"#GJWculture #Antiques #Mysteriousdiscoveries #Discovery #Artifacts Two finds from the British Iron Age believed to have been votive offerings. The Winchester Hoard discovered by a metal detectorist comprised four gold brooches, two gold bracelets, and two gold torcs of a unique flexible design. The Hallaton Hoard, excavated by a team from Leicester University at a site identified by a local archaeology group, consisted of 13 separate coin deposits and evidence of feasting indicating an open-air shrine. Coins included those of the local Corieltauvi tribe and coins of Cunobelin (the inspiration for Shakespeare’s Cymbeline) minted at Colchester.
