In this series, remember to read the comments for EXCELLENT tips, and thumbs-up the ones that are great so they're visible at the top! Part of a 10 video series on how to get extraordinary deals when buying a used dual sport adventure motorcycle, or any "toy" for that matter! These are my own tried-and-true techniques, but I DON'T claim to know it all. If you have an awesome technique that has worked for you, PLEASE share it in the comments so these videos can be a great resource for people who want to find a great deal on a used motorcycle. That is our goal, after all, to get more people on two wheels!
What's up, YouTubers?
If you're interested in adventure motorcycling on a budget, you're in the right place.
It's decam time!
That means dirt-cheap adventure motorcycling, by the way.
Okay, so as I pass this minivan that threatens my masculinity,
I do want to talk about dirt-cheap adventure motorcycling.
And there is no other expense in adventure motorcycling that is going to be as much as the adventure motorcycle.
So today, I'm going to give you some sweet tips on how to get good deals on motorcycles.
Now, this could actually be any motorcycle.
And you're going to have to pardon my ADHD because I'm kind of exploring today.
I've never been on these roads, and I'm really quite excited.
I'm also not going to be going fast, as per kind of usual,
just because I want to focus more on telling you how to get good deals instead of riding like a mad scientist.
What's up, YouTubers?
It's Mad Scientist Everride, coming to you from a different and future timeline from when this video was shot.
No, really, I'm not that evil, just slightly.
But anyway, I'm going to be here to tell you the things that I might have missed while I was riding on the motorcycle,
and my ADHD was out of control.
So just be prepared to hear me butt in once in a while and kind of interject while I ride around.
So yay!
I need to point out that these D-cams are not for people with tons of money, right?
If you have tons of money, why are you searching for dirt-cheap stuff on YouTube?
All right, the place that you're going to find your motorcycle deals is obviously the Internet.
Now, I used to teach economics.
I can tell you that right now, the bigger the marketplace, the lower prices you're going to find,
and the more the chances are you're going to find a good deal, a deal that's a seller that's actually right for you.
All right, so here's the gist of that whole thing.
You're going to need to make your market as big as possible.
That means searching through classified ads in the newspaper.
That means searching for different sites online.
In Utah, there's a site called KSL, and that's where almost all the motorcycles are sold.
However, Craigslist is big other places.
There are listings and things like that, and you need to know the sites that work for your locale.
You can't just expect, oh, I'm just going to look on Craigslist, and that's going to be the best deals.
No, because sometimes it's a different classified seller.
Maybe even Cycle Trader is going to be the best for your area.
So make sure that you're expanding the market to as big as possible so that you're, you know,
that's like having multiple hooks in the water when you're fishing.
You're going to catch a better fish that way.
Now, you might be wondering right now, should I include, like, newspaper classifieds in my search?
The answer is yes, because there are people who are wanting to sell motorcycles in newspaper classifieds
and on alternative websites and things like that.
Now, if there really is one of those fabled old ladies who's going to sell you a DRZ 400 for $500 out there,
she's probably not going to use Craigslist to sell the motorcycle.
She's probably going to list it in the classified section of the newspaper under Suzuki Dirt Bike for $500.
And then you can get a really awesome deal, but you've probably got to go check it out and, you know,
eat some cookies or something, which is really never a bad thing.
You might end up doing some yard work or something, too, just because you're feeling nice.
But, you guys, the point I'm trying to make is that the bigger the marketplace you have, the more options you have.
And, you know, you might find the big fish in the deep water.
It's just a principle of economics that the larger the marketplace is and the more sellers there are,
the better deal you can find.
Now, doing your research and searching for different bikes is going to benefit you in a couple of different ways
because not only are you going to find the best initial deals,
but you're also going to have a bargaining chip when you find the bike that you really like
and you find a similar bike that's, you know, $200, $300 less than that.
That way you can say, hey, there's this other bike for $200 or $300 less.
I'm going to go check that out.
And that's a bargaining chip.
We'll talk all about bargaining in a later video.
But for now, just make sure that you're expanding your market to as big as you can possibly stand.
It's going to take a little extra time, but trust me, the savings are going to be worth it.
So, you guys, we'll see you in the next video.
Everide out.
