rests previously on my design rules our
dueling Duos completed their lounges and
it was a photo finish Team Air taking
the challenge just ahead of Team Earth
with each of the room winners now
decided just one week remain s to
complete these four competing visions
and for the judges to rule who will be
ground the winners along with the grand
prize of 300,000 Rand from capy Tech
Plus another 100,000 Rand from capy tech
for the viewers favorit time to fix the
snags those rough incomplete not quite
right details of each room while
implementing the judges feedback from
throughout the competition as the final
day of judging looms large
she's a mess yeah there's a lot of fix
here but I mean at least we've already
started with priming our wall so that we
can paint it the same color as our
fireplace wall yeah so that's going to
match nicely with our wooden and
then also give a nice transition to our
cupboards I didn't really like the
different Blues so I'm glad that we're
fixing that we also need to add crown
molding on our walls we feel like that's
going to almost like replicate our
design in the lounge and make it feel
more unified and as one so we need to do
crown molding on this wall on that wall
and then also on our TV
wall so what are we doing with the green
uh personally I think the marble will be
compromised um and I don't want to take
the responsibility for that but the
thing is like you said we removing the
green like it can't go back and forth
back and forth like we need to make a
decision and stick to the decision I'm
willing to take it off okay if you are
willing to take the responsibility then
I say let's box it up and take it off
but like can we work together on this
because it's just it can't just be me
yeah yeah definitely let's box it up and
try our hardest yeah to not break the
marel no so why everywhere final
decision no going back and forth
yeah um first thing that's very
prominent that's in your face our
curtain fell off I don't know how maybe
we need Ghostbusters to come in and know
do some some some chick over here but I
don't know who's doing this vooty on us
man yeah we need to we need to take care
of that we need to lift this mirror up
and make it simus on the wall I don't
know how we going to achieve that
because the the mirror needs to be hang
on the wall and now it makes it quite
complicated and difficult to be trying
to achieve that simless touch um but you
know we'll see what I can do with it
that snake is probably one of the most
difficult ones we have the same um
wallpaper that we have in our kitchen
our ceiling and yeah just like a just
mind the things that are still missing
tiles here and there yeah we have to
finish up this door here inside but we
also need some strip lights yeah strip
lights also we need strip light F our
mirror um that was supposed to be a
feature but future time and also tiing
was quite hectic so we had to leave that
off for the very end but we're getting
on that
ASAP we've already done the changing of
the island front it was a mirror little
bit unsafe we've now cladded it with a
counter top that's done this space of
year was quite empty um so Emy and I we
had a discussion about this a long
thought and decided to do this with a
tile from ctm and yeah I think it came
out very
well so as you can see in here a lot has
changed since the judging we have
curtains up the Tula wall is finally up
we've got some hooks to go with it so
we're going to hang some art on those
two hooks and then this is for like hats
gowns whatever as we go along we just
getting a grip on everything and uh
sorting out little bits and pieces sort
of like building a puzzle
right welcome Toy
Kingdom so I am personally still a
little bit salty coming off of the
lounge verdict you know placing forth
when you really love what you've done is
a hard P to swallow but we swallow it
anyway onto the kitchen yes can you
handle the heat on each on that side see
you there kitchen we have a stove top at
last which is great that wasn't here for
our kitchen judging love love that for
us um the dishes need to be done we have
running water a bit more Lighting in
here which looks lovely yeah in this
corner we've got both a hole in the wall
and a hole in the wall two holes don't
make a ride we've got a door for our
toilet I mean we've got a room within a
room which I love yes and I feel like
this beautiful baby that's been
installed um could possibly catapult us
to first place I like the sound of that
for more inspiration with their
finishing touches and seeking that final
Winning Edge team fire visits a pair of
trend setting tambur CL properties we
have always loved Tambo GL so I just
know that this is going to speak to us
so important to get out and get
inspiration from The Real World as much
as we love looking online there's
nothing like the real thing so going to
take note of all the details and can't
wait so we've got this business called
stay with us in Cape Town and this
business specifically is focused on
bespoke experiences for travelers to
Cape Town and we want to unlock some
