Plusquamperfekt | Nachdem | Präteritum und Perfekt | B1 German Course | Lesson 14
Plusquamperfekt with the use conjunction "Nachdem" is the topic of lesson 14 of free B1 German language course. The Plusquamperfekt (past perfect) in German language is used to describe an action that took place before another action in the past.
The Plusquamperfekt (nachdem) is made of two parts:
The simple past (Präteritum) form of the auxiliary verb: either haben (to have) or sein (to be).
The past participle (Partizip II) of the main verb.
The Plusquamperfekt gives a clearer sense of sequence between two past events.
Nachdem conjunction is used in this lesson to explain the concept of Plusquamperfekt. In all the examples Hauptsatz is used first and Nebensatz comes afterwards. In this case hauptsatz explains an event that has happened in the past after the event (that has also happened in the past) that is explained in the nebensatz. Nebensatz starts with the conjunction nachdem.
