These makeup trends have to die.
Now that we are in 2025, I think it is time to review the worst makeup trends of 2024 that I think would be great if they stayed there.
Before starting, I recently discovered how seriously people take trends.
I just made a video about the 10 trends that I think will dominate in 2025.
And some of you have taken it very seriously.
And if you thought that was spicy, this is going to be much spicier.
So buckle up.
Just a clarification.
All this is just my personal opinion.
If you like any of the trends I talk about in this video, keep using it.
Of course, do whatever you want.
Do what makes you feel good.
I love it.
I'm just sharing my personal opinions.
And yes, that's all.
Well, let's get to it.
The first trend that has to die are laminated eyebrows.
And I say it with all my heart.
I myself went through a brief stage with laminated eyebrows.
Now I look at the photos and I wonder, what was I doing?
Let's be honest, eyebrow trends come and go, and they are often quite discordant.
Even if we go back to the eyebrows of the 30s, they are very different from how we wear them now.
But I think this style of eyebrows in particular, laminated eyebrows, will be one that we will remember and say.
I think it will define a bit the first years of the 2000s and it will be something that we will remember and it will give us a bit of shame to others.
There is something that seems very unnatural to me about having eyebrows glued to the face.
As a profile, it looks weird.
I don't think it looks very good on anyone.
I don't know, I'm not a big fan of this eyebrow trend.
Let's put that aside.
And if you wonder why I sound a little more hoarse than usual, it's because I'm recovering from being so sick.
I got sick on Christmas Eve and I was sick until Christmas Eve.
And today is New Year's and I couldn't spend another day without recording.
So yes, that's why I sound like that.
It makes me nervous to talk about this.
The second trend that I want to leave behind, I think it will offend a lot of people.
It's going to be a little controversial.
I already hear many of you running to the comments section defending this trend.
But you don't have to defend yourself with me.
I'm just any girl on the internet.
Who cares about my opinion.
But the trend that has to die is that everyone looks the same, fillers, Botox.
And before you get mad, let me explain.
If you put fillers and Botox, if you want to put fillers and Botox.
If that's yours, do it.
If you ask me my opinion, it's not mine.
I haven't done any of these things and I'm not going to lie, I've thought about it.
But for me, on the one hand, the risk is greater than the reward.
Recently, this scan came out of the face of a person who had been applying filler for years.
And it turns out that the filler does not dissolve as they taught us to do.
Because they always told me that the filler dissolves and that the body metabolizes it.
It's basically something natural.
The body creates acid and hyaluronic and dissolves completely.
But it turns out that it doesn't have to be like that because in the scan of this person's face
it looks like the filler has spread all over the face.
And I don't want that.
We have all seen the massive influx of lip fillers.
We know that filler migrates, so we have seen fillers that have moved
out of the reddish edge around the mouth and, for me, it doesn't look natural.
It is not favorable and ages a lot.
So, personally, I don't think I would ever put a lip filler.
But, on the other hand, Botox poses risks.
Botox is one of the most toxic substances known to man.
It is a neurotoxin and there are people who inject it into their face,
which is a totally their decision.
You can inject whatever you want into your face, but for me, the risk that something goes wrong,
that my muscles are paralyzed or that my face does not move naturally,
is not something I am willing to risk.
So I'm going to let that trend pass.
Once I had a friend, I was talking to a friend about this, I just told her that,
you know, I think I'm personally going to choose not to put Botox just because I don't
agree with the negative side effects it entails.
And she told me, oh my God, you're crazy.
That never happens.
That only happens in groups of chapuzas, you know, clinics, whatever.
And she told me, oh my God, do it.
Put Botox on at once.
And I told her, I don't know.
I'm fine.
I like my face.
And I think I want to keep it.
And I think we should normalize the fact that we like our face.
Is it so strange that things happen when you inject things into your face?
It is not something that should be taken lightly.
It is a very serious decision to make.
I am sure that some of you have your own horror stories about fillers,
Botox and all that kind of stuff.
But yes, risks are not worth it.
And in the second part of this, very quickly, I think everyone is starting to look the
same and everyone has that Instagram face.
I have always admired the unique features that people have.
I think it just makes them really beautiful.
And, obviously, not everyone is going to feel the same.
People are going to want to correct these things, in quotation marks, when, in my opinion,
they do not need correction.
