Jeremy and Kaley Carling, from Farmington, Utah, faced numerous challenges in their journey to start a family. After struggling with infertility due to Kaley's lupus and rheumatoid arthritis, they turned to adoption. Despite setbacks, including two failed adoption attempts, they received life-changing news in 2015. In a whirlwind day, they adopted four children, including twins, within 24 hours. Despite financial struggles, a GoFundMe campaign and a generous donation from U.S. Bank helped support their growing family. Their story, shared on The Rachael Ray Show, inspired many, showcasing their resilience and love for their children.
There may come a point when many couples must make a significant choice and consider the
possibility of starting a family together. That is something Farmington, Utah residents
Jeremy and Kaylee Carling can identify to because they briefly considered it a few years ago.
So make sure to watch the entire video to know more about their story.
Prior to going to the same middle school and high school, Jeremy and Kaylee originally connected in
elementary school. The two then developed a romantic bond throughout their stay at the
latter, which ultimately resulted in their marriage. In fact, the couple claimed to be
soulmates on The Rachel Ray Show in February 2017. In light of this, Kaylee and Jeremy decided to
expand their family after getting married. Both of the couple's parents were very much in their
future plans when they were young. To achieve that particular desire, though, they would have
to face a number of challenging challenges. Sadly, Kaylee learned that due to various health concerns,
she was unable to become pregnant. The couple decided to try adoption instead,
although two attempts to do so were unsuccessful. Despite that setback,
on that single day in October 2016, their lives underwent a permanent alteration.
An individual may have a variety of romantic relationships during their life. Some people,
on the other hand, fall in love young and commit to that person for the foreseeable future.
On that basis, two Utah lovers may certainly belong to the latter group.
Since they were little children and attended the same schools,
Jeremy and Kaylee Carling have known one another. When they were teenagers,
the duo advanced their relationship and made it romantic. And looking back,
Jeremy thought their relationship would endure forever. Jeremy claimed on The Rachel Ray Show
that he and Kaylee attended elementary, junior high, and high school together.
After the wedding festivities were over, Kaylee and Jeremy set out to fulfill a long-held dream.
They had always wished to have a family. When Kaylee was young, her doctor gave her some
devastating information. The Farmington resident went to the doctor and learned that she had lupus
and rheumatoid arthritis. Although the two medical conditions are somewhat similar,
the former is the more severe of the two. Lupus and rheumatoid arthritis are two examples of
autoimmune diseases that can result in a variety of issues with a person's health. According to
the website Diabetes.companyouk, autoimmune disease refers to an ailment or disorder that
arises when the body's own immune system destroys healthy tissue, cells. The website then provided
some additional, in-depth knowledge regarding the disease. The immune system is the body's
defense against dangerous agents like bacteria, viruses, and poisons. It says,
they all have negative antigens. The immune system creates and delivers antibodies,
special proteins, to attack these antigens as a defense. The article continues, however,
there are instances where the immune system is unable to differentiate between healthy,
innocuous tissue and antigens, and as a result it targets and obliterates healthy tissue.
An autoimmune disease develops as a result of an autoimmune reaction
or attack. Kaylee had to deal with her two conditions in light of that.
The joints of a person's feet, hands, and other appendages can all be impacted by rheumatoid
arthritis. If the problem is not addressed in a timely manner, it may also result in irreversible
damage to those locations. Additionally, this type of arthritis can cause problems including
weariness and weight loss. Unfortunately for Kaylee, there is no treatment for this illness,
but there are techniques to manage it over the course of a person's life.
Early diagnosis and good treatment enable many patients with rheumatoid arthritis.
To have periods of months or even years between flares, states an article on the NHS website.
They may be able to live fulfilling lives and keep their normal jobs as a result.
