The all-wheel drive Cutlass himself.
You guys know the drift taxi.
It's unbelievable to me that here at This Versus That, where we're out here, we have
incredible cars, professional race car drivers, home-built cars, seven-second cars, all-wheel
drive cars, anything you can imagine.
And what are you always at?
Everything that's here.
He's always at the Hemet.
We're taking this thing home.
I wish we were racing this today.
But what we are racing is a pretty rad, pretty crazy matchup.
Both of these cars you should know.
A prime example of once you're in the Hoonigan circle, you never leave the Hoonigan circle.
But these two cars have never been in the same place together until now.
Well, should we just walk over and check them out?
Yeah.
No one wants to hear us.
We have Mr. Brian King, the all-wheel drive Cutlass himself.
You've seen this car at the burn yard.
Now we have him at This Versus That.
By the way, Soupy has so many questions.
Let's just let Soupy lead.
Soupy, you lead.
Go, Soupy.
What is it first, right?
I hear it's all-wheel drive.
It's a truck.
It's this.
What is it?
It's just an 82 Olds Cutlass with some SS Trailblazer parts in it, basically.
What did I tell you?
The way it was explained to me, it's just this with this put together.
But the second you start looking at this thing, it doesn't make any sense.
Like, why is it not 17 feet up in the air?
There are a couple of subtle things.
Like, you start walking up to this thing and you get a few little hints, right?
This is your first hint.
Right here.
Carbon fiber wheel arch.
I did all that.
You laid the carbon yourself.
I laid all the carbon myself.
Are you a carbon fiber daddy?
Yep, sure.
There's also like tons of plumbing in here.
You've got, I'm assuming, some sort of air charger coming to the back of the brakes on
that one?
Yep.
That's really cool.
Because on the outside, it looks pretty normal.
It does.
Like, you've seen this car at like Cars and Coffee and things like that at Thousand Heights.
It's not until you look under it that you're like, oh, this isn't just a G-Body.
Yeah, I just wanted to kind of keep it kind of low-key look, you know?
Or then all of a sudden we start it up and it's like, oh, wait a minute.
Listen, we know that it's a low-key thing because you got the streetfire.net cam in
the back.
Yeah.
We know what that's there for.
Immediately goes on when you hit the hazards.
You hear that and a loud fuel pump, you're like, oh, I'm about to get hit.
You guys seen the inside?
You normally pop the hood, but look at it.
I've seen the inside and I want to look at the inside again.
This is, it's unbelievable.
Look at the dash.
Whole carbon fiber daddy dash.
And you did this all yourself?
Yep.
All my garage, yep.
For the people who are watching who aren't drag racers, explain your shifter setup here.
Basically, the car, the Hurst Olds edition came in factory with that lightning rod shifter is
what they call them.
A shifter closest to you controls park, reverse, neutral, overdrive.
Then you get in third.
Then the next shifter would be the three, two.
After that would be the two, one.
So as you're racing down the track, you pop them if you want to go that route.
So you pull the first one back into drive and then you pull all the other ones back.
Starting first, slap it forward.
Yep.
You just pop them if you go.
It's basically like early sequential concepts.
Yeah, just a fancy, fancy.
Watch this, slap, slap, slap.
Should I just lock it in overdrive and just hang onto the wheel and smile?
What are you running for a motor?
It's a Texas Speed and Performance 427 LSX.
Can we take a look?
Can we see?
Yeah, absolutely.
Soupy, I haven't seen you this excited in a while.
This is great.
More carbon.
Oh, damn.
Dang.
This usually means you lose.
That's exactly what that means.
The way his fuel pressure regulator is mounted is more engineering than I have in my entire Novo.
You see the lack of zip ties though?
Yeah, I tried hiding those the best I could.
Or at least he flush cuts them.
Juan was asking, how much horsepower does this make?
840 at the tires.
840 to the tire.
Okay, to all four tires.
What's up, guys?
Travis Pastrana here, and I want to give you a one-of-a-kind
Subaru street-legal version of my Gymkhana car.
I'm teaming up with Omaze to support two great causes to give you guys the chance to win this
custom WRX STI with taxes and shipping included, plus 20 grand cash.
