This refreshing salad combines juicy pomelo, fragrant herbs, and the umami-rich flavor of grilled dried squid. Perfect for detoxing, dieting, or just indulging in authentic Vietnamese flavors!

Don’t have pomelo? Substitute with green mango, papaya, or even cabbage. And if dried squid isn’t your thing, swap it out for shrimp, pork, chicken, or beef. Vietnamese gỏi is as versatile as it is delicious.

INGREDIENTS I NGUYÊN LIỆU

1/2 pomelo (1/2 trái bưởi)
1/3 dried squid (1/3 mực to)
1 non-spicy chili (1 trái ớt sừng)
1/2 carrot (1/2 củ cà rốt)
1/2 onion (1/2 củ hành tây)

FISH SAUCE MIX (applied for many other salad dishes) I NƯỚC TRỘN GỎI

1.5 Tbs fish sauce (1.5 muỗng canh nước mắm)
1.5 Tbs brown sugar (or refined sugar) (1.5 MC đường cát hoặc đường vàng)
1 Tbs ưater (1 MC nước lọc)
3 Tbs lime juice (or best: 2 Tbs lime juice + 1 Tbs kumquat juice) (2 MC nước cốt chanh + 1 MC nước tắc/quất)
1 Tsp chili sauce (1 muỗng cà phê tương ớt)
1 Tsp minced garlic (1muỗng cà phê tỏi băm)
1 Tsp minced non-spicy (or spicy as prefered) chili (1 muỗng cà phê ớt băm cay hoặc khoing cay tuỳ thích)

GARNISH & TOPPING I TRANG TRÍ VÀ THÊM HƯƠNG VỊ

Fresh herbs (Vietnamese coriander I Thai Basil I Laksa leaf I thinly slicec kaffir leaf)
(rau gia vị tuỳ ý thích: ngò rí I quế I rau răm I lá chanh thái sợi)
Roasted peanut (đậu phọng rang)
Roasted onion (hành phi)
