Good morning world of YouTube. It is 3.52 in the morning and we are about to embark on a
essential 15 hour car journey with three kids.
We're going to Helen and John's house.
Bridges in America eh. Look at these chips. He's like bumped his head.
It's 10 hours on Google Maps but we have to stop a lot because our baby is 3 months old
and Sophie's probably going to ask to go to the potty a lot. Are you excited?
Very excited. I had my cold shower. I'm ready to drive for 15 hours.
Oh I'm driving some of it.
No golf ball. He already has a ball.
Charlie can bring a golf ball. If it makes him happy in the car Charlie can have 20 golf balls.
No no we're not watching Blue right now.
I thought we'd be lifting the babies gently and angelically into the car while they're asleep and everyone would go ahhh.
But actually they're all wide awake.
Sophie got into our bed and kept going, is it the middle of the night yet?
And then when I said we were getting up she said, oh my gosh I can't stop smiling.
Baby. Baby kiss. Baby kiss on her head.
Right it's 4.03 we need to get onto the road.
If like you said 4 o'clock the baby will go eat fast.
Yeah baby it's 4 o'clock.
I'm not going to watch Beauty and the Beast.
We're going to go see Helen yeah. And is it Helen's happy?
Yeah.
Helen's happy birthday?
What does Helen need from the freezer?
One loaf of bread, two packs of sausages from the fridge and the potato waffles.
No the waffles aren't for you sweetheart sorry that was confusing.
Okay it is 4.20.
Oh I forgot my watch.
It's okay.
It is 4.21 we are about to hit the road. Are you excited?
Yeah!
Missy is giving what the actual fudge is going on.
But yeah let's hit the road Jack.
664 miles arrival time 3pm.
Final last words 3pm.
I reckon we'll get there at 6.
This is my pillow.
It's going to help me get to sleep because I've got to drive next.
Kyle just said this is going to be my longest car journey ever.
Before I met Kyle the longest I'd ever been in a car was three hours.
And even that was emotionally stressful for me.
And he didn't believe me.
But I was like English people we just don't drive.
It's not in our DNA.
Kyle.
Oh dear.
What?
You've only been going an hour.
Yeah we've been going almost two hours.
Oh.
Well Kyle we made time.
Yeah.
Yeah I've been cooking.
Not really.
That's not right.
That is not factoring in the traffic.
And I've shaved about ten minutes off.
No we're not almost there.
I need some fresh air.
I'm a little tired.
I've been asleep.
Yeah.
Sophie show me what you're eating.
Hold him up.
Sophie's having candy for breakfast.
6am.
Guys I actually can't explain to you how amazing this pillow is.
Today's her birthday.
I think her birthday's actually tomorrow.
Oh my god I'm going to sleep like this.
Oh my god this is so good.
I think Missy's hungry.
Okay you can give Missy one snack okay.
In case you missed it this is how I pack the car.
I did load it on shorts.
Let's passenger princess my car for a family of five and a dog for a potential 15 hour drive.
It doesn't fit.
Bye.
Sophie has requested dog snacks to go in hers so that she can give the dog snacks as we drive.
Oh hello sir.
Hello baby.
Just stretching her back out a bit.
I don't want a hunchback of Notre Dame.
Daddy was falling asleep.
Mummy's up.
Oh yeah.
I can do this.
We're on Merritt Parkway.
Pussy.
Is this how it's supposed to be?
Yeah you stick your head under it.
Oh look at me I'm Caroline.
Kyle stop.
Kyle you're going to kill us.
Kyle, Kyle.
Well you nearly did that's why we swapped.
No I didn't.
No I did not.
It was my decision.
Oh yeah.
You're doing great Soph.
Everyone give me a woohoo.
Woohoo.
Yeah.
Woohoo.
Daddy.
Uh oh, uh oh, uh oh.
Try everything.
All the tablets are broken.
I opt checked them last night everything was fine.
So I'm providing the entertainment.
Heads.
Shoulders.
Knees and toes.
Woo.
Heads.
Shoulders.
Okay.
Sophie has the older tablet.
Charlie has a newer one.
Sophie's doesn't seem to be doing well.
Though we have the Amazon ones which are amazing.
It was like $70 two years ago.
I think she's due an upgrade to be honest.
