Meet the Red Ants! Fun Facts for Kids

Red ants are small but super strong and can carry objects many times their own weight. They live in big colonies with thousands of ants working together. Red ants use their antennae to talk to each other by touching and smelling. The queen ant lays all the eggs, while worker ants find food and protect the nest. Red ants love to eat seeds, plants, and tiny insects. They have sharp jaws, mandibles, that help them bite and defend themselves. Some red ants, like fire ants, have a painful sting that makes them dangerous. They build their homes, called ant hills, by digging tunnels underground. Even though they are tiny, red ants are some of the most hard-working insects on earth.
