Joyce is patient, full of integrity and organized. Being an activity/enrichment coordinator for more than 200 residents of diverse backgrounds requires immense patience and excellent organizational skills to be able to provide a choice of six or seven events daily. She also has grown the Seniors Serving Seniors program enabling residents to become actively engaged and participate with volunteer programs within Hidden Lakes and the City of Salem. She has instituted active reading programs with elementary schools and has created a relationship with Habitat for Humanity. Joyce is a great listener, always upbeat and ready with a warm hug. She’s a skilled pool player who plays with residents, teaching them trick shots and other game tips.

Each year, the ALFA Hero Awards recognize individuals who are ideal representatives of the hundreds of thousands of people serving in senior living communities. The winners of the 2015 Hero Award program were recognized May 6th at the Hero Award Luncheon at the ALFA 2015 Conference & Expo.
