Ep. 3 Cycle Touring Across New Zealand | 28 days on the incredible Tour Aotearoa
Follow along on this 7 part series as we set off on an unforgettable 4-week cycling adventure from Auckland to Queenstown, riding the legendary Tour Aotearoa route. We totaled 1,946km (1,209 miles) of riding from start to finish. By far our longest bike tour yet…well, until the next one!
Aotearoa, meaning "Long White Cloud" in the Māori language, is a common name for New Zealand.
Episode 3 is all about finding our rhythm and soaking in the adventure! 🚴♂️🌞 We found a good groove and were waking up every day excited to see what was next. Along the way, we met a new friend, Jonathan, stayed with the coolest host through the Warm Showers app, and continued to get lucky with good weather.
We took the ferry from Wellington to Picton and Eric’s allergies tried to slow us down. We took the afternoon off to rest and regroup. We couldn't believe we were finished with the North Island so quickly, but there was so much more to come on the South Island. The journey just kept getting better.