value in some of the properties that we
have yeah I mean first impression is
yeah it screams Hannah and Katon so yeah
we're so happy to be here my eyes are
obviously drawn to the Wana the floor
yes the so we also did this um on our
floors in the interior of our apartment
so it's really nice to see that it can
be done because a lot of people think
it's controversial but yeah we feel
slightly Vindicated
actually the clumpy finish actually we
wanted to sort of get something that
will work with ours aage wise so
something that doesn't feel foreign that
you know when you actually arrive here
that it feels like it's been here always
yes this is the second oldest house in
tomur SL w oldest one was demolished so
now officially it's the oldest the
oldest and the bottom of the house was
used for a dairy um so it's it's quite
interesting to see at the bottom how the
spaces are defined by obviously the
dairy and the activities that went on
here yeah sense get a feel for that yeah
that's very honest I mean it's like an
old farmouse
literally so with this bedroom the main
aim was really to get natural light in
and also to connect it to the outside
space so basically what we did here is
to take this wall out and it really
brought a lot of light natural light in
there was weird glass bricks on that
side so we also got these beautiful
Heritage um double doors that you could
open up and you directly connected to
the Terrace and the Garden on that side
and you can see t mountain if you go of
course smart how do you balance Heritage
and modernizing it at the same time
obviously with pieces if you look at
certain pieces you can see it's there at
each piece and then other finisher
pieces are a lot more modern I think
it's also how you use space space were
very in the older days very
compartmentalized where when we design
houses now it's a lot more open plan it
flows a lot more easier so just sort of
bring those principles in and I mean we
did that by just by opening everything
up and really look at the flow of the
space and that sort of a more
contemporary use of the space holy so
guys I actually would love to go and
show you the property next door I think
it's not the same Clum piece but
something different and I think you need
to see that as
well okay guys so welcome we call this
our Penthouse apartment so it's 140
Square Apartment a three-bedroom
apartment and we decided again like we
did next door to make it a two-bedroom
because of that space it's literally
just us again I feel like this is really
speaking to our design style and also
kind of reaffirming that we kind of have
figured out what our Vibe is every every
single piece seems you know well thought
out and considered so yeah it's just
yeah I love when you walk into spaces
and you almost can't name where a
product has come from you it feels like
one of a kind and it really feels like
that in this
space to unlock the value I would say
you have to have the end point in mind
when you start developing that property
so if it's going to be ABNB or rental or
long-term lease or whatever so you're
going to develop it according to the
market that you're going for and then
you can have a focused process to unlock
that value whether you're searching on
the value side looking for a candidate
for your designed Vision or seeking more
of that standout kind of property at the
top end of the market private property
has something in tambor's cluff and all
around South Africa to fit any budget
all just a click away on
privateproperty.co.za
guys that is that is the mountain all
right oh my
word there's lion's head wearing its
beautiful
head so Exquisite so when investing in
properties I think one of the most
important thing is location and then the
feel that you get from the property the
the moment I walk into a property I know
if this is going to work or not we often
come and just have a class of Lely and
as you should as you
should oh man we so love looking at your
apartment M yeah M the views are
incredible it's so us we are just so
inspired as well I'm glad you enjoy it
yeah the views are very very special oh
and everything you've done on the inside
as well we saw a lot of ourselves in
this day yeah the the Retro elements and
the attention to the to the nooks it's
just yeah it's so incredible chef's kiss
yeah coming up look up look down look
out there's waterproofing that needs
doing in every direction and it's all
hands on
deck whether you're looking for a lock
up and go or a settle down and grow an
office for your booming business or a
safe haven we have a space for you
now just one look at what it takes to
waterproof the garages confirms this is
a job for St Goan what follows is little
short of a masterclass so when faced
with an instance like this where there's
no waterproofing applied to a retaining
wall so we have to talk positive and
negative waterproofing so this is
obviously waterproofing the positive
side of this retaining wall so what I
would do is recommend that the wall is
uh inspected thoroughly before applying
torch on membrane to it so we would
obviously put bamin primer onto the the
