despite the fresh snow on the ground
there are signs of baseball season right
around the corner today dozens gathering
at Fenway Park in Boston to see the
equipment truck take off from Boston to
Fort Meyers 22 news reporter Clare
Overton has how the Red Sox are
preparing for spring
training Red Sox fans all over
celebrated truck day a symbol of the
Season around the corner and spring
training set to begin truck day has been
a tradition for the team and fan base
since 2003 a fond memory for some
thinking ahead to the start of another
season for others it jogs memories
they've made with the team throughout
the years 2004 was a great year when
they won a World Series that was a lot
of fun I really enjoyed that a 53ft
truck will carry an assortment of
equipment and supplies
1,480 M from Fenway Park in Boston to
their spring training facility JetBlue
Park in Fort Meers Florida on board will
be
20,400 baseballs 1,100 bats hundreds of
tops jerseys and pants along with a few
peculiar items 20 cases of bubblegum and
60 cases of sunflower seeds in the past
21 years the Red Sox have won four World
Series Championships but in the most
recent years there have been many bumps
in the road year after year truck day
excites fans for the new season you
can't be good all the time so there's
Growing Pains they they've obviously
built a great farm system with the Red
Sox and I think they're hoping to see
some of those kids come through and you
could you could see it last year a lot
of the young guys did very well pitchers
and catchers are set to report around
February 10th for the official start of
spring training working for you Claire
