow with a load of young academy players
coming through, super Frank manages to guide Chelsea to a fourth place finish in the Premier
League. And listen, I followed Chelsea home, away, across Europe that season and I genuinely don't
feel as though there was ever such a great connection between the fans and the manager.
Seeing one of your best ever ex-players in the dugout and managing to do so well against all
of the odds really for Chelsea was a brilliant feeling, not just at the club but for the fans
and the connection that Lampard had built, not only as that player but as the manager. Celebrating
with the fans on big away days and during and after big wins, the feeling at Chelsea was good.
During that second season at Chelsea, languishing down in ninth place in the Premier League,
Frank Lampard was sacked by Roman Abramovich and then Roman Abramovich brings in Thomas Tuchel
and inevitably Chelsea get that second star, second Champions League win. At the same time,
you can't just turn around and be like, well Lampard isn't good enough and shut Lampard out.
A lot of people in that moment, having been sacked and then seeing your team go and win the
Champions League a few months later, a lot of people would have given up. But no, this for me
was the making of Lampard. He didn't just go and think, well I've got a high IQ,
could be a great pundit. He stuck with management. Let's move on from here.
Fast forward an entire year to January 2022 and Frank Lampard gets another Premier League job,
this time taking over at Everton. He takes over, they're 16th in the Premier League,
in a relegation battle and Frank Lampard somehow managed to keep a struggling Everton side up.
You go from Chelsea, a team that demands success, to a club the size of Everton and obviously
Everton did not want to be in a relegation battle. Lampard keeps them up but from there,
moving into that next season, he then gets fired from Everton with Everton sat down in 19th place
in the Premier League table. And again, this is another moment where you could look at Frank
Lampard as a manager and be like, well he's not really done much here. He kept Everton in the
Premier League and now, it looks as though he might get them relegated. Where does Frank Lampard
as a manager go from here? He joins the shitshow at Chelsea Football Club for a caretaker spell
where he only gets one win and we were absolutely shite, weren't we? And at this point, the whole
footballing world is like, Frank, get out mate. Sit on the pundit panel, but no. After a spell
of a couple of years of suffering as a manager, learning as a young manager, not giving up,
Frank Lampard has come in to Coventry City, taken over from Mark Robbins, who got the club,
to an FA Cup final, to a playoff final. Coventry thought that those opportunities, those moments
where they could be successful, whether that's winning a cup, promotion to the Premier League,
maybe the dream was over. Coventry were languishing down in 17th place in the Championship table.
Frank Lampard has come in, he sees a job. And right now, Coventry are off the back of nine
wins out of their last 10 games. 27 out of 30 possible points in a league which is always
up and down. Teams can go on crazy runs and Coventry are that team to go on a crazy run.
Frank Lampard is doing an absolutely stellar, superb, sensational job at Coventry City and
they are currently sat 5th place. Momentum in the Championship is absolutely everything.
They're the team right now that nobody can get close to. And to have done this job between
November and March, it's almost similar to what Tuchel did when he took over Lampard at Chelsea.
If Frank Lampard wins promotion with Coventry City this season, there's absolutely no doubt
in my mind that he will go into Coventry City folklore as one of their best managers in recent
times, for sure. Coventry have not been in the Premier League in so long and the way that Lampard
has somehow galvanised this club together, when they thought that they'd been so close to glory
and they didn't make it, that would have been their only chance. But no, Lampard has come in,
the players are fighting for him, the fans are absolutely loving it. In such a difficult league
to come in and have this kind of impact, tells me that Frank Lampard is still a very good manager
and he's still learning. This is the brilliant thing. People think that if you're not as good
as Mourinho, not as good as Guardiola, then you can't sit at the top table. But Frank Lampard is
a smart guy. He always wants to learn, always wants to get better, always wants to go the extra
mile to ensure that he's giving his best for whatever it is that he's doing. And look, I think
Frank will get another big job someday. Maybe it's not going to be at Chelsea for a third stint,
but I'll tell you what, seeing him do what he's doing right now at Coventry, as a football fan
and a Chelsea fan and someone who's always loved Frank Lampard, I'm absolutely delighted for him
and I'm delighted for a club like Coventry City as well. Good luck for the rest of the season
and maybe we'll be seeing Frank in a Premier League dugout again next season for the club that
he actually gets promoted this time and it'll probably be through the playoffs. So I don't
think Coventry are going to get those automatic promotion places, but nine wins in the last 10
games and seeing these fans experiencing the same things that we experienced at Chelsea,
I'm delighted for the bloke. Let me know your thoughts on Lampard as a manager in the comments
down below and I'll see you guys in the next video.
