World War 2: USMC Rain Ponchos | Collector's & His

ASP PRESENTS:
The US Marine Rain Ponchos. The rain poncho was issued to all Marines. In the prewar and early years of the war, ponchos were khaki colored. Later, the rain ponchos became reversible with camouflage on both sides. These reversible camouflaged rain ponchos were manufactured in large numbers. In 1945, six brass grommets were installed along the edge so it could be utilized as a make shift shelter for Marines in the field.

Correction: The OD rain ponchos were utilized in 1941 and then was phased out in 1943.
