Tomaso Giovanni Albinoni (8 June 1671 - 17 January 1751) was an Italian composer of the Baroque era. His works include operas, concertos, sonatas for one to six instruments, sinfonias and solo cantatas. Although he was famous as an opera composer in his day, today he is best known for his instrumental music, especially his concertos.

Albinoni's most famous Opus 9 piece is the D Minor Oboe Concerto (Opus 9, number 2). It is famous for its slow movement. This concerto is probably the second best known of Albinoni's works after the Adagio in G minor (which was once thought to be a reconstruction based on a fragment by Albinoni).

The concertos were dedicated to Maximilian II Emanuel, Elector of Bavaria, and were first published by Michel-Charles Le Cène in Amsterdam. It is possible, but not certain, that they were written during a visit to the Elector's court in 1722, when Albinoni was performing his theatrical compositions. They are perhaps his best known works.
