Lots of boxes on PlaySchool today.
Hello.
Boxes, boxes everywhere.
All shapes and sizes.
Um...
This one looks like the biggest box.
Ah.
And...
Ah, this one looks like the smallest.
Nothing inside.
Long skinny box.
And this fat round box.
Could be a head.
A head for a boxy monster.
Let's use these boxes to make a boxy monster.
How about the monster's body first?
Um...
This big one.
That'll be good for that.
Now...
How about a smaller box?
Okay.
Um...
Stack the boxes up.
And this long skinny one over here.
And round monster head box on top.
Yeah.
The box monster can't see yet.
Doesn't have any eyes.
How about a big monster eye?
Let's use something from the useful box.
There's always something useful in the useful box.
Right.
Yes.
Right.
Here we go.
Ah.
Yoga container.
Oh, and some sticky tape.
Stick it on.
Yoga container in place.
And just stick it on like this.
There we go.
There.
How does that look?
Huh.
Looks more like a nose.
Oh, not for long.
Draw an eyeball.
A big red monster eyeball.
And a big curvy eyebrow.
Now for some monster hair.
Oh, this green.
Whoa.
Hair.
Oh, not for me.
No.
How about for the monster?
Yes.
And this will be a monster's horn.
On top of the monster's head.
Pretty scary box monster.
Frightened Karen with his jiggles.
I'm not afraid of you, you jiggly monster.
Are you ready for a jiggle?
I'm not afraid of the jiggly monster.
I'm not afraid at all.
I'm not afraid of the jiggly monster.
I'm not afraid at all.
And it goes jiggle, jiggle, jiggle.
Jiggle, jiggle, jiggle.
Jiggle, jiggle, jiggle, jiggle, jiggle, jiggle.
Jiggle, jiggle, jiggle, jiggle, jiggle.
A jiggly box monster.
What other kinds of monsters are there?
How about jumping monster?
Ready for a jump?
I'm not afraid of the jumping monster.
I'm not afraid at all.
I'm not afraid of the jumping monster.
I'm not afraid at all.
And it goes jumpety, jumpety, jump.
Jumpety, jumpety, jump.
And one more type of monster.
How about a kissing monster?
It kisses this time, like this.
I'm not afraid of the kissing monster.
I'm not afraid at all.
I'm not afraid of the kissing monster.
I'm not afraid at all.
And it goes muah, muah, muah.
Muah, muah, muah.
A kissing box monster.
Box is in the story today, too.
So let's have a look at the clock.
What's the time on the play school clock?
Well, the long hand is pointing straight up,
so it's something o'clock.
And the short hand is pointing to the two,
so it's two o'clock.
Now to turn the winder.
Wind, wind, wind.
Here comes the trolley.
What will we find?
What's inside the trolley today?
A box.
A surprise box with a red ribbon tied around it.
Let's have a look inside.
And tie the ribbon.
And inside.
One.
Two.
Lions.
Grr, grr.
See if you can spot some lions in the story today.
And here's the book.
Oh, you two can sit here.
Grr.
Well, the story today is called Alex and Roy.
There's Alex.
And there's Roy.
Wonder what happens.
Bring, bring, went the doorbell.
There's someone at the door, see.
Oh good, said Alex's mother.
That's Roy come to play.
It's not good, said Alex.
I don't want to play with Roy.
And he stomped off into his bedroom.
Alex looks cross, doesn't he?
Alex's mother opened the door.
It was Roy with his big sister Renee.
Sorry, I can't stop, said Renee.
I don't want to be late for the hairdressers.
Come in, Roy, said Alex's mother.
Alex will be here in a minute.
She said it very loudly, hoping Alex would hear.
But Alex was hiding.
And so were his cats.
Can you see where Alex is?
Where is Alex? asked Roy.
I think he's in his room, said Alex's mother.
Would you like to help me while you're waiting?
Oh yes, said Roy.
I'm good at helping.
On the kitchen floor there were two boxes full of shopping.