wall before applying two formal layers
of the aidex torchon membrane which will
be our dual reinforced membrane after
the two layers of formal membrane are
applied to the wall we would then
protect it with our Abid drain layer
which is a protective membrane as well
as a drainage layer that helps with
drainage of water that may sit on this
wall as well as protecting the torch on
me brain from back filling so we'll
obviously take it all the way down to
the foundation footing and all the way
to the top and counter flash once you
get to the ground level at least 150
above ground level we counter flash with
a super Lake roll or a duroflex for
counter flashing when redesigning
waterproofing on balconies is just as
important and St gobain has everyone
rethinking What Lies Beneath their feet
so we want to put clumpies on the floor
here on our balcony what would you
recommend we do in terms of
waterproofing for our balcony I see that
there are some cracks on the topping um
so what I would recommend is we take
topping away assess the slab see if
there's any cracks going through the
slab and then determine what system we
would use so there's two options it
would be either the jlex slurry or we
would use a torch on membrane in terms
of grouting for our clumpy what are some
things that we need to look out for
being close to the Sea into the ocean um
the external conditions plays a part in
your grouting and your adhesive um so we
always recommend as a good procedure to
use bonded in your adive and in your
grouting you spoke about clumpy which is
a really historical and and old
application and and back in the day they
used to want the grout line really thick
to give you that look that they're
wanting uh I would suggest with a normal
grout you don't go that wide so go up to
8 mm with your grout
line uh today I'm busy fixing all our gr
snakes basically it's just here and
there where these little indentations of
the gr um there not probably proper
filled um I'm just refilling that tools
that I'm going to use is a motor
caulking gun allows you for much cleaner
look and much clean line um when you gr
preparing for Cape Town's Four Seasons
in one day it pays to have energy
efficient
insulation it's proper heat up here
might have some thermal issues and
here's the man of the hour how you doing
good you I'm so good you thanks for
coming through and being a part of this
definitely can feel that we might have
some issues with already temperature and
that's why I'm dying to know more about
your product man talk to me about airite
what exactly is this all about basically
what airite is it's a product made from
recycled glass and sand and it's an
insulation product that you put inside
your ceiling void so what the product
does it actually blocks temperature
coming inside the unit so it's got some
air gaps inside and just how the product
is is manufactured so that's a beautiful
thing about iser insulation is that your
temperature from external will not
affect your inside temperature but the
flip side is also quite important right
so once you've heat up this room or made
it warm or colder the product actually
prevents heat loss back into the ceiling
void so that speaks to energy saving
right and that's perfect for our
designers and our deos that are working
this
space I just got back from Buco I got
the Golden Mile paint from darham and
and I got some other goodies zo needed
some painters made for was now so that's
going to come in handy I got another big
paintbrush for the lime wash which we'll
use this
for we're currently lime washing the
wall that's behind us it's our curve
feature wall in our bedroom so we want
to play with some different colors and
textures and just bring in some visual
interest into our bedroom lime wash
works by using two different colors next
to each other we used ice cream contain
ERS and you get a big brush that can fit
in both containers and you kind of put
half of the brush in one color half of
the other brush in another color and
then once you apply it on the wall you
do do like a crisscross pattern it just
gives like a nice texture a nice
different look and Fa the two different
colors that we use for this slime wash
is uh darham golden mild which is the
darkest shade and then dar's peny shell
it's the lightest shade and then that's
the color that to use for fireplace W
how does this material look in here so
good I think it's really going to pop
you know it's going to drap beautifully
on the clumpy it's so amazing thank you
home Fabrics we love you so when have
you had a fear of heights since Kon
since 10 minutes ago actually I'm going
to go get lunch
by we currently visi with our snags and
our balcony uh we have bangal Hy
currently our balcony with clumpies it's
looking really good always trusted Uncle
Hy a very good Tyler so yeah just check
out un's work it's really nice I can't
wait to see this balcony uh in its full
Glory wider grouting with clumpy tiling
is popular but using the prog grip
cladding from ctm Z has five mil spacing
for a reason this keeps the grouts from
cracking and this keeps the lines
