Albinoni's concertos, especially those with oboes, are hard to beat for consistently amiable if undemanding entertainment.

In Italy in particular, string instruments, and the violin in particular, occupied a key position in Baroque music. Like many of his contemporaries, Tomaso Albinoni composed a large number of pieces for string ensemble and many violin concertos.

With his concertos for one and two oboes, Albinoni more or less introduced a new genre. He did not copy Vivaldi's violin concerto form, but drew on his vast experience as an opera composer for both form and style.