My race team built this car as a tribute to the STI that I drove in Gymkhana 11.
All you have to do is go to omaze.com slash hoonigan and enter for your chance to win.
Yo, by the way, I don't even know where Tanner went.
We should totally just tell him that this thing's rear-wheel drive.
I know.
LS swap.
Yeah.
Whatever, Scotto.
I heard every freaking word of that.
First of all, let me just walk over here and...
All-wheel drive.
Come on.
Well, I converted this to all-wheel drive too while we were away.
Well, this thing was front-wheel drive, and you made it rear-wheel drive.
It's very similar.
Yeah, yeah.
Very, very close.
Now, you guys know the drift taxi.
Honestly, I want to see the goods.
I want to see the goods.
All right, let's see the goods.
Show us the goods, but tell us who you are, too.
I'm Tanner.
My name is Tanner.
Are you joking right now?
X Games gold medalist, Formula Drift champion, rallycross winner.
Your favorite actor driving in an action film.
Tanner Faust.
Can you talk about who you doubled in the past?
Yeah.
Does that give a quick list?
I mean, the most obvious one is Chris Hemsworth.
Yeah, obviously.
I get him a lot.
Most car scenes, it's Paul Walker from those, and then Matt Damon from the Bourne movies.
Jesus Christ, it's...
Foxy Tan-Tan.
The Rock's brother, of course.
That's another...
It's more of a body double at that point.
I've been very fortunate to work with a lot of super cool people.
And you'd be surprised, a lot of those A-lister guys are super big car nuts.
Can somebody hold this man's hood, please?
That ain't us.
It's 2021, why change our ways?
Yeah, exactly.
Honestly, I know we got the eight into one header.
That's the centerpiece of all this.
But personally, I don't know why, I geek out so much about...
Scotto, you know what I'm going to geek about in this engine bay.
Look at the sway bar.
Look at that sway bar mount.
A, how big it is.
But B, where it's mounted.
That's a crazy setup in there.
That's not where I thought you'd be going.
I actually thought you were going to go to the headers, but...
Well, that's what I said was the centerpiece.
That's the best looking thing in here, obviously.
And when you say they built it, who is that who built the...
Papadakis.
Yep, Stefan, your old friend.
Yeah, he put this together, which you recognize.
Like he, I think he kind of started...
That's a very Stef-type setup.
Yeah, this has a lot of kind of the regular recipe items you find in the Papadakis shops.
The G-Force transmission, the Supra diff.
A lot of the time we were here and you came out and you raced.
He was the Mark IV Supra.
Against the Supra.
900 horsepower.
He gave us a ride along.
It was crazy because you actually...
The extra weight made this thing grip.
And I think it actually ran faster with like 700 pounds of man meat inside.
Like 900 pounds, but it was...
Big boys club.
Holy crap.
Look how tiny this car looks now.
It's been a pandemic.
I mean, a lot of...
It's the COVID...
The COVID positive.
The gym's closed.
There's actually a lot of leg room in this thing.
Is that...
There it is, Tanner.
There's the Tanner we know and love.
That's the Tanner I know.
My favorite thing is the whole drill through the taillight for the zip tie.
Respect.
It's still got a little JDM.
You can build a $200,000 drift car or a $1,000 drift car.
It's gonna have...
You're gonna drill it.
It's gonna have zip ties.
Is there anything cool to see in the trunk?
Fuel cell and an Optima battery.
Oh, there we go.
And Tanner just paid for his trip.
By the way, that's the illest trunk removal.
Yeah, it is.
Also, I like gauges in places that you don't expect to see gauges.
All right, so you got 700 horsepower.
How much does it weigh?
With me, I want to say 3,000, maybe a little more.
Okay, so around 3K.
Yep.
But with three homies, more traction.
More grip.
Yeah, it's gonna be a traction battle and maybe a power battle.
Brian's got a lot of power in that thing.
I looked at that car.
Yeah.
First of all, he's been nursing slash racing that thing since he was 16.
He says he didn't lose his virginity in it, but I'm not sure.
I didn't want the wife to know.
Well, he lost it to the car, which is the part he doesn't want to slip.
Oh, God.
This guy was tired of trying to do these things.
First, he f***s the car.
I went in there and let you say it's already been done, all right?
