Schubert Impromptu Op 90 No 2 - recital performance by Yaya Wang
This impromptu got its nickname streams and storms from its style, in the beginning you could hear a jolly right hand continuously flow through the notes like a stream. Then as you get to the middle part, you could hear a "storm" coming as the warmth of the minor keys gets louder and richer. Then it goes back to happy but then the B minor invades and now a full thunderstorm rages ahead.
Although I did not have a lot of time to prepare, I felt like this was a worth-while try and this's one of my favorite pieces. Just like Beethoven I could really tell Schubert endured so much pain just to embed all this emotion into something that warms the heart right from the start. I learned so much from this, as I began to feel more expressive now when I play upcoming pieces. My heart was jolting with fire as I play this piece feeling everything Schubert wanted.
