Welcome to how to grow spring onions from seed. This video has been sponsored by thegiftoffood.com
The first step is to fill a seed tray with compost. Step two, press the compost down with the palm of
your hand to make it firm. Then water the compost to make it moist. If you water it after the seeds
have been applied then there's a danger that it'll be washed away. Step three, sprinkle the seeds on
top of the compost. You could also apply the seeds directly to the soil but over the years I've found
this method to be most productive. Step four, cover the seeds with compost and press down firmly with
the palm of your hand. Step five, keep well watered and keep in a warm place. After about a week
the onion seeds will start to germinate. Step six, once the onions are about two inches tall
it is time to plant them out. Plant them in soil about two fingers widths apart.
Then water well. Step seven, as the onions grow keep them well watered and keep them weed free.
Step eight, pick the onions as required. Take the largest ones first. This will allow room for the
smaller ones to grow into. Thank you for watching the video. I hope you found it informative.
