안녕하세요, everyone. This is Jia.
Today, I want to share one of my favorite tofu dishes with you,
called 두부찌개. It's a tofu stew.
It's very flavorful and comforting.
While most stew dishes take a long time to cook,
this dish comes together very quickly.
Let's get started.
These are the ingredients that we'll be using today.
I want to make this 두부찌개 a complex, delicious taste.
And these are the sauces that we'll be using.
Soy sauce, salted shrimp, 새우젓.
This is anchovy fish sauce, 멸치액젓, salt.
And to flavor this dish, I'll be using the perilla oil, 들기름,
and 고춧가루, Korean chili flakes.
Cut the tofu into half an inch thick slices.
I found handmade tofu at the market and decided to use it for this dish.
Slice the onion.
Chop one stalk of green onion to add flavor and color to this dish.
Finely mince the garlic.
Arrange the sliced onion in the pot.
No oil is needed.
Place the tofu slices on top of the onion.
This helps prevent the tofu from sticking to the pot,
and it allows the sauce to fully soak through.
Pour enough water to cover two-thirds of the tofu.
Sprinkle in 고춧가루, Korean chili flakes,
fish sauce, soy sauce,
minced garlic, and the salted shrimp, 새우젓.
If salted shrimp is not available,
you can increase the amount of soy sauce or fish sauce instead.
Bring it to a boil.
Skim off any foam to make clear broth.
Add the perilla oil or substitute with sesame oil.
Add sliced green onion and a sprinkle of ground pepper to the pot.
While it's rich in flavor,
this soup is one of the lightest soup that you can make at home.
Low in fat, high in protein, and meat-free.
This recipe especially is appealing for healthy eaters.
Thank you for watching, and I'll meet you next time.
