Isaac Manuel Francisco Albéniz y Pascual (* 29 May 1860 in Camprodon, Girona; † 18 May 1909 in Cambo-les-Bains, Département Pyrénées-Atlantiques, France) was a Spanish composer and pianist.

When the Catalan Albéniz was 30 years old and wrote the six album sheets of 'España', he was living in the metropolis of London and causing a sensation with his celebrated piano evenings. He often performed his own compositions at these concerts, which were characterised by the exotic flair of his homeland. It was also in London that Albéniz premiered the piano cycle España, which takes the listener on a journey through the landscapes of Spain: exotic dance rhythms (Zortzico) and melodic folk tunes (Serenata) are led by the famous tango, which has become famous in numerous arrangements.