But yes, that is my perorata about fillers and Botox.
I am not going to go too deep into this because I have many opinions about it.
Sincerely, I could make my own video about it.
But, anyway, all I want to say is that you don't need to defend me your decision
to put fillers or Botox.
I don't care what you do with your face.
This is just my opinion.
That's all.
The number one trend that I think we should leave behind is the skin care routine in 10
steps.
And listen to me, I am an addict to skin care.
I love skin care routines, skin care moments, but I have noticed an increase in the popularity
of these very elaborate skin care routines in which influencers use a lot of products.
And don't get me wrong.
I think having a wide variety of products is great for certain problems.
But I think using so many active ingredients in a routine actually hurts more than good.
And honestly, I think many influencers do it because they get visits and it is satisfying
to see it.
So I totally understand that aspect.
But I think that the common person who only wants to have a skin care routine,
I would simply tell him that he does not need a 10-step skin care routine.
Personally, I find that my skin is really happy as usual without actives.
If I notice a problem that needs to be treated with actives, I incorporate an active into
my routine.
Maybe two if I really feel elegant.
But yes, I feel that the 10-step skin care routine is not very realistic.
I don't think it looks very good under makeup either.
When I use a lot of product for skin care under makeup, if it is not completely absorbed,
little balls are formed.
The makeup doesn't last that long.
It doesn't apply that well.
Yes, I just don't think we can leave behind the skin care routine so elaborate.
Okay, the fourth trend that I think we should put aside are very thick eyelash extensions
or even very thick eyelashes.
For me, this reminds me of 2016 makeup.
Obviously, eyelash extensions were not so popular back then.
But we are seeing this resurgence of very thick eyelashes in the form of eyelash extensions.
Personally, I am not a fan of that style.
I prefer a more natural look when it comes to eyelashes.
And, to be honest, I think the trend of thick eyelashes is going out of fashion.
I think we are going to see a much more natural focus on eyelashes.
And don't get me wrong, some girls look better with a curled eyelash look than others.
But it doesn't seem to me that it is very favorable.
It's just my opinion.
And I used to wear drag queen eyelashes at school.
By the way, I used the thickest and heaviest eyelashes in the world to the point that,
by the way, I became allergic to latex due to the excessive exposure to glue for eyelashes.
So yes, perhaps that is why this resurgence of so populated eyebrows that we are seeing
But yes, I would be happy if we left that for 2024.
This next trend I want to talk about, I don't know if I will be able to express it as I want,
is anti-aging and using that saying in everything.
I think this is related to my aversion to filler and botox.
I think we are demonizing aging as a society.
And I don't know why.
On the other hand, I have seen that more and more beauty brands include older women in their campaigns.
And I think it is absolutely beautiful.
I love to see it.
I think these women are impressive.
I never look at a woman who is older than me.
And I think that if I was just a little younger, I would be beautiful.
No, I see them and think, oh, how beautiful.
I think aging is something beautiful.
Everyone is going to age, it is inevitable, it is something natural.
I think, you know, getting years and wisdom is something beautiful and I understand why it can
be unpleasant for people or why people may not have the same vision as me.
I understand it perfectly.
But I just wish we stopped using so much anti-aging language.
I understand that you want to take good care of your skin and prevent premature wrinkles and things like that.
Well, yes, I'm tired of all this culture that goes against aging.
It seems strange to me.
I don't know.
What do you think?
Do you follow me?
Am I going crazy?
What do you think?
I think the reason why anti-aging marketing tactics bother me is that, obviously,
the beauty industry is a bit predatory by nature.
As if it took advantage of the insecurities of women.
And I think it is because of this language, because of this pressure towards fillers,
botox and all those things, whatever, all these crazy beauty treatments.
And don't get me wrong.
There are some beauty treatments that I totally support, others not so much.
The risk is not worth it.
Anyway, I think that is creating an even greater insecurity in older women who are
experiencing aging, wrinkles and all those things.
I think they are painting it as something that should generate insecurity.
While, in my opinion, I don't think you should feel insecure about it.
I think that sums up my opinion quite well.
Aging is not something you should feel insecure about.
And I feel that the whole anti-aging issue can be a bit predatory.
I don't know, maybe I'm exaggerating.
Okay, the next one seems pretty strong to me.
Can we stop using these?
