Today I'm going to be testing out viral TikTok food hacks to see if they actually work.
Healthy Coke. Apparently, if you mix balsamic vinegar and sparkling water together, it's supposed to taste like Coca-Cola.
I'm very sceptical about this one.
Okay, so I have a glass full of ice and balsamic vinegar.
Whoa, whoa, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey.
Ah, this looks awful. It smells quite nice though.
I actually love balsamic vinegar, but I hate sparkling water. I think it's the devil's water.
I mean, it looks like Coca-Cola.
Let's give it a stir.
I'm so nervous to try this. I feel like it's going to be disgusting.
The vinegar hit the back of my throat.
That does not taste like Coke at all.
I'm going to give it another sip, but like halfway up because I think all the vinegar was at the bottom.
No, no, it's still really bad.
I'm going to give it a two out of ten.
Jelly boba.
Apparently, you can easily make boba at home by using packaged jelly and milk.
I'm using strawberry jelly and strawberry milk to make a strawberry boba.
I'm actually really excited for this one. I really hope it works.
So I'm just going to pour my strawberry milk on top of my jelly.
This feels wrong.
And then I'm going to grab a thick straw and I'm basically just going to mash up the jelly at the bottom so it turns into little chunks.
Like boba.
Okay, I think that's enough. I'm going to try it.
I'm going to try and get a bit of jelly.
That's actually quite nice.
It actually tastes like boba.
I like that. I'm going to give it an eight out of ten.
7-Up and milk.
I've heard mixed reviews about this one, but I'm kind of excited to try it.
Apparently, this was actually an advert in the 1950s to try and encourage kids to drink more milk.
So let's see if it's nice.
So I'm going to go for a half and half ratio.
And then for the 7-Up.
I actually have 7-Up Zero because that's all they have at the supermarket.
So hopefully it still tastes the same.
It doesn't look right.
Oh no. Oh no.
No.
Anyway.
Right.
I'm going to try it from down here because the whole glass is now covered in Sprite and milk.
It's not awful.
It's quite refreshing.
I don't hate it.
I'm going to give it a 6.5 out of 10.
So apparently we've all been pouring juice out of our carton the wrong way up.
Apparently if you pour it this way, it goes glug, glug, glug.
Whereas if you pour it this way, it goes smoothly.
So I've got my breakfast juice here.
No other description.
This is just breakfast juice.
So we're going to try it.
Okay.
So I'm going to be doing it the wrong way first.
Glug, glug, glug, glug.
There you go.
Okay.
Now, if we turn it up the other way, it should pour straight.
Um, mine's still glugging.
But I would say that was a little bit smoother.
So I'd potentially say that was a success.
Does it make my life easier?
Probably not.
I'm going to give that a 5 out of 10.
I'm neutral about it.
Apparently this is the best way to get the juice out of a lemon.
If you stick a skewer into the base of the lemon, you should just be able to squeeze it and it should just come out.
So let's try it.
My lemon's been in the fridge and it's really hard.
I feel like this is dangerous.
I feel like I should give it like a little squeeze or something to try and loosen it.
I can't see this working.
There's no juice coming out.
Oh!
Okay, that didn't work.
That is not the easiest way to squeeze a lemon.
But apparently if you put your lemon in the microwave, you get more juice out.
So let's try that.
I microwaved my lemon for 30 seconds.
It's feeling very warm, so let's squeeze it again.
It's dropping.
This is rubbish, we're moving on.
0 out of 10.
Apparently you can test which of your blueberries are sweeter and which of them are more sour by pouring them into a bowl of water.
The sweeter, riper ones will sink and the tarter, less ripe ones will float.
I like this idea because I don't like those really sour blueberries, so let's give it a go.
Oh my gosh, mine are all floating.
There's about five at the bottom.
I feel like I need to do a taste test.
So apparently this one is more sour and this one is going to be more sweet.
This one does feel a lot firmer.
That's definitely very ripe and sweet.
And that's definitely more sour.
This works.
I'm going to give that a 10 out of 10.
Am I going to use it? I don't know, but I like it.
Apparently you can test if your eggs are fresh by placing them in a bowl of water.
The fresh ones will lay flat.
The ones that are still okay to eat will come up from their tip.
And the ones that you definitely shouldn't eat will float to the top.
So these are actually outdate by a couple of days, so I'm interested to see what they do.
I think he's a flat liar.
I think it's safe to say that my eggs are okay to eat.
If they weren't, they'd be like this on the top of the water.
I think that's actually a great hack and I'm going to give it a 10 out of 10
because this is actually one I used to test my eggs anyway, so I knew it was going to work.
Apparently you can use a bottle to separate an egg.
So apparently you squeeze it and then it should suck it up.
That didn't work.
Try again.
9 out of 10 because it did pop my yolk.
Apparently if you draw a circle with garlic on your pan, the egg won't go outside of the line.
So potentially you could draw any shape you like.
I don't know about this, but let's try it.
So let's draw a circle with our garlic.
Okay, I think that's enough. I can't see it, but let's give it a go.
I'm trying to do it really slowly. Give it a chance.
That definitely didn't work.
It went straight out of the line and I gave it a really good chance.
Okay, that one didn't work.
0 out of 10.
Seeing as the garlic didn't work, you can use a ring of onion to stop your egg from spreading.
Oh no, it's coming out the back.
Oh, and it's coming out the front.
Maybe my egg was too big.
I feel like this has worked, but not perfectly.
Therefore, I'm going to give it a 6.
My next one was to test whether an ice cube would stop my water from boiling over instantly,
but I've been stood here for 10 minutes and my water hasn't boiled over,
so I give up on this one.
It'll probably work, but 0 out of 10.
Last but not least, apparently there's an easier way to open a tin can.
So instead of pulling and then just pulling back,
you're supposed to twist the pulley round and then pull from there.
It worked.
Is it easier? I don't know.
I'll give it a 3 out of 10.
I'm probably not going to use it.
But anyway, that is the end of today's video.
I really hope you guys enjoyed it.
If you did, don't forget to like and subscribe.
Let me know if there's any other hacks that you think I should try
and if I should do more videos like this.
I'll see you next week.
Bye.
Today I'm going to be...
It doesn't look right at all.
No.
It's like fizzy and then you put like a ring of milk around it.
Anyway.