straight and everything looking so
seamless so yeah just consider your
spacings whenever you're tiling uh for
outdoors of course you have to use a
bigger spacing so that like the the the
the crouching sort of like shines so the
grouching comes through the Duos are all
taking a Hands-On approach to getting
the job
done I am busy with our snakes studying
our doors so this is a white wash that
I'm doing with a stain the difference
between paint and stain on doors or on
wood you leave the Grain and it it
enhances the grain a little bit more
while paint is actually just a coat of
color that you paint over it you'll
cover that
completely baby boy hey girl please grab
that side oh wow oh you guys here for
the couch I'll be I'm here I'm here just
you mind if we just no can you please we
need a three seater guys we need a three
seater but is this a four-seater no
that's definitely three is that a three
we chose the
two-seater it's a two-seater be a three
seater well all the judges critique of
us is that it was proportionally wrong
actually let's go measure this like okay
let's let's go there and check like
what's happening I'll be there Judge
Judy yes
yes okay so this comes up to please push
it for me this side this situation is
much better than keeping this yeah
that's cool that's the ni space to work
party yeah couch problem put to rest up
next with each team running on nervous
energy and not much else a good night's
sleep is top of everyone's list
[Music]
find your
wonderful Jacobs
[Music]
vindar this motivating moment for team
fire came courtesy of The Bold and
intense Taste of Jacob's southeast Asia
instant coffee cheers my man cheers
Hanah what do we do when we've got a lot
to do make some coffee relax but that's
good cuz that's how we ground
ourselves okay do you have the snag list
in your mind because
I wait let me let this kick in first
okay the biggest thing to me is grouting
can I have to put my CDM hat on again
and but so good at it by now come on I
love it I'm so passionate about grouting
it's just that it's that paint little
touchups painting touchups it's minor
thing what else like I'm like styling
styling oh yeah but we're going to strip
everything down yum so
y it's kicked in is it we got this well
let's
go we currently need to look for a light
for our Powder Room what what kind of
style do you think we should go for I
think we should go for a pendant lights
because we already have a wall mounted
lights on the other side just for like
balance what type of shf do you think
like Square gloss gold uh maybe
something a bit rounded you know but not
too big do you think we should go for
something subtle or something that's
like I think it's a whole party room is
very subtle so maybe like a like a wow a
wow yeah that kind of cool I know Amy
and Josh has something similar I mean
Las is a wall mounted we're going for
pendants pendant so do we just risk it
yeah I think we should risk it I feel
like this feels like water yeah it feels
like a nice bubble yeah we should
definitely risk it so this one yeah this
one yeah I really love this and then a
mounted light that will mat yeah let's
just look do we want our war mounted
light to match our pigment um not
necessarily but then if you can find
something that matches it that would be
nice but if we find something that
matches it then it's going to be Josh
and Amy but so I think we should take
something that maybe reads the same
language but not exactly the
same so
look and feel
basically this is plant kingdom our
little Oasis on site yes we yeah keeping
all our plants drained and making sure
all the side dust isn't getting to them
cuz it really kills a plant
we finally have water on site yes very
exciting stuff guys Hannah Make It Rain
on them babies okay don't go chasing
waterfalls let's s to the rivers and the
actually I can't remember the lyrics I'm
going to cut this so I'm removing all
the hardware of the store with the Ryobi
screwdriver um just so that I can sand
it with the ri sander nice and smooth
I'm doing all these extra bits and so
that we get a really clean finish so a
better end result guys I'm just leveling
things out here with my Stanley spirit
level I've measured everything out so
wish me luck I have never felt more
Butch in my life I need to use this draw
we need to drop our painting to the
daytim line of the door frame and yeah
I've got my Stanley spirit level I've
got my Ryobi draw and yeah I I'm up to
the top
TK today we're going to fix all our
snags on the seatings and hopefully
we'll be in time for the final judging
this partu from Durham is specifically
it's a premium matte range the matte
dulls The Contours on the seiling itself
so if there's little maybe small
indentations or stuff your eye won't
catch those small indentations in the
ceilings small imperfections um so this
is a very good product to use the
premium mat range
the nice thing about Daren paint is when
you've got a little bit paint patches on
your hands just go under water wash a
little bit and it will come off very
easily is she level Stanley says
