In many situations we rely on our gut feeling. When we see a person we sometimes decide within milliseconds whether we like him/her or not. But how strong is the influence of first impressions on the outcome of political elections? In clever experiments researchers were able to show that even children rely on first impressions and that their judgements could be used to predict elections.