Charlie's watching Good Dinosaur.
She's normally asleep at this time of day.
She's normally asleep like 21 hours a day.
We are on the Merritt Parkway and we've taken a break.
Everyone's doing great.
Charlie's got his balls.
Woohoo.
Balls.
Oh Meesy.
Look lots of grass for you to go wee wee.
How do you think it's going?
It's going well.
I'm really grateful that this Dunkin Donuts has a very subtle Dunkin Donuts sign because
the kids aren't going crazy.
Yeah that's so true.
The kids have no idea there's Dunkin Donuts here.
We are in Connecticut.
The Merritt Parkway.
Connecticut.
Connecticut always reminds me.
Greenwich, Connecticut always reminds me of.
They were like these twins.
They were on 90 Day Fiance.
Do you remember what their names were on 90 Day Fiance?
The twins.
Oh.
It's going to annoy me that.
Darcy.
Darcy Kyle.
He's not even ******* listening to me.
This is important.
Oh Meesy.
Oh the smells.
These are Connecticut smells.
This is where we're at right now.
So 415 miles to go.
This thing was actually the best.
Oh shoot.
Purchase.
It like warms up the water.
This is the best truck ever.
Wow.
Good to know.
Where's Charlie?
Oh there he is.
Okay this was going to be a High New York by New York but now there's a huge truck.
Giant truck.
But just by New York.
The skyline was like right there.
Awkward.
Fucking truck.
How do you feel about this bridge?
Bridge is in America eh?
Well fun.
Big bridge.
Skyline.
I can't see shit.
Skyline.
There's so many.
Oh no it's just nothing.
Can you not see it?
No.
Not even a little bit.
What?
Well we're now in New York.
Oh wait.
Oh.
No.
Alright everyone we got four hours and forty minutes left of our ten hour drive.
Caroline's been a trooper for the last three-ish hours during the drive.
I actually hate sitting in the passenger seat so I keep asking to switch but as you can
see everybody's asleep.
All three kids are asleep.
So we cannot stop.
Yeah so.
We have to keep going.
Gonna keep pushing.
You know this is our battlefield right now.
America is very big.
When you look at how far we're actually moving.
Like when you look at the map of America.
We're actually not moving that far.
Well like on the scale of America.
Yeah.
Saw a Cybertruck.
That was very exciting.
Kyle has never been so excited in his whole life.
I was fan girling over a Cybertruck.
I'm more excited than the birth of our children.
The sight of that Cybertruck.
At least two of them.
Yeah.
Just passed a rest stop that had a Popeyes and a Shake Shack.
So it was really tough to pass that one up.
But the kids are asleep.
We had to.
Cheers to Alani number two.
Is there another one?
Is there another one over there?
No I just took the one from the door.
You put the whole box of Alanis in the back.
Here we are guys.
Another bridge.
Look at this bridge.
I was like Kyle get a video of this bridge.
That's insane.
Just hitting Delaware.
Look at all this industrial.
Show that Kyle.
Show it.
We'll be in Delaware for just a quick second.
You can't see ******* shit with this thing.
We're going over like the ocean.
A few big bouts.
Those are big bouts.
Sick truck.
We're still going up this bridge.
Yeah we're still going up.
This is insane.
Delaware River.
Yeah.
Welcome to Delaware.
Is Delaware a state?
Yeah.
Oh I never knew that.
I'll add that to a list of my states that I know.
Fun fact.
Many huge companies are actually incorporated in Delaware.
So tax friendly on corporate.
Do you know all 50 states?
Yeah.
I can't do the alphabet song.
Do you just say them?
And then like think oh I've said that one.
Have you seen the Friends episode?
I mean I'd probably go east to west.
Have you seen the Friends episode when they do the states?
I've seen all the Friends episodes because you made me watch them.
You watched Friends late.
I made you watch Friends.
No and Ross forgets a state and he gets really frustrated and he can't have any turkey.
Everything comes back to Friends.
Everything.
Look at this guys.
This is an American toll.
We've got a little thing on the top of our car here.
And you zoom through.
Although this person's paying.
Or you can pay by cash.
Because you got in a cash or easy pass lane instead of just an easy pass lane.
Do I have to wave at this man?
So now we'll sit.
Do I wave to the man as I go through?