yes okay but now I got to get this view
from a different vantage point so I'm
going to go around the kitchen and then
I can really judge would you look at
that I'm very happy with what I've been
doing here just filling up these gaps
with silicone it's looking good already
I just have to clean it up properly and
like you see there's like yellow smudges
where like the cloth was coming off so I
have to like repaint around these edges
and just like make sure it's cleaned
properly if I take this light casing you
can see like the difference you
know so yeah guys just finished off The
Powder Room I had to just kick that out
the park you know now the main Suite
just like small touches cuz you know
focusing on detail here we have to make
sure that the judges are happy and I'm
happy with my work you know I always say
I want my work to speak for itself so
yeah so we are grouting right now and
the grouting is
grouting we really like the crown
molding that was in our lounge and it's
almost like our signature design cuz we
did it in the ctm bathroom challenge so
we're currently installing crown molding
in our bedroom as well just so it speaks
the same language and the SPAC is read
really well together I'm currently
fixing the crowning once the all using D
this time yesterday we used clue so I'm
using nails so that can be perly fixed
and through the water and then after
that will pain
off I've only sended three panels This
the third panel and there's two more to
go yeah I know it's very easy to
overlook these panels because they're
like hidden underneath the desk we just
like take our time just to make sure
like everything is perfect for
painting proud designers themselves team
Earth are giving serious props to what
their Samsung products bring to the
party from the Samsung appliances they
played a very very big role in tying up
the space together if you look at the
kitchen our Island beautiful beautiful
LX stove there and just our appan is in
the kitchen just to complete the look
but out of them all the surf TV that you
have in a bedroom is a winner for me
personally Samsung brought a lot of
luxury into the space their products are
just they just speak for themselves and
like they just bring that Vena you
know just ahead will a lighting choice
or wood wash be the downfall or the
secret to a great design and what a
difference a dick May
[Music]
Beast
pooke the building looks amazing I
really like the way they've modernized
it but also I have kept the Heritage
about it yeah know that building is
looking like a country girl that went to
the city and never forgot where she's
come from man she hot one of the beauty
secrets helping the Silver Fox look so
hot is her new decking from Everlast
we've seen it stand up to time the
elements and prove itself a
keeper I'm absolutely loving how this
deck is looking so far but talk to me
about the process of how you put this
all together this is on a waterproof
area it's a raise deck we use a little
Titan support pedestal that we use it
protects the waterproofing
yeah so the frame is down and then we
level it out with the pedestals
underneath make sure we're happy with
the level and then we start laying
boards then the deck goes on that's the
quick part the boards now Johan what I
know from the old traditional wooden
style decking is that there was a lot of
movement sometimes the wood would warp
as well and you see a lot of changes in
the structure over time is that a
similar case with this cup of decking
yeah there is still a lot of movement in
the composite as long as you don't go
out of the the limits then you can't
control it esally with this one you'll
see we've left some gaps here we're
going to put one deing board in the
opposite direction each board is working
individually they're working together
now Ashley once our decking is
completely installed what exactly do you
think it can handle I mean is it event
and dance proof very event in dance
proof you guys can dance on it you can
drink your drinks on it you can spool
your drinks on it provided you clean it
up it's stain resistant scratch
resistant moisture resistant as well so
when we've got our rain coming in our
High sun exposure here in the the Cape
Town City the digging board to handle
all of
that now I remember doing a lot of the
judging out here and it literally just
felt like a construction site so feeling
this situation I can imagine so many
incredible memories being made here and
wow what a place to
celebrate when I walk onto Sid and I saw
the deck and the Escape gray it just
like does something to this space and I
can imagine people bring and from a
Heritage point Point we've really also
showed that you don't always need to
change so much on a Heritage building
you can really run with what there was
and just essentiate what was originy
there and I think by doing that you kind
of give new life and just a fresh breath
into old building and looking at this
you can see it didn't break the bank but
we got that amazing product in the end
to find out how much you can do without
having to submit plans we check in with
