March is such a beautiful month in the English countryside.
The days are getting longer and warmer and nature is springing back to life, giving us
sunshine and the first spring flowers.
I'm feeling this new fresh energy too.
I want to move and do stuff.
Last week I mentioned that I started a sewing project for the kitchen window and many of
you guessed that it's going to be curtains.
I promise I wasn't trying to be mysterious or keep you in suspense.
I simply wasn't sure if I was being overly ambitious.
Sewing even small cottage style curtains by hand feels like a lot for someone with just
basic sewing knowledge and even less experience.
But I've been thinking about getting little curtains for the kitchen window for a while.
I feel inspired to try to make them myself.
It must be the spring energy and the world waking up that make me want to take on a new
hobby and learn to sew things for my home.
To be completely honest with you, sewing these curtains felt the same way as when I first
started making my videos.
I kind of struggled but deep down it felt easy and I knew that if I took time to learn
editing, making thumbnails and kept practicing, I will be able to produce a decent video.
It's the same with sewing.
My lines are wonky and my hand is unsteady, but I can feel that if I keep practicing,
I will be able to sew nice things for my home and family.
Andrei made dinner and in the evening we sat on the sofa watching a movie.
My husband chose the movie for tonight, The Matrix.
Such a classic, even if it's a bit cringy at times.
I guess for us millennials it's an oldie but goldie.
Andrei remarked how much he enjoyed this movie as a teenager.
To think that we are now in our mid-thirties being parents ourselves to a teenage boy.
It really makes you realize how precious each day is as they pass by so fast.
Set in the idyllic Dorset countryside is a church whose name has been forgotten.
No records of its dedication exist and local folklore says that the surrounding village
was destroyed in a fire during the Black Death in the 14th century.
Historians believe that a church at this site must have existed since around the 10th century
and the oldest parts of the current church, including this doorway, date back to the 12th century.
It has been rebuilt and reconstructed many times through the centuries,
including a tower that was added in the 16th century.
I don't even know how to put this into words, but this is all I want from life.
Spending my time in the countryside and in the quiet places full of history.
Then going back to my own peaceful home.
This is not the big luxurious life many people dream of, but it's everything I want.
A life that looks good because I'm surrounded by everything I love.
But even more importantly, a life that truly feels good.
My cottage curtains are ready.
I'm not even going to pretend, I am very proud of myself.
Let's hang them and see how they look.
Babe, do you want to have a look?
Who is this nesting wife?
I made curtains.
and I'm glad to report that daffodil season has definitely begun here.
There are thousands of them all around the grounds,
making this one of my favorite places to visit in early March.
It's incredibly uplifting to see all these yellow heads making our world beautiful again.
This is my favorite area.
I love this path surrounded by daffodils in bloom.
It's becoming a tradition that Andrei and I come here in early March to admire this place.
If you are wondering what's different, I dyed my hair.
Those of you who read my blog know that in January I decided to stop straightening my hair
and instead focus on taking care of my natural curls.
I also want to go back to my natural hair color, as I don't want to bleach my hair anymore.
I think this color has a bit too much of red undertone for me,
but thankfully I did the right thing and used a hair dye that washes off.
So I'll keep experimenting with shades of brown until I get it right
and find the closest match to my natural hair color.
Anyway, my video wouldn't be complete without baking.
Honestly, I've been baking so much recently, almost every other day.
There's always homemade cake or cookies in our home.
Today I'm making lemon muffins to complement this lovely sunny weather we're having in the West Country.
With everything around us awakening and springing back to life,
I feel like our food should also reflect that.
After a long and grey winter, it's important to eat your greens,
fresh fruits and vegetables, especially the ones that are in season.
But also don't deprive yourself of a piece of cake or your favorite chocolate.
Life is meant to be celebrated and enjoyed, and I don't know about you,
but I do love to take a moment for myself midday with a muffin, tea and a book.
I don't think I'll look back at my life and ever regret having a quiet moment,
enjoying homemade cake or reading a book.
But I might regret if I don't make enough time for myself
and I let chasing big goals stop me from enjoying the little things in life.
Thank you so much for watching and I'll see you soon!
