WE DID THAT...

California Governor Gavin Newsom and Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass are under fire for their handling of a recent disaster, sparking outrage across the state. Frustrated residents are questioning why taxpayer dollars are being spent on diversity initiatives and undocumented migrant programs instead of fortifying disaster preparedness. The crisis has left many wondering if California’s leadership is prioritizing the right issues.

One of the most striking moments unfolded when a mother, whose daughter’s school was devastated, confronted Governor Newsom. She demanded answers about why fire hydrants had no water during the emergency. Newsom's vague promises of improvement only fueled the public’s dissatisfaction, further highlighting the state’s systemic issues.

Adding to the controversy, Mayor Bass faced backlash after leaving for Africa despite forecasts of record-breaking Santa Ana winds. Her absence, combined with critical missteps like false evacuation alerts that added chaos and stress, has eroded trust in the city’s leadership.

Critics also point to Newsom’s controversial decisions, such as cutting inmate firefighting programs and failing to upgrade emergency services, as key contributors to the state’s inability to effectively manage disasters. Public confidence has plummeted as Newsom shifted blame to local officials instead of taking accountability.

Commentators are now drawing comparisons to Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, who has been widely praised for his swift and effective disaster response. They warn that Newsom’s mismanagement could derail his national political ambitions, as Californians demand stronger leadership and better disaster preparedness moving forward.