city building inspector Damen Christians
I think of the people watch the show
they are going to be inspired to make
their own changes at home what sort of
changes can they do in the property that
maybe doesn't need approval from City
you allow to do general maintenance to
your property without triggering
building PL submissions for example uh
if you want to redo your kitchen
cabinets if you want to add paints
curtains buil-in Cupboards in your
bedrooms items like that that are
superficial that don't require any
building work or demolition work won't
require plan so the rule of is when you
demolish walls or you adding rooms or
you're doing internal changes that
requires building new walls etc etc will
trigger a building plan approval and I
always advise the clients to make
communication with your local Authority
do things the right way so that there
won't be any hiccups and hurdles going
forward in the
way Sola is your best friend when it
comes to water heating costs and Ingo h
of Steel elron brings a wealth of energy
saving tips to
sight everybody has a heat pump at home
it's our fridge and if you touch the
fridge at the back it's always warm
right you're heating your kitchen with
your fruit being cooled in the fridge so
and this is how a heat pump works
instead of wasting now the heat to your
kitchen we wrap something around our
tank and we use this waste heat to heat
up our hot water so you have 1,000 L hot
water standing here which is more than
enough for the whole house and we kept
the circulation lines and supply lines
in the house short that we don't
transport the water through the whole
house and wasting a lot of energy in
your ring M if you're running on
municipality power you can save up to
80% if you're connected to the solar
system the energy we're using is for
free so the heat pumps are not using any
energy we have to pay for so you can use
it as a battery as well there's
different settings if the Sun starts
shining our controller will jump on a
second level and it can produce higher
temperature with the heat pumps so
you're using it as a water battery with
so much of the focus being on interior
lighting Natasha strubel of ulux is here
to cast the whole building as the hero
well Natasha I'm getting excited now
because it seems like there are so many
options with regards to lighting what do
you have for outdoors especially when we
try to illuminate the outside of our
building so we've got the stunning range
over year which is part of our iglo
range it carries a 5year warranty for
starters obviously it's LED so it's
efficient okay and what's very nice
about this is it's quite versatile so
for example if you wanted to illuminate
your wall yeah you could literally turn
it that way it would illuminate your
wall and you can turn it around like
that if you actually just want lighting
for the exterior all right I'm getting
excited I what else see absolutely so
this one you could put into that space
over there where the conduit is and got
this beautiful light that's facing out
so what's very nice is that it's not
facing up so you don't get light
pollution I love it and I think the
accents are going to match some of our
frames as well so this is pretty much
made for our building I want to know
with regards to the options in the Solar
world are we able to still harness some
of that free energy to create more of an
effect with lighting we have got so much
in the range of solar so let's just talk
about if you want to illuminate your
garden so we've got a lovely solar spot
light as you can see your solar panel is
here as long as it's in direct sun it
will charge and automatically go on at
night and you can highlight your tree or
highlight certain aspects in your garden
these are so cool abely beautiful sticks
in the ground sticks in and then again
you can turn it whichever way you want
to all right but anything bigger that we
might have in terms of making a bigger
impression with lighting well you know
we've got War lights as well and then
we've got security security is always a
very hot topic definitely so as you can
see here is your so solar panel what's
very nice is that it is a
monocrystalline solar panel so you'll
probably get 4 to 6 hours in the Sun and
this would last you for about 2 days
this one over here has actually got a
motion sensor so it will automatically
pick up movement when someone walks past
at night the light will go on and alert
you and then what's very nice is that
this is going to be high up on your wall
you can't get up there to change
anything if you want something and we've
got a remote as well that works with it
so you've got an auto setting you can
set to go off after 3 hours 5 hours or 8
hours Sky's a limit okay Natasha now
you're just showing off but I think we
are absolutely year for it I got to
thank you so much for educating me and I
think providing our entire building with
exceptional lighting options and of
course quality the snags are almost done
and every one of our design Duos is
proud and happy about how they've
maximized on their Caesar
Stone our journey with Caesar Stone
