Well it's a competition which the Blues have won seven times in their history, on two occasions as part of two different treble winning seasons in 2019 and 2023. And though the Blues can't emulate those stunning achievements, the prospect of lifting the FA Cup at Wembley in May is still a tantalising one for this group of serial winners. De Bruyne whips it in near post and it's flicked on by Gundogan and it hits the top of the crossbar behind the net as it were, rather than the front of the crossbar, goes out for a goal kick. Short corner, De Bruyne to Grealish and then rolls it back to him and he's whipped it in for a spectacular save from Conor Hazard there. And it's clear but not very well and on the edge of the area is Foden and then Haaland smashes it over the bar, that was his moment, it wasn't an easy chance and he hit it first time with his left foot and it fizzed over the bar. Foden on his left foot, whips it in at pace, it's above O'Reilly, picked up by De Bruyne on this near side, the left hand side, back it goes to Grealish, bends in a ball looking for Haaland, great save and Bernardo Silva and it's gone wide. How's that not gone in? It's gone out for a corner, I can't believe it's not gone for a goal, Hazard must have performed miracles. City's 19th corner whipped in, O'Reilly's on the far, Nico O'Reilly, what were the odds on him scoring a brace today? I suspect massive but Nico O'Reilly finally gets that goal and surely now City have won this Cup tie. A ball to the far post and Nico O'Reilly who scored the equaliser right on half time, powers in a header at the far post and Gundogan plays it forward and Haaland gives chase and Haaland's through on goal and Haaland saved again by Hazard, breaks again for Haaland, Haaland now back and De Bruyne prods it over the line and City have a third and the FA Cup quarter-finals beckon. Well Haaland had a go himself, it was saved by the goalkeeper, it went back to Haaland and Haaland saw the run of De Bruyne, squared it into the box and De Bruyne taps it over the line and City are going through to the FA Cup quarter-finals.
