Disaster! China Rocket Falling into Populated Area Again But...while SpaceX Starship!
Anxiety and fear—these emotions have become all too familiar for the Chinese people as the relentless pace of their country’s aerospace development brings unforeseen consequences.
Yet, despite the challenges, progress marches on.
Meanwhile, SpaceX, with far fewer negative impacts, continues to face constant slowdowns, raising concerns about the United States’ leadership in space.
How do post-flight challenges impact both nations, and what solutions could help them navigate these obstacles?
Let’s dive in on today’s episode of Great SpaceX!

Perhaps the most recent Long March 3B mission provides a stark reminder of the challenges associated with China's aerospace industry. Shortly after its launch on January 27, one of the rocket's boosters reportedly fell near a residential area, creating a hazardous situation for those nearby. The reaction of a Chinese family, caught on video as they screamed in fear, vividly illustrates the dangers posed by such incidents.

This is not an isolated case but rather a recurring issue that has persisted for decades. The fundamental reason behind these risks lies in the placement of China's launch sites. Unlike most spacefaring nations that position their launch pads along coastlines or on islands to minimize risks to populated areas, China has three of its four major launch facilities—Xichang, Jiuquan, and Taiyuan—located deep inland. Only the Wenchang Space Launch Site, completed in 2016 on Hainan Island, follows the global best practice of coastal launches. However, Wenchang remains underutilized compared to its inland counterparts.