began with our favorite Stone of all the
smoke Stone we love that it had this
texture to it it's got that little
dappled physical texture with the vein
running through it which was
beautiful we had a piece of our smoke
Stone from Cesar Stone left and I mean I
thought it would be a fantastic idea to
put it on the fire mantle I think it
looks
beautiful the reason why we went with
the miror Bell season a stone is because
of the finish and like the colors it
sort of like resembles the oceans side
like sand and rocks in the ocean um and
it has like a lot of
warm we made use of the marabo on our
vanity in our on Street bathroom and
it's just to continue the same slab
throughout our apartment and for
consistency we use the same scissor
Stone to frame our entrances and our
Windows as well as the inserts so that
we don't use a lot of like different
stones and different material
in the same space cuz the space is small
so we decides to like keep it consistent
and clean we had an wonderful
opportunity to work with the scissor
Stone and this is where we started so we
decided to choose the impa for vanity
top which works very good for our Earth
Tone and Earth theme yeah it just brings
the space down and also you know picks
up from the other colors and grounds the
whole space and also like that black
element so we kept everything Moody and
this Stone has been a blast cuz it just
complimented and finish off everything
that we wanted to do you know cuz yeah
details key and scissor Stone has been
so helpful they cool tool like for us
like in a major major R and our sweet
you know
tooko sh out Stone guys
investment team fire us their Caesar
Stone smoke Stone to maximum effect in
their kitchen bathroom and here on the
fireplace to complete the triangle of
smoke Stone we have decided to carry it
through into the lounge three is a crowd
so three is a party thre is a party yes
I think it's really beautiful here it's
incredible and just the light I think
adds this glow that just further
emphasizes it and I mean you're so used
to seeing Stone on flat horizontal
surfaces we wanted to you know spice
things up and flip it vertical and it it
holds up so well it really does and it's
got a like it's got a grounding factor
for the lounge which is really playful
so this is our sophisticated Moody
moment smoke stone for
Life still to come snags be gone with
every room Ship Shape our teams use
their free day and their skills to build
a Arena
tomorrow caite Tech do it all on our app
just like
[Music]
that stand a chance to win a weekend
away in the winning apartment with Buco

the prompts to enter begin with buo
[Music]
yeah like I feel like we spent the the
cap Tech budget very well we invested on
items that don't exist in the market
like we custom made some items we had
connections and capit Tech and we
matched it together right
magic uh so designed this chair actually
in lockdown 4 years ago yeah it was a
time where we just wanted to celebrate
our mom but it was just an idea that
came and we just wrote The Wave and got
it on paper you know 2 years ago I met a
friend C uh he owns a manufacturing
company called PN
boards I met C last year at a coffee
shop for and we were basically just
having conversations around design what
they wanted to build and some of the
things in which they basically had in
the pipeline myself as a manufacturer I
found it as a great partnership for us
to have that I can come in with my
expertise in manufacturing and then they
can come in with the expertise with
design for the noo range with this
particular chair we use Oak and it gives
the chair a bit of character we also use
a combination of posted fabric they use
a lot of fabrics and earthy uh materials
within the project so we actually
decided to go with
that we finally like got our heads
together and we were like let's start
with the range and this baby came out
and it's been like friendship and
partnership but also just building a
community of designers cuz we feel like
African products are really a thing you
know it's very important um you know
also like you know we're looking at
exporting products and things like that
I'm currently busy pulling the strings
in the curtain tape so that we can
create nice gathers and folds in the
curtain so now we need to do one last
fix with the height so I've pinned where
we need to take it in and hopefully
that's the last time that our Lounge
curtains has to go back without Des
dining Duos having done everything they
can they're taking a day off before
judging begins to join buo and capy Tech
in building a Greener environment for
the children who call the Rainbow of
Hope House their home good morning
everybody my name is sha my name is Lucy
I'm and we just like to welcome you to
Rainbow of Hope and want to thank you so
much for coming out today and we really
excited to get started
y to create an instant Garden from the
ground up buo delivers these genius
robust Planters and it doesn't take long
from
here we're so excited to build some
vegie Gardens with you today do you do
you kind of use this space use this SP
