In December last, the Chinese State Council published a document with the goal to improve the nation's "artificially influenced weather system" by 2025. But the weather, which the Chinese call, the Heaven, seems to be increasingly unwilling to satisfy the wishes of the CCP.
Rainstorms coupled with hailstones and strong winds have ravaged many parts of China in the past few days, disrupting traffic and people's daily life in affected regions.
On Monday afternoon, the thunderstorm darkened the sky in a matter of seconds in Wuhan city, located in central China of Hubei province. Some citizen said, this looks like the end of the world.
Severe convection weather, hail, thunderstorms, and short-term heavy rains occurred in several cities in Jiangxi Province on Monday afternoon. At around 16:00, a sudden hailstorm hit parts of Xin-yu City, with the hailstones falling in diameters of four to five centimeters. A dozen minutes later, it cleared up. No casualties have been reported.
Over the past two days, many places in southwest China's Gway-zhou Province have also seen heavy rains and hailstorms. Disastrous convection weather, including thunderstorms, lightning storms, and strong winds, struck Bijie City in the northeastern part of the province on Sunday afternoon. Waterlogging occurred in some urban areas following rains. The local meteorological department predicted that heavy rain would continue for the next few days.
Lanxi City in east China's Zhe-jiang Province suffered thunderstorms and heavy winds on the night of May 10, with the maximum wind speed at 103-117 km per hour. Consequently, many trees along the roads got uprooted or broken off, blocking roads. The severe convective weather also damaged transformers and electrical wires and caused outages in some areas.
