In South India, in Karnataka state, on the banks of the Tungabhadra river,
Vijaynagar kingdom's Hampi city is still in existence.
In Vijaynagar kingdom, it was ruled by many seven dynasties like the great ruler Krishnadevaraya.
Later, in 1565, through the Deccan kingdom, in the Battle of Talikota,
the Vijaynagar kingdom was looted for six months and was completely destroyed.
Despite enduring a hundred years of war with the vast Deccan kingdom,
Hampi city still has its art and culture,
the Asian temples here, the diamond and pearl markets here,
historical monuments, the beautiful nature here,
musical pillars, mandapas,
and the scriptures carved in the stones here,
and the famous coral ride here attract all the tourists.
To reach Hampi, the nearest railway station is Hospet Junction.
Hampi is 13 km away from Hospet Railway Station,
and to reach Hampi from the railway station, you can easily reach by auto or bus.
And to travel in Hampi, you can hire an auto in front of Luna Bike, Cycle or Virupaksha Temple.
You can start your first day in Hampi from the Virupaksha Temple built in the 15th century and located on the banks of the Tungabhadra River,
which is located in the main market of Hampi.
And this temple is dedicated to Lord Virupaksha and his wife, Devi Pampa.
Lord Virupaksha is the only form of Lord Shiva, and the Shiva Linga inside this temple is Shiva Linga.
Lord Shiva himself had given this temple to Ravana.
This temple was built by Queen Lokmadevi of King Vikramaditya II after the victory of King Vikramaditya over King Pallava of Kanchipuram.
Later, King Krishnadevaraya of the Vijayanagara Empire had got this 9-storied Gopuram built during his abhishek in 1509.
You will see this small hole in the temple and when the sun rays come in from here, you can see the shadow of the Gopuram outside.
But the Gopuram is straight, its shadow is seen in the opposite direction.
This is the specialty of this place.
And in this temple, you will see this elephant, i.e. Lakshmi, which blesses everyone.
Near the Virupaksha temple, on top of the Hemkuta mountain, this is the statue of Kadle Kalu Ganesh.
There used to be a big stone right here.
Breaking that big stone and carving it, this is the statue of 18 feet Ganesh.
And on the south-eastern slope of this mountain, you can also see the statue of Shashive Kalu Ganesh.
And in the same place, in the 15th century, the royal family used to worship this Ganesh.
Later, in 1565, this statue was completely demolished by the Bahamani Sultanate.
Now we are inside the Shri Krishna Temple built by King Krishnadevaraya.
And King Krishnadevaraya is a devotee of Lord Shri Krishna.
That is why his coronation was on the day of Gokul Ashtami.
And King Krishnadevaraya, after winning over the king of Odisha,
the king brought the statue of Shri Krishna from the same place
and established that statue in this temple.
And as of now, the statue of Shri Krishna is kept safe in the Government Museum of Chennai.
Above the Gopuram of this temple,
a picture of the Udayagiri campaign of King Krishnadevaraya has been described.
And inside this temple, a colorful pavilion has been made.
On the pillar of that pavilion, the statue of Shri Krishna and Vaishnava figures
are carved on the same pillar.
And right in front of this temple, you can see the Krishna Bazaar.
This bazaar was famous for food items at that time.
Near Krishna Temple, you will see the biggest statue of Laxmi Narasimha Ji
of the Vijayanagara Empire.
Laxmi Narasimha Ji is the fourth of the ten incarnations of Lord Vishnu,
who appeared to protect the devotee Prahlad and kill Hiranyakashi.
In 1528, on the order of King Krishnadevaraya,
this statue was erected by Purohit Krishna Bhatta.
Near the Laxmi Narasimha statue,
you will see this 3-meter-high Shivling made of one rock.
And the lower part of this Shivling is filled with water all year round.
And this water comes from the Tungabhadra River through the 500-year-old canal.
Now we are at Vijay Vithala Temple,
The construction of this temple was started by Devaraya Pratham.
Inside this temple, where Dravid Shaili is seen,
there is Adi Narayan, Laxmi Narayan Mandir, Kalyan Mandapa,
Bhojanshala and beautiful scriptures and beautiful carvings.
Despite this temple being beautiful,
there is no statue of Lord Vithala in this temple.
To see Lord Vithala, you will have to go to Pandarpur, Maharashtra.
In front of this temple, you will see this Sangeet Mandapa.
In this mandapa, there are 56 pillars.