yeah so would you like to would you guys
like to keep this as open as possible to
not have them here so more along along
the walls because they do they do Tik
Tok yeah you see
okay okay see this is the we need don't
want to implicate with Tik Tok so they
eat here and they do their Tik Tok
dances they play soccer so this space
along the
wall Four Hands on death let's do a
rainbow of Hope on three 1
2 today we're in Goodwood at Rainbow of
Hope children's home we're here with the
Fantastic Team from buer and capy Tech
to do some amazing work in the garden
for the children that are housed here
it's absolutely important for buo to
give back our purpose is building lives
Building Homes and building communities
and as you can see today we're
definitely building in the
community for me rainbow of Hope is a
second shoted life I don't know where I
would have been actually I do know where
I would have been if I wasn't at Rainbow
of hope I think I might have been Place
back with my family or actually on the
road there was no other chance for me
rainbow of Hope established about 17
years ago we are now 17 years in
existence it started with a vision of
Allison wanting to start the children's
home but Allison's always been within
the community since she was 16 I am
Allison's daughter I was adopted by
Allison at the age of 2 weeks old and
yeah she's the only mother I've known
and I've shared my mother with hundreds
of other kids and that's okay I enjoy
it so I've been staying at R house since
the age of three and right now I'm 17 I
mean yo I've had so many different
experiences here but like I can say so
far it's only been the best I love the
family I have at the moment they're not
my biological family but I love them as
if they're my biological family like our
team of fellow capy Tech volunteers her
Ace considers a Grassroots approach best
for building a better South Africa I'm a
cap uplifter as you can see so we're
here at Rainbow H our team my team's
here at the back helping out with
gardening my hands are already dirty
we're ready to roll up our sleeves get
our hands dirty and help out with
gardening C also partnered with my
design rules we thought it's a great
partnership there are a lot of
entrepreneurs that have so many dreams
and we hope that with our support they
can take it further and invest in their
dreams businesses lives and that will
create sustainable growth
the Highlight has been the amount of
people that have come out because you
know with Nos and so on a lot of times
people say that they're willing to do
something and they just don't show up so
we've been having a problem lately with
commitment so it's really cool that
everyone actually stuck to their word
and they came out here just to plant
with us get to know us have fun with us
laugh with us so that that's been
amazing for me to see the the turnout it
feels really good to give back it feels
really good to see a smile on all the
kids' faces there was such camaraderie
between everyone and it's just been it's
been a happy day yeah and honestly I
feel like I got so much from them their
Joy their you enjoyment of the day it
just reminds you of what's important in
life my hands clearly are The dirti Zo
yours are clean these are these are
director hands okay so you just point
I'm pointing yeah there and we must just
if my hands are dead you won't see them
you w see where I'm pointing you know
when the Buco and K people pulled up it
was like yes more hands you know and it
just made the the job like just quick I
wish they were there for grouting as
well it would have been great extra
hands you know what bro if they came for
grouting would have been so fun but I
mean it was having them around and just
know helping me and just theal I'm not
familiar with that was cool working with
other teams is quite exciting I think we
need to work on the team Dynamic all
over again it's been fun it's been a a
blast I've had a good
time it's been amazing taking a break
from the house this is really
therapeutic of fres it's gardening we're
giving life to the Garden so it's been a
nice rest day for me personally and I
think for you as well just
pointing it's been such a beautiful
before and after I think we can leave
today really just knowing we've done a
good thing and left a space more
beautiful than we found it love that
well what I think about the new veggie
garden is let's see I like it I enjoy it
and hopefully we maintain it good keep
our heads on it green fingers it's very
bright and friendly and that's what we
aspire to be a home that is welcoming
and just full of love it's been really
fun today getting my hands dad along
with the Duos it's also been great
seeing how the different teams get to
work together versus having to be on
different challenges it's been a
fantastic day I'm I say it's not my
first time so I'm really enjoying this
it's nice getting my hands dirty and
doing it with everyone else and this is
just a start I think there's still some
hard work left for us for the
day fire earth water air it's still
anyone's to win so tune in next week to