They are always the same.
If we are going to use products to adjust the pH, let's do them in a new way.
But more or less, as I have seen them, it has always been that strong pink,
pink pH, nothing surprising, nothing revolutionary.
Obviously, I think this type of product has more visits on social media
because they usually give a slightly more alarming result.
I guess the color will be black and then you will put it on your face and it will be pink
or the brightness of the lips will be transparent and you will put it on your lips and it will be,
you guessed it, pink pH, strong pink.
But yes, I would be happy if we did not see more pH products next year.
It's just not my thing.
I don't think pink pH is favorable, at least not in me and, in my opinion,
in most people.
To take advantage of that, the next trend that I wouldn't mind seeing in 2024 is the strong pink color.
And don't get me wrong, I think it had its moment.
And I was here when it had its moment.
I liked the moment it had.
I just think the moment is over.
And I feel that the strong pink color is a bit chill.
It almost reminds me of the 80s wave.
And to me, personally, the 80s are probably one of my least favorite decades for makeup.
So yes, I just don't think the strong pink color is a natural look.
I don't think it's very favorable in many skin tones.
If you like the strong pink color, of course, keep using it.
But yes, I feel that this trend of intense pink blush applied in excess is over.
It's over.
I think we are ready to move on.
The next thing I want to talk to you about, I have mixed feelings,
and it's about the excessive makeup releases.
I feel that the beauty industry has gone a little crazy.
We see new brand launches almost every day, and the trend cycle goes by very fast.
It's as if a product was launched and the next week we forgot about it and moved on to the next.
It's crazy.
It's a bit related to excessive consumption.
I don't know.
Personally, I feel a little overwhelmed when I see all this makeup coming out,
especially because I work in the beauty industry, obviously,
and I'm always trying new products.
My job is to know what a trend is and things like that.
I guess I just want to know how you feel when you see new products coming out all the time.
Do you feel that same feeling of overwhelm?
Do you feel that they are one more way for these brands to make money?
On the other hand, I understand.
I understand that brands are going to launch products they need to keep making money and,
luckily, they are making products that satisfy their consumer base well.
But sometimes I think that these excessive makeup launches, when you launch so often,
sometimes subtract integrity and quality from the products you release.
I don't know.
I wonder if instead of launching 10 products throughout the year, or whatever,
you would launch 5, but put twice as much effort in those 5.
I almost wonder, would you make more money?
Would your audience feel better served if you investigated more?
These are just my thoughts on it.
I would love to hear your opinions in the comments section.
Makeup trend number 9
I am very curious to know if you agree with me on this.
Are the setting powders that reflect light or the luminous setting powders?
I have noticed that in 2024 many setting powders that reflect light were launched.
Personally, I do not use luminous setting powders.
When I want to set my makeup, I use powders to control the fat,
prolong its duration and get a more mattified look.
For me, having luminous setting powders goes against its purpose.
I don't know.
I just find that these luminous setting powders never look good.
I feel like I look greasy at the end of the day.
I need more retouches throughout the day and I still want those matte setting powders.
I think there is a time and a place for a little luminous setting powders,
like the setting powders with environmental lighting Hourglass.
Those are the only more luminous setting powders that I will probably use in my life.
But I have seen many brands that release powders that reflect light, luminous powders.
And for me, it's as if they just frustrated the whole purpose.
I don't know.
Do any of you like luminous setting powders?
This may be more a matter of personal preference.
But if in 2025 no one launched a luminous setting powder, I would not be angry.
And the last one may be a bit controversial.
Okay, I'll start by saying that I'm a pale girl.
Actually, you know what?
You'd think I'm the perfect candidate for tanning boots,
but I've tried a lot and I don't understand the hype.
They are almost always irregular and weird,
and then you put on the usual makeup and they don't look good.
I don't know what hype there is behind tanning boots, girls.
I really don't understand it.
The only one I liked is the Seglowee Super Gel in its darkest shade.
That worked for me and I like it.
But yes, again, it seems a bit contradictory to me.
Unless you go to wear tanning boots alone,
which I understand for people who are more tanned in the body than in the face,
people who use self-tanner, that kind of thing.
But even then, you get an irregular look
and then you have to apply makeup base to match it all.
I don't know.
I'm just a little fed up with tanning boots.
I think they're out of fashion.