There was no resistance.
I think we're getting to the point where we need to just line these two up.
All right, so usually what we do is we just start out with the heads-up race.
We see how you guys stack up against each other and then we'll negotiate.
You guys cool with that?
Absolutely.
You want to go to 500,000, 1,500 feet?
As far as possible.
As far as possible?
Yeah, we need it all.
You want some topping.
Tanner needs to overcome the launch.
1,500 feet, heads up.
All right, let's do it.
As much as I know, the Tanner's taxi is an absolute weapon.
I have it on the G-Body.
If that thing ran nine seconds on the old setup,
I think he's packing something crazy for this one.
Any G-Body with that much carbon and a rear-facing camera has my vote,
so I go with all-wheel drive Cutlass.
Unlike everybody here, I've actually ridden in both cars.
I have nothing but respect for a real-life James Bond, which is Tanner Faust,
but that Cutlass is so fast.
I got that all day.
Look, man, let's be honest, okay?
All-wheel drive, 900-wheel horsepower.
Cutlass is going to get it.
Oh, boy.
Well, I really want to pull for my buddy, Foxy Tan-Tan.
Brian King, all-wheel drive, more power, more steeds.
How do you have more steeds than Tanner Faust?
This is called drag race casual.
I was going to say, does this mean we're all in trouble?
I had to do a Zoom call.
How soon does Tanner lose?
Right there.
At the donut mark?
Yeah.
Copy.
His launch, savage.
It's called donut, you got it.
Oh, it's right there to the right.
Man.
This thing digs.
I'll tell you right now, I think this is an invite back for Hoonicorn.
Well, that thing launches really hard, so that's what we want to do.
Yeah, I don't think anyone's expected it to be that much of a gap.
I was like, I can hear this thing making noise.
I saw like the light of day under his front tires.
Wow.
What's going to be your tactic to beat him?
I think it has to be a roll race.
You're not going to dig off that thing?
I'd race for sure.
I could use some body mass over the back tires.
I volunteer.
Oh, it did make a lap.
Man, you were watching from the sidelines.
You set up this race.
What?
Disrespectful.
Yo, I don't think anyone thought it was that fast.
Disrespectful.
This is Hoonicorn level fast.
I don't think it's Hoonicorn fast.
But it's fast.
And he gave him a car.
He did, yeah.
He gave him a car and let him run the roll.
And at some point, I think he wheelied on like third gear.
Oh, look at his manjis though.
Yo, that thing looked like a handful on that one.
I was fighting all over.
That was awesome, man.
What a sleeper this thing is.
So at this point, you've won, right?
Best two out of three.
You're the winner.
Congratulations.
Thank you.
What we like to do now is kind of do like a modified race to try to see if we can even
make it close.
Do we know what that was?
Two cars.
Two cars on a roll with that.
One that we could do we've done in the past with Hoonicorn is let the other person have
a roll and he goes from a stop.
Give him like a three car roll or something.
You want to try that?
Yep.
Sounds good to me.
All right.
So here's what we're offering.
Yeah, go.
He goes from a dig.
You get like a four or five car roll into it.
Four, six or seven.
Six or seven car nads.
So roll into it.
But you know what?
Change up the ballast.
Might be a better move.
Yeah.
I like Hurt's idea of taking the wing off too.
You want to take the wing off?
I would.
Let's get the Theo soupy.
You want to pop these?
All right.
So what we're going to do now is that Brian and the Cutlass is going to be from a dig
and Tanner is going to go from a roll all the way back there.
Probably.
Go ahead and spread it.
He just did what Tony did in the Ferrari.
Get the radar guys.
They go across the line like 98 miles.
Yeah.
Yes, today's going to be my cheat day.
Back up so he does it.
Back up, back up, back up.
Damn, that was sick.
Finish it off with a burnout.
Yeah, that was a good one.
Nice work, sir.
Hey, thanks.
That was fun.
So are we doing a read?
Are we calling it?
I mean, if these guys want to, but I mean.
Yeah, I think it's good.
I think that was just clearly too much.
This is the most stock looking 700 horsepower seen in my life.
This is going to be a good race.
This is it versus this.
It's the wrong show.
We're going water truck versus dance.
