Buried Treasure 2
#GJWculture #Antiques #Mysteriousdiscoveries #Discovery #Artifacts
Part Two begins with a consideration of responsible metal detecting and the damage caused by ‘nighthawks’ at the site of a Roman-British temple at Wanborough in Surrey. It continues with a look at the various ways archaeological finds emerge, from the Thornbury Coin Hoard discovered digging a pond in a back garden, to the legend of the Swaffham Pedlar. Consideration is given to the different specialists involved in researching finds: curators and conservators, scientists, museum staff, exhibition designers, education officers etc.; and concludes with recent discoveries at Tintagel and Dinas Powys that are rewriting the history of post-Roman Britain.