Could you put the shopping away, please? asked Alex's mother.
Yes, said Roy.
I'm good at putting things away.
Look, the cat is climbing inside the shopping box.
Alex's mother noticed an eye at the kitchen door.
But she said nothing.
Do you know who it is?
When Roy had finished, he pushed the empty boxes together and sat himself inside one.
Brum, brum, brum, he said.
Look at my car.
It's got a back and a front.
All you need now is a passenger, said Alex's mother.
Suddenly, Alex strolled into the kitchen.
Can I play too? he asked Roy.
I'm the driver, said Roy.
There's room for you in the back.
Where do you want to go?
Alex thought a little.
To the station, please.
I've a train to catch.
They drove as fast as they could.
But they had to stop because they pretended some men were mending the road.
Uh-oh, road works in the kitchen.
Do you ever go for a drive in a pretend car?
They drove all the way to Africa.
But they only saw two lions.
Two cat lions.
Those were the lions, Alex's cats.
When they couldn't think of anywhere else to go, they painted their car red,
with a yellow stripe along one side.
Just as they finished, the doorbell rang.
That'll be Renee, said Alex's mother.
Time for Roy to go home.
Alex's mother let Renee in.
She had had her hair cut very short.
Roy was sad to go home.
Alex said he could have one of the boxes.
Roy left wearing it on his head, looking out of a hole in the side.
Bye-bye.
Alex was sad too.
Then he noticed that he could now be the driver.
But he hadn't driven very far before his mother waved for him to stop.
Lunchtime, she said.
At last, sighed Alex.
Yum, sausages, chips and peas for lunch.
And that's the end of the story.
Do you get hungry sometimes?
Does your tummy rumble?
Feel like some food? Some tucker?
Rub your tummy.
I'd love a bit of tucker in my rumbly tummy.
Rumbly, grumbly, rumbly tummy.
I'd love a bit of tucker in my rumbly tummy.
Rumbly, grumbly tum.
Oh, better eat some dinner.
I'm eating lots of dinner for my rumbly tummy.
Rumbly, tumbly, rumbly tummy.
I'm eating lots of dinner for my rumbly tummy.
Rumbly, grumbly tum.
Oh, feeling pretty full now.
I've eaten all my dinner and I've filled my tummy.
Rumbly, grumbly, rumbly tummy.
I've eaten all my dinner and I've filled my tummy.
Rumbly, grumbly tum.
When you're hungry sometimes and you've got a rumbly tummy,
you might need a lot of tucker or you might just need a snack.
Some snacks here.
Here we are.
Some raisins and dried apricots.
Some sticks of carrot and celery.
And some cheese.
Lots of snacks to eat.
Now, one more little snack box to fill.
How about some green eggs?
This egg's not green yet, but it soon will be.
Hard-boiled yellow yolks.
And we scoop out the yolk,
the yellow part of the egg,
into a mixing bowl.
Scoop it out.
One, two.
Then we mix the yolk up with a fork like this.
There.
Now for the green part.
How do you make eggs green?
Well, here's one way.
You get some basil.
Some parsley.
Some pine nuts.
And some olive oil.
You put it all into a food processor.
And then you zoom them up to make green pesto sauce.
Ready?
Go.
It's a bit noisy, isn't it?
Ready?
One more go.
There.
Mmm.
Green pesto sauce.
Now, we put that in with the egg yolk.
And we mix it all up with the egg yolk like this.
Gooey, lumpy, bumpy.
Turning the egg yolk green.
There we are.
Now, take a spoonful of this mixture,
and we put it into the egg white.
Scoop the egg white like that.
One.
And another scoop for the other one.
And into the little snack box.
Green eggs in a snack box.
Voila.
Mmm.
Another box.
The calendar box.
I wonder who's hiding inside.
Someone is hiding down in the box until I open the lid.
It's Little Ted.
Hello, Little Ted.
With the name of today.
What day is it today?
It's Monday.
