How's it going everybody? I'm Nikki Delventhal and this is my dog Camper Delventhal.
We live in a 2006 Toyota Prius and we're here to take you along on the wild ride.
So fasten up your seat belts and let's have some fun.
Don't forget if you like what you see, like, subscribe, comment,
share with your friends and turn on notifications. Camper and I would be so thankful.
In last week's episode, Hotel Prius needs to take a forced break as we cover about a month
of recovery from an ACL sprain. We take you through the emotional process of doctors,
rehab and even necessary dietary changes needed for recovery.
You heard that right. We are no longer pescatarian. Welcome to the dark side.
We show you all the knee recovery friendly fun around Phoenix from hanging in parks,
running around dog parks, hanging at the pool and so much more.
After a month in one spot, we were feeling a bit antsy.
Plus the neighbors were getting a bit too loud a little too early.
Good morning. Well that is a beautiful wake-up call.
So we set off away from the city for some wilderness therapy.
Where do you want to go? Do you want to go back to California so we can hang out on the coast?
Maybe Death Valley? Why are you looking at me like that?
We're gonna have to try this another way so I don't hurt my knee.
We're gonna slide this time. It's a slide into the front seat. I don't know why I haven't been
doing this for the past two years. This is so much easier to just slide. This is gonna be so freaking
awkward. They're like someone was in there. So we grabbed some coffee from our families,
said our goodbyes and hit the road. We are getting a late start. You better get moving.
First stop, Hotel Prius is due for an oil change.
You don't like having an oil change do you? Let's see if these guys try to rip us off.
Little do they know I actually know what I'm talking about but I'm gonna act like I don't.
You think it's blending in? Well that was a nice change of pace. This time they didn't
try to upsell us on things we didn't need. Perhaps we have camper's barking and his
watchful eye to thank for that. Okay well this is taking a little longer than we expected.
Oh no. Oh no. Oh no. Oh my god. It was a guy that got blown off of his motorcycle.
His girlfriend was next to him.
Oh wow that was really hard to see. They already had people helping them but
I hope he's gonna be okay. Wow.
It's gonna take a little while to come back. I'm gonna turn this on for a minute.
You know I used to ride a motorcycle and one of the reasons I don't anymore
is it doesn't matter how good of a rider you are, people don't pay attention to you. I mean
they already don't pay attention to you if you're in a car but it's so dangerous. You guys,
beware. It's so scary. A few calls to our loved ones and a few hours later we made it into
California. The official welcome to California sign. When they say it takes three hours to
get somewhere it actually takes five or more. California can you please do something about
and maybe your taxes and your gas prices. Thanks. See you later. There's no time to stop. We need
to get there before the sun gets down. So I'm on my second banana of the day with peanut butter.
It's the only way it works is putting it in my head. Take this out.
Thanks for cleaning camp. And just like that we didn't lose a minute.
Made a quick stop for water and a cup to pee in. It was a long freaking day.
There's a lot of traffic. We were planning on getting here way earlier so um yeah we're just
gonna find a place to sleep. I think we'll drive for like another 20 minutes. And then I remembered
a spot about 15 minutes up the road I had visited a few years back and decided to see if we could
snag a spot at the park. Their campsites are first come first serve and it's a Friday so
I'm really hoping we just get it because it is getting dark.
All right let's see what we can find here.
Oh sweet there's a ton open. This is great great great great great. Maybe we can find
something near the canyons though. Oh yeah this is it. Wait till you guys see this in the morning.
Then it was time to get ready for bed. I'm gonna do my nightly wipe down.
How that works is take some water, take a washcloth, and I rinse.
Hang up the shower towel. Let's go get a fleece and set up the car.
And added to our usual routine of everything falling out of the car.
Okay there is no service here so I am going to go ahead and send a message out
to my family to let them know I am okay. That is super important. Camper ate then I ate
and while we were outside in true Nikki and Camper fashion we made friends with our neighbors,
met their dog, and hung around their campfire before retiring to the Prius for the evening.
I'm gonna go back now and go to sleep. I haven't slept this way in a while camp.
Okay I gotta level this out a little better. Good night everybody. Good morning Camper.
Oh it froze last night. Check this out. Oh god okay. I'm gonna let it breathe in here.
Half decaf because we're trying to you know that's it. We can have a good day now.
All right we're gonna clean up, get changed, and check this place out.
So beautiful. Camper's already got a head start.
Oh my gosh this is so cool. Wow this is so cool. Check this out.
I'd say that was a successful morning exploration. Let's go see more of the park
and we're gonna do it by bike. I'm already having the best day ever. Yeah. Camp you want to do
brunch. I did meal prep at my family's so I do have some food ready to go
which is amazing. Not gonna have to cook at all this week. Let's get in here.
Coconut? Why not? Lots of nuts. Yeah and some for now. And voila we have the bell salad.
After food I put out the yoga towel, kicked off my shoes, emptied my pockets. I think I figured
out where my missing fork went. Then Camper and I had a day of rest and recovery. Starting with
some stretches, strength training, and physical therapy to give my knee the best chance for a full
recovery from its brain. So exercising has always been super important to me but especially now with
a knee tear. I gotta stay on top of my physical therapy so this is just part of the everyday
routine. No crazy hikes but we're still having fun. I feel so good. Holding this for two minutes.
This burns. Okay oh oh did you see that? Hang on.
While I read Camper gathered sticks, did some work. Are you gonna help today?
I guess work's on me today while Camper naps. After work we took a walk and then it's dinner
time. Are we gonna have the same thing that we had for breakfast and lunch? Of course we are.
How would we have anything different? Second meal of the day exactly the same as this morning.
We are going on so many walks today. That's also because we have service
at the visitor center. And as the sun set we headed back to our Prius home
to lay our head for the evening. Thanks for watching. Before you go don't forget to subscribe,