Regarding the course of treatment, some patients engage in physiotherapy while others are typically
provided medication to help with the uncomfortable symptoms. A illness like rheumatoid arthritis
would be distressing enough for many people. Kaylee, however, also had to deal with an even
more serious issue. Lupus can have similar effects on a person's joints to rheumatoid arthritis,
but it also has additional symptoms. The illness may also cause inflammation in your heart,
lungs, brain, and kidneys, among other important organs. Lupus is a serious disorder,
yet it can be challenging to diagnose. According to a statement on the Mayo Clinic website,
lupus can be difficult to diagnose since its signs and symptoms frequently match those of other
illnesses. The most recognizable lupus symptom, a face rash that spreads over both cheeks like
a butterfly's wings, is present in many but not all cases. The Mayo Clinic then provided some
additional details about how lupus might develop in a person. In addition to the possibility of
organ inflammation, lupus can result in yet another unsettling issue, particularly for those
like Kaylee, who wish to start a family. Women with lupus have an increased chance of miscarriage,
the Mayo Clinic article continued. Preterm birth and high blood pressure preeclampsia
during pregnancy are made more likely by lupus. Kaylee and Jeremy continued with their plans
despite the dangers, but they had trouble conceiving for two years. The couple therefore
looked for a remedy to address their fertility problems. Regrettably though, that also failed
with lupus and rheumatoid arthritis playing a part. Jeremy and Kaylee already had a backup plan
in place at that time. In 2016, the latter remembered the experience to Parents.com,
saying, We had attempted to conceive for a number of years,
but that route was proving to be exceedingly hard on my body due to my lupus and RA. My husband and
I made the decision to stop trying and concentrate more on foster care and or adoption. It turned out
that before the problems she had with Jeremy, Kaylee had wanted to adopt a child. In order to
practice being parents, Jeremy and Kaylee adopted a number of foster children over the course of
next few months. The couple also attempted adoption, although the procedure was quite
frustrating. They did, in fact, lose out on two chances, the second of which came in June 2015.
According to Kaylee, the mother in issue was jailed in August 2015 as a result
of her participation in child sex trafficking. She and Jeremy decided to take on the role of
the babies and her siblings' permanent guardians as a result. Their strategy ultimately failed
since the young girl remained with her family. The narrative then took a devastating turn when
Kaylee stated that the child and her relative passed away shortly after the decision.
Unsurprisingly, the news completely devastated her and Jeremy. It was a roller coaster trip
that never stopped, she told ABC News. On the same day they learned of the mother's alleged crime,
Kaylee and Jeremy also got some positive news. The couple learned that Indy and Haven,
two young foster children, were in need of a home at that time. However, the big surprises
didn't stop there. Later on same day, a pregnant woman got in touch with Jeremy and Kaylee.
The mom wanted the potential parents to adopt her children because she was expecting twins at the
time. Amazingly, the citizens of Farmington appeared to be welcoming four new family
members within a matter of hours. After that chaotic day in the summer of 2015,
there was still some work to do. One of the twins had to spend a significant amount of
time in a neonatal intensive care facility after giving birth. A few months later in June 2016,
the infants Wesley and Summer arrived in Utah. Over the course of a very hectic day,
Kaylee and Jeremy finally achieved their dream after an exceedingly challenging road.
In October of last year, she said, both of the adoptions for the foster girls and the
twins were completed within 24 hours. On Reddit, Kaylee shared a picture of herself, Jeremy,
and their four adopted kids standing next to a judge in a courtroom. Four kids in less than 24
hours was the title of the post she made while using the usernames 0 to 4 and 5. From there,
the image generated over 700 comments in addition to just under 10,000 upvotes.
In addition to all of those remarks, Kaylee also left a statement that summarized everything.
Jeremy's wife talked about the challenges they had encountered before the big day.
She thought the result made it all worthwhile. There was, however, one more turn to this
particular tale. Kaylee abandoned her job to care for the four daughters after they arrived in the
fall of 2016. The family was now dependent on Jeremy's salary as a result, but the cash wasn't
merely enough to pay for basic needs. There was a lot more, in fact. So one of Kaylee's family
members came up with an interesting suggestion to help with the cash problem. With a goal of
$20,000, Kaylee's aunt Jennifer Dayton created a Gufundme campaign for the couple. The feedback
has been motivating and incredible, the mother remarked. And the $5 and $10 donations from those
who just want to assist were the ones that moved me the most. Then Kaylee and Jeremy got some
important assistance from an unexpected source. U.S. Bank gave the pair $15,000 during their
appearance on The Rachel Ray Show in February 2017. The Gufundme campaign, meanwhile,
has subsequently received over $9,000 in contributions from the general public.