And by playing these pillars, 70 types of melodious music comes out.
And at this place, the king used to listen to music.
In front of the Sangeet Mandapa, you will see this world-famous stone chariot.
This stone chariot is a temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu's vehicle Garuda Ji.
It is also called Garuda Mandir.
And this stone chariot is made of 7 different layers of interlocking system.
And outside this temple, you will see this king's balance.
At this place, the king used to weigh his precious jewels and distribute them among the poor.
To see the sunset in Hampi,
all tourists come to this Hemkuta mountain near the Virupaksha temple.
And here you will see many small beautiful temples.
And by carving on the stones, you can also see the scriptures made here.
And from this place, you can see the beautiful sunset of Hampi city.
And from here, you can see the 180-degree view of the Virupaksha temple.
So in this way, you can end the day 1 in Hampi by watching the sunset.
In Hampi, I started the next day with the underground Shiva temple of Hampi's Royal Enclosure,
which is also known as Prasanna Virupaksha Bhoomigat Shiva Mandir.
This Shiva temple built in the 14th century is from the time of King Krishnadevaraya.
This temple was underground for decades.
In 1980, this temple was excavated by the Archaeological Survey of India and restored.
And because this temple is underground, it is called the Underground Shiva Temple.
And a lot of this temple has now disappeared.
After coming a little further from the Underground Shiva Temple,
you will see this platform.
From here, you can see a very good historical panoramic view.
And here you will see this Nobleman's Quarter.
This is a historical place.
The ministers, commanders of this dynasty used to live here.
And more than 15 palaces were built here to live.
Now we are inside the Royal Enclosure.
And as soon as you come inside, you will first see this low foundation of the Queen's Palace.
At some point in time, this place was the Queen's grand palace,
which was made of gold, silver and diamonds.
Later, in the Battle of Talikota, it was completely destroyed and looted by the Burmese Empire.
Around the Queen's Palace, you will see these three large watchtowers.
At this place, men were not allowed to come.
So in this watchtower, Janana, that is, transgender,
used to always stand guard for the safety of the Queen.
Here you will see the two-story Lotus Palace of the Queen,
which used to be the Queen's Summer Palace,
which is made in the Indo-Islamic style.
And its design is inspired by lotus flowers.
And in the 16th century, it used to work as an AC.
There are 13 pipes in the pillar of this palace.
And water used to be filled in the dome of this palace.
And when the water used to wet all the walls with the pipe and the wind used to blow,
this AC also worked in this way.
Here you will see the Elephant Stable.
During the time of King Krishnadevaraya, the Dussehra Festival was celebrated.
And in that festival, the journey of 11 elephants was taken out.
And this Elephant Stable has been built to accommodate the same 11 elephants.
And there is also a place near it for the elephants to stay.
Which the government has now converted this place into a museum.
This Hazara Rama Temple is built in the center of Rajprangan.
The first opportunity for donation given by Queen Annala Devi was found in 1416.
So according to this, the construction of this temple may be of the 14th or 15th century.
And this temple is dedicated to Lord Vishnu in the form of Rama.
On the walls of this temple, Ramayana, Bhagwat,
the donation made by the king, Vaishnava saint,
the bow broken by Lord Rama in the form of Sita,
Sita Haran, many such religious events have been told.
And you will definitely be happy to see this.
Now we are near the secret chamber of the king.
Which is an underground chamber built inside the ground.
At this place, the king used to have secret meetings with his ministers and secretaries.
And to enter this chamber, you can go through this secret tunnel
and reach the main chamber of this chamber.
After the victory of King Krishnadevaraya over the kingdom of Odisha,
Vijayasmaranartha built this big Siyasan, which is called Mahanavami Dibba.
And people of the royal family used to sit on this big platform
and watch the Hindu programs such as Mahanavami, Dashera, Vijaya Dasmi.
In the royal area, you will see this square-shaped and made of black stones,
a water well.
And the water of this well was used for religious rituals.
And through this small stone canal, rainwater was stored in this well.
In the last part of the royal area, you will see the queen's bathhouse,
which is made in the Indo-Islamic style.
And through this canal, water was stored in this swimming pool.
And this swimming pool was used by the members of the royal family.
And the structure in which the Islamic style has been used,
that structure has not been broken by invaders.
So in this way, you can plan a tour of Hampi in 3 days.
But it may take you 4 to 5 days to visit the whole of Hampi.
And your budget to visit Hampi can range from 4000 to 7000.