No.
You just drive.
He doesn't need a wave.
I mean you can.
But you Brits don't even wave to your neighbours.
He didn't look very happy.
He was a bit grumpy then.
And then usually after toll booths there's always a big split of roads.
There's so many lanes.
We're in Maryland.
Maryland.
Everyone's just woken up.
That's where we're at.
I was playing the elevator here.
Sophie I gotta go to my office okay.
I'm getting in the elevator.
Daddy being silly.
Oh dear.
Down to the potty.
Keep going.
Dadda where are you?
There he is.
Charlie just bumped his head into the wall.
He just walked straight into the wall.
He's got a cut.
He's like bumped his head.
And he's got a cut.
I can hear Charlie crying.
Carl's gone to get the food.
They were getting Wendy's.
That hat was a commitment wasn't it?
Look at these chips.
They look so good.
What have you got Soph?
Little mini hot dogs.
The kids having that.
Mummy and Daddy having Wendy's.
Kyle is hand biting the hot dogs.
There's no knives.
And hot dogs are a choking hazard.
Gotta do what you gotta do.
I've got Wendy's chicken nuggets which I think are so much better than McDonald's.
Wow this is like a whole dog park area for people with their doggies.
And there's Missy.
Okay Kyle is gonna drive now.
He hasn't driven much to be honest.
He made me do the night feed so that he could do a good what?
Six hours?
And then you did an hour and a half and said I'm too tired can you drive?
Pathetic.
Leaving at 4am.
Anyway.
Okay it is 1 o'clock.
24 minutes delay.
4 hours and 14 minutes left to go.
I know a song that'll get on your nerves.
Get on your nerves.
I know a song that'll get on your nerves.
And this is how it goes.
Yeah you just repeat it over and over again.
I spy with my little eye something orange.
That truck.
Yeah that truck.
Something green.
Can Charlie see something green?
Grass.
Yeah Sophie you're getting all of them right.
It's not that I've forgotten something there's been something travelling with us.
Something travelling with us?
Oh my goodness Kyle you're never gonna believe it.
What is travelling with us?
It's a dryer sheet.
Charlie did it.
Something brown.
No something pink.
My crocs.
Your crocs you got it.
Yellow and brown.
Right you've got to be able to see it.
My ball.
Your ball.
Everyone's just yelling things.
The baby's car seat.
Yeah.
Hello DC.
We have 6.
Hello.
My prediction of us getting there at 6.
My prediction of us getting there at 6 o'clock was correct because it's now saying 6.24.
Yeah.
No? Mummy?
We used to actually live in this area so it's quite nice being here.
I just said to Carl that Virginia always felt more like home than where we live now.
So it's nice to be back.
It was fun and it was simpler.
Like we went through Covid down here and stuff and got close with our neighbours.
That was great.
We had some really wonderful people around us here.
Everyone's on their tablets now.
Charlie's watching Toy Story and Sophie's watching Inside Out.
And Olivia's watching The World.
That's our exit.
Fort Belvoir.
This is weird.
Our house is like just, our old house is just down there.
Oh my god guys.
One hour left.
On the road again.
Do the next line.
I can't wait to get on.
I don't know. I think that's it.
On the road again.
Charlie's on Bluey. What are you watching Soph?
I am playing this.
Oh wow. Oh you're playing a game.
That's amazing.
Good job.
Good job sweetheart.
This is not good.
We've got 43 minutes left.
The baby won't stop crying.
And Sophie's saying she's got an owie tummy.
We're going to have to stop.
It's just the girls complaining.
I know. We're going to have to stop.
Charlie's happy as a clam.
Charlie as if nothing was happening.
Oh god. Oh god. Oh god. Oh god.
This is so tense.
We've got 33 minutes.
She keeps crying and then I keep taking my seatbelt off giving it back to her and then she stops.
Oh my god.
Stopping with 32 minutes to go.
Oh my god. We're here.
OK. Are we ready?
Are you ready?
Watch out.
Everyone watch out.
You might recognise something in here.
It's the same.
Mummy's such a good friend.
Mummy gave Helen the extra rolls.
Yeah.
We made it.
So did I.
It's been an awful day.
That's an elephant.
That's Nelly.
13 hours and 40 minutes.
Nothing.
Cheers.
