The soldiers are being killed by the hundreds of thousands.
Trump says he has a plan to end the war and added that he has a good relationship with Putin.
Trump has said he wants to meet with Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky this week.
Ukrainian officials this morning said Russia launched a drone attack on Kyiv.
Ukraine says the attack sparked a fire in the capital city.
Meanwhile, President Trump's national security advisor is working on ending the war.
He's set to meet European officials this week, aiming to advance truce efforts.
Russia's economy is not doing well.
National security advisor Mike Waltz on Sunday talked about ending the Russia-Ukraine war.
He's scheduled to be in France on Monday, then later in the week at the Munich Security
Conference with EU leaders, where he aims to find a diplomatic way to end the fighting in Ukraine.
Waltz says President Trump is ready to counter Russia with tariffs,
but that he prefers the easier way out. This also includes talking to countries like China and India.
We need to get all sides of the table and end this war. And it has come up in conversations
with President Xi, with Prime Minister Modi, with leaders across the Middle East. Everybody
is ready to help President Trump end this war. Let's get all sides of the table and negotiate.
Waltz also doubled down on an idea previously floated by Trump.
The president says Ukraine should guarantee the nation will pay back the aid sent by the U.S.
Trump suggested using Ukraine's rare earth minerals as a financial guarantee.
We need to recoup those costs. And that is going to be a partnership with the Ukrainians
in terms of their rare earths, their natural resources,
and their oil and gas, and also buying ours.
Trump campaigned on the idea of sending less aid to Ukraine than the previous administration did.
So far, no impacts have been reported on the battlefield.
