Atherosclerosis is a disease in large elastic arteries (Aorta, Carotid arteries), and medium sized muscular arteries (Coronary arteries).
It is characterized by deposition of cholesterol material within the tunica intima of arteries.
Atherosclerosis is the leading cause for Ischemic Heart Disease(IHD) and Stroke.
