After the Boeing Star liner Calypso limped back to Earth without its crew last September, many wondered if it was the end of the road for the program. At the time, analysts believed Boeing would fight to keep Star liner alive, viewing it as a potential lifeline amidst struggles in its defense business.
But now, the situation has drastically changed. Star liner has gone from a beacon of hope to a ticking time bomb! The financial bleeding seems endless, with losses now topping a staggering $2 billion—that's one-sixth of Boeing's total losses in 2024.

We're now in early February, and according to NASA's schedule, we're just two months away from seeing next month, we will see the much-anticipated return to Earth of NASA astronauts Suni Williams and Butch Wilmore, who flew on the Boeing Star liner last June and were stuck on the ISS ever since.
The Boeing Crew Flight Test, launched on June 5, 2024, with NASA astronauts Butch Wilmore and Suni Williams, experienced several issues including thruster malfunctions as Star liner approached the International Space Station. Helium leaks also posed ongoing problems throughout the mission. After investigation, NASA determined it too risky to return Wilmore and Williams on Star liner. The Star liner spacecraft returned to Earth without a crew on September 7, 2024, landing at White Sands Space Harbor in New Mexico. The astronauts will return aboard the SpaceX Crew-9 spacecraft as early as March 19.