Today is Monday.
Sit here, Little Ted.
Would you like to be a jack-in-a-box this time?
Come on.
Crouch down in your box.
Jack is hiding down in the box until someone opens the lid.
And jump up, jump, jump, jump, jump, jump, jump, jump.
And back down in your box.
Ready?
Jack is hiding down in the box until someone opens the lid.
And jump up, jump, jump, jump, jump, jump.
Are you up, Jack-in-a-box?
One more time.
Back down in your box.
Jack is hiding down in the box until someone opens the lid.
And jump right out of your box.
A rowing boat box for Morris.
With one, two oars to row with.
Off you row, Morris.
I have a little rowboat, a rowboat, a rowboat.
I have a little rowboat.
I row it down the stream.
Now you row too, if you like.
I have a little rowboat, a rowboat, a rowboat.
I have a little rowboat.
I row it down the stream.
Oh.
Whoops.
Morris has lost an oar.
Oh no, what will we do?
I know.
A handkerchief for a sail.
Could make a sailboat.
Use an oar as a mast.
We'll tie this handkerchief around the top.
There we go.
A sailboat with its sail flapping in the breeze.
Off you sail, Morris.
I have a little sailboat, a sailboat, a sailboat.
I have a little sailboat.
I sail it in the breeze.
Now you come for a sail too.
I have a little sailboat, a sailboat, a sailboat.
I have a little sailboat.
I sail it in the breeze.
Oh, no more wind.
Oh well, it's the end of your boat trip, Morris.
Lots more boats.
Through the windows.
Maybe it'll be your favourite window today.
Is it the square window?
Or the diamond window?
Maybe the round window?
Ah, here we go.
We're looking through the arched window today.
Look at all those boats tied up in a marina.
Lots of boats.
There are more boats stored up high in the shed.
Need a forklift to get this one down.
Watch the hand signals.
Carefully does it.
And out it comes.
Big boat on a forklift.
It's a motorboat.
Okay, forklift driver.
Turn the boat around and take it to the water.
This family is waiting for the boat.
There they go.
All aboard.
One.
Two.
And three.
Untie the rope.
And push off.
Vroom, vroom, vroom.
Have a lovely day.
Got a motorboat here too.
Now, for the stream.
Lots of blue water in this stream.
Ooh, blue water.
There we go.
And some streamers for a moving, rippling stream.
There.
Get all the streamers on.
And boxes for a boxy, rocky bank.
One there.
One here.
One there.
Last one.
There.
Now for my motorboat.
And splash.
There we go.
Something else before I sail away.
A life jacket.
On with the life jacket.
Right, ready to go.
Wait for me, Karen.
I brought some things for the journey.
Some snacks in case we get hungry.
Good idea, Matt.
All aboard.
Here we go.
Start her up.
Vroom, vroom.
A motorboat.
Vroom, vroom.
Is a thing we like.
Vroom, vroom.
How good it feels.
Vroom, vroom.
To motor down the stream.
Vroom, vroom.
First to the side we make our boat sway.
And then we drive our boat the other way.
Vroom, vroom.
We can ride all day.
We love our motorboat.
Nearly there at the picnic spot.
A motorboat.
Vroom, vroom.
Is a thing we like.
Vroom, vroom.
How good it feels.
Vroom, vroom.
To motor down the stream.
Vroom, vroom.
First to the side we make our boat sway.
And then we drive our boat the other way.
Vroom, vroom.
We can ride all day.
We love our motorboat.
Vroom, vroom.
We're here at the picnic spot.
Who's that?
Looks like the boxy monster.
It is the boxy monster.
Come to share our picnic.
How about a snack?
Great idea, man.
Some raisins and apricots.
Or celery and carrots.
Some cheese or some green pesto eggs.
Cheese, please.
Thank you.
And the green pesto eggs for me.
It's time for us to go now.
Maybe you can make a box boat and have an adventure.
Or have a snack picnic inside or outside.
Goodbye.
Bye.
